august 2013 codes for rental cars?

Hi just a question if you could help what codes did you use to receive this price on a suv from budget thanks

Just go to the Budget home page. Below where you'd put in your trip info, there's a $17/compact or $22/int SUV ad. Just click in there somewhere and you'll get to the right place.

I was told that if you do online check in you do not need to use the kiosk. Just bring paperwork to the garage.

That is true. Online or the kiosk, you don't have to do both. If adding an additional driver or using a coupon is an issue with online, just do the kiosk. No need to do both. You can also add the additional driver at the exit, just make sure they are with you and have a valid license.

And just like that, my day got a little brighter! :goodvibes Thanks, gmeh1!

Standard/Full (Alamo) are matching the lowest price I've seen and booked. But at this point, I'd like to see them drop down at least a little bit just so I know it's possible! :thumbsup2

Every time I think about not checking prices any more, I find myself checking!!! One of these days it will be lower! :goodvibes

My rates just dropped!!!! Including the minivan!!! :cool1:
Alamo, Aug 31 - Sept 14 (15 days, 2 hours) - I am 12 days out.
Standard/full dropped $4 & is now $270.18
Minivan dropped $122!!! & is now $560.66 :thumbsup2

And... it's my birthday today - this drop was a wonderful birthday gift!!!

You are most welcome, Gina. :) Just a FYI, your posts always make me smile. It is wonderful to see someone so upbeat and happy. :)

Aw, thanks :) . Life is short, and every day is a gift, so I just try to make the most of it :flower3:.

Minivans are down this morning for my dates as well.....for the first time since my search began in January, Alamo now has the minivan cheaper than an SUV (of any size).

And a big ol' HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!!! party::bday:

Nice! I think the Alamo drops are happening much closer to rental date than I remember seeing in the past...in my case, the car I rented had its lowest rate 2 days out, and you're at about 3 if I remember correctly.

Yay! Alamo full size rental from 8-30 thru 9-7 just dropped another $5-- down to $166 now. Come on $150......

thanks for the info. I did not see that when I have been checking. I did not know that they had the Wendys deal again. Thanks

As I have said on here in the past, this is my first time renting a car....so I am a newbie with may seem like dumb questions. So I apologize in advance. My newbie (ie..dumb) question is this:
When you have the car rental reservation you plan on using (in my case, Alamo) and you know it is valid with no questionable codes/discounts, do you cancel the other car rental reservations that you made? Is it necessary to have a 2nd "backup" reservation for any reason? Thanks in advance!

Funny you ask this as I was wondering something similar. I have an Alamo reservation with a questionable code. I also have a budget reservation. Both the same price but I want to select the vehicle so I am going with Alamo. I checked in online a few days ago with no issues. I happened to call budget this morning and asked if it was necessary for me to cancel and I was told that they would like it if I cancelled but there are no fees if I do not cancel. I am so excited as we leave tomorrow and arrive in Orlando @ approximately 9:45 am.
I would not cancel until after you have secured your reservation.

If you are eligible to use the codes and/or coupons that you have applied to your reservation (for example, you have applied the $30 Visa coupon to your Alamo reservation, and you have an active Visa card that you are using to pay for the rental), then there should be no need to keep a back-up reservation. I have cancelled all of my previous reservations (with Dollar and National) and only have kept the one I plan to use with Alamo.

We have noticed that as well. And you are correct .... we are now at the 3 day mark :goodvibes (arriving Friday....woo hoo!! :cool1:).

I have a reservation with Enterprise for $142 for a Full size for 8/31-9/7. It's the lowest I've seen and I've been checking all the car rentals. But I'm nervous because I see everyone on here talking about Alamo and Budget. Is there something wrong with Enterprise?

It shouldn't be necessary, especially during fairly quiet times (like now). I can't think of any reason to have a second reservation with the same agency (unless you have something specific in mind and want to go out to the row and see what's up). During a very busy period (like Christmas/Easter/Thanksgiving), it wouldn't hurt to have a backup with another agency.

I'm pretty much against using questionable codes, but that's up to you. In your case, I would keep the backup reservation with the other agency (Budget).

In general, if you didn't secure your rental with a credit card, you don't have to worry about cancellation fees. I'm surprised that holding rentals with credit cards hasn't become the norm (much like hotels), and wouldn't be surprised to see it in the future...although I'm guessing rental agencies have a very, very good idea of what percentage of reservations actually show up.

What codes did u use to get it down to $142?

And.. the rates are back to their previous low this afternoon. Glad I got that in on that dip when it occurred.

My Alamo rate just went down $6.:cool1: Now I'm paying $153.59 for a Standard from 8/25 to 9/2. Every little bit helps.
