What is your not so normal item to pack, which is helpful while at WDW ?

100 pages... 3 days ...

I thought I had EVERYTHING strange/odd already on my list ... but so many good ideas I had to add to my already lengthy list.
Thanks !! Can't wait for Nov 29th !!

nightlights are a must wherever we are vacationing
mini flashlight
old washcloths - freeze/take to parks - no problem tossing them
ziplocks of all sizes
snack pack cereal
flushable wipes
roll of toilet paper -- POP century's tp isn't the softest if you have bathroom issues
chip clips
Ginger pills - helps with motion sickness without the drowsiness (last trip I rode the tea cups with 4 spinning kids and didn't have a problem)

we bought rubber bracelets (like the lance Armstrong bracelets) with imprints of our cell phone # for our kids to wear on our previous trips -- got them at shanrene.com for only a couple bucks. the little ones wore them on their ankle.

Love the idea of the ginger pills for motion sickness. DH struggles with motion sickness every trip and needs to pick and choose his rides carefully. He usually can do one crazy ride a day and then sits out the rest. What kind and where do you find them?
Thanks!

Wal-Mart has ginger capsules, and they are relatively inexpensive. You can find them with the vitamins and other supplements.

I just read all 100 pages and made a huge list! Its our first trip and I think I will be shipping a box or 2 to the resort! Thanks for all of the tips!

Check with your airline first. Last year, I shipped a box down with snacks, and some odds and ends. It wound up costing me more than the cost of bringing an extra suitcase. Granted, I would have to bring the suitcase back, but then you have the room for souvenirs. The box I sent down was about a 15"x15". It was $38 with parcel post.

I bought ginger candy from whole foods and they worked wonders! They're called "Jin Jin" I believe and really, really work!

Thank you, thank you! Will pick these up for him and hope they help him enjoy all the attractions more with us. I always feel bad when he waits on the bench for us. :guilty:

Another thing to try if he hasn't is coke... I get severe motion sickness. I can't swing on a swing set w/o getting my stomach twisted. I however just deal and ride all rides and I drink Coke after the ride. It seems to always settle my stomach. I got this idea from a doctor.

I hope he finds something that works so he can enjoy the rides with y'all. Good luck!!

In the area by the Rapunzel bathrooms there is a seating area and there are chargers in the stumps.

In the Dumbo FP tent, there are chargers in the wooden boxes along the walls and picnic tables to use while you wait.

When you say chargers do you mean plug outlets or USB ports? Just wondering what I need to carry with me just in case!

Hey guys, I've seen a couple comments about people packing white noise machines, which I TOTALLY get.

For free, or just a couple bucks, you can get apps for your phones that are really good white noise machines, with huge libraries of sounds/settings.

My husband uses SleepMaker Rain most often. There are others out there that might be more your style, but they'll save you room in your luggage! :)
Whoa, I never thought of that! Thanks!!

Both!

I can't post the pic (too lazy ;) ) but this blog shows a pic of the Dumbo area chargers and states that the Tangled area charging stations were upgraded to use USB as well.

We went 2 weeks ago & found the Tangled area was always crowded & the Dumbo area always nearly empty. We got treats from the Big Top Confectionary in the tent next to the charging stations & had a snack at the picnic tables in the shade under the tent while we juiced up our phones. It was the perfect place for a midday break - LOTS of shade!

I like the idea in the blog that says DisneyLand has lockers with chargers in them that you can lock your phone for a couple hours while it charges.
My issue is charging my phone and wasting precious time waiting for the charge.

DH and I plan to try the idea of charging our phones at night, and only one of us using it in the morning, then when that battery starts to die, we shut that phone off and put the other one on. That way if someone is trying to find us in the parks or we need to take pictures, we have access to a phone with battery life. (I'm not lugging a camera)

I think this is a great idea. The problem I have is if it is running all night will my phone get a full charge before I head to the parks.

FYI the noise machine I have is pretty flat. It is about the size of a portable CD player. They probably don't make them anymore but you know what I mean.

However if for some reason I forget to pack it, I'll have the app idea backup. LOL

thanks

I stay the value resorts where storage space is limited. I pack collapsable boxes from Dollar Tree. I put one on the vestibule next to the tv and each evening I toss all the bits a pieces I collect throughout the day (reciepts, things to put in my scrapbook etc).

I put a couple on the rack over the closet and put socks, undies, toiletries, meds in them.

I found a small one of these striped ones at Dollar tree and brought it with us when we did a two day away on Labor Day. To my surprise when I opened it it has little sections. I thought that was interesting. I didn't use them but the over all container was great for my husbands wallet and keys when he emptied his pockets. Keeps things a little more contained.

I do find that using my iPod/Android/whatever all night for the white noise app can cause it to run out of juice in the middle of the night. I just make sure I keep it plugged in all night -- that keeps the charge up and, usually, is a little bit more energy than the app actually uses so it ends up fully charging the machine. (I've been doing this for a few years and honestly don't pay much attention to it anymore. Plus, each machine is going to be slightly different -- keep it plugged in overnight, running the app, and check to see the next morning if it gets charged for you or not. This is certainly something you could do at home, just to test your machine out before deciding if it would work for you or not.)

I love my Lightning Bug app, but that's a good idea to check if the phone charges overnight. Mine does, but that doesn't mean all of them will.

It's been suggested to use a power strip to increase your outlets. Instead of a power strip, when I travel I always pack 2 or 3 of the smaller 3-plug outlets. This allows you to split up your devices to wherever you want them. If you want your phone by your bed, but need to charge something that works better by the sink, you can plug the 3-socket ones into different outlets. They don't take up any more space than a power strip, but IMO gives more flexibility.

One of the best tips I found somewhere on the boards was about 4 years ago ..... temporary tattoos for your little ones. We put it on his arm (forearm or so) and it has a place for his name and our names and cell phone numbers. Its not super obvious, he loved it cause it was "cool" and I didn't have to worry about forgetting to put a bracelet on, or wondering if it fell off during the day. Our longest trip was 8 days with plenty of pool time and showers -- about half way thru I took it off (easily with rubbing alcohol wipes) and placed a new one.

I found them on amazon. :goodvibes:goodvibes
