~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
OMG! First of all, I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with your planning pages!!! TODIEFOR :lovestruc
And I am loving the hot pink version of the holiday dress! I can't let Kirsten NEAR the computer these days - she's been grumbling for weeks that she needs a new outfit and we all know I don't have time to stop and make AG clothes right now! :rolleyes1
I wish I had pretty planning pages like yours ... I can do charts in Numbers, but I don't have photoshop (just Lightroom, which, although it has lots of pieces of Photoshop, does NOT have the layers needed to do the cool DISign work)...
Here's the 3rd and final outfit in my Holiday 2011 series. And yes, the main color of this one is hot pink. :thumbsup2
aIMG_2064.jpg
And just in case you wanted to see the back of these dresses...
aIMG_2065.jpg
D~
I am so in love with you holiday outfits.
Yes, I am quoting myself. :confused3
I am happy to report that I ripped this entire dress apart today, and redid it for the 4th time... Finally, I am happy with it - and I feel much better. It was nagging at the back of my brain. I will post new pictures of it tomorrow.
Most things I can deal with. Improper fit, I cannot deal with... totally unacceptable. So, I fixed it. :lovestruc
D~
I plan to do 3 Holiday outfits this season. This is the first... I am not happy with it at all... I took the top off 2 times and redid it entirely twice. I had it completely finished last night, and then I ripped it apart again today (for the 3rd time) becuase I didn't like the fit. I still don't like the fit, but I am afraid I will take a scissors to the whole thing if I try to rip it apart again. popcorn::
BTW... the main color of the dress is actually red - so if you are seeing hot pink (like I am) - it's actually red. :confused3
Anyways...
Can't wait to see it...the red one was my favorite in color ways!
Nini
That is adorable. Love how you made that page.
Thank you! :thumbsup2
SUCH TALENT!
:love::love::love:
(I impress myself if I can take someone else's designs, put them together into Embird and get them to stitch half way right! of course, what I do doesn't take talent... just a bit of time!)
Not only is the sewing machine your friend, but you can make the computer do your bidding as well! So love these pages. Of course, I would be afraid to actually carry something like that...someone might take it!
Nini
Thank you Nini... Photoshop was actually my first love... again - completely self taught. I know, my brain is wired weird. :confused3
Yet - I am still intimidated by the PE770, one of the main reasons that I haven't bit the bullet. :rolleyes1
Thanks, and ROFL - you better watch out for Kirsten - I think she's sneaking on The Dis when you aren't around. :eek:
Honestly, I've never worked with any other programs other than Photoshop. And once I figured out how the layers worked (over a decade ago) - I can't use other programs... I need those layers. However, there is sooooo much that I don't know how to do, and half the stuff I do, I probably do wrong. LOL :rolleyes1
Ok, yes, I know, I am quoting myself twice in one day... I just have to say, I forgot to mention that dd made the most adorable hair clips for this series... She brought them down last night to show me, and I just ooohed and aaaahed - they are so cute - and totally capture the colors and festivity of the outfits!
Can't wait to see it...the red one was my favorite in color ways!
Nini
Yay... I am glad you are anxious to see it. I love the red one too. :lovestruc That's why I couldn't leave it alone. popcorn::
Sorry this took me so long to post today... I was having pc issues this morning.
Anyways - welcome home! Now, let's start planning your next WDW vacation... I think it should be in March. :rolleyes1
GORGEOUS! :lovestruc
Thanks!!!! :lovestruc
I made some changes to our park plans yesterday...
I switched around our first 3 days, thankfully, I was able to get all the same ADRs (and some for better times) - and I am very happy to have this done before the cc requirements kick in on the 26th.
Oh, and I am even happier that I was able to get a Boma dinner on the day we have breakfast at Tusker House, rather than the day we have lunch there - since I was worried we would be too full for dinner.
Here's the link to my planning page - everything in bold has been changed.
Planning Page
Which also means, I am going to have to edit my Mini-Planner pages... :rolleyes1
D~
We put the heat on for the first time yesterday so your hot cups of cocoa are looking pretty good. :cold:
I love the new series and someone else in the house noticed the prominent placement of gingerbread cookies on your dresses. Have you been thinking about me and G?
Outfit #32 revised
D~
There it is, smack dab in the middle a big beautiful gingerbread cookie. :banana::banana::banana:
So, rarely do I ever like anything I make... But this outfit, I am super happy with, from top to bottom. So much that I contimplated keeping it for myself. :rolleyes1
The fit is perfect, the top stitching is perfect, the fabrics are adorable, and the applique actually turned out. :wizard:
#2 Holiday outfit:
aIMG_2059.jpg
D~
Whoa, so you went for bigger cookies this time. Great idea. Nothing says holidays like a plate of gingerbread cookies and an ice cold glass of ginger ale to wash it down. Traditons are made of this.
:santa:
Excuse me, but the cookie is on the butt? and it's just the legs?? Is that appropriate? Might need to rip this one apart and move the cookie to the front.
:sad2:
Hope it's okay to CASE your dress. I made a couple changes -- I did slender, delicate, feminine spaghetti straps on the top and just used one material for the skirt because I wanted to emphasize the gingerbread. Yes, those are gingerbread -- they only look like flattened ants because I made the picture small, out of respect for not hogging your PTR. (This is a fabric I had in my stash from the old days before I gave up sewing.)
swissmiss018.jpg
Feel free to CASE the hair accessories. I wanted them to look like Mickey ears, but I may have to do some tweaking for the full effect. :thumbsup2
PS Please, no bathroom humor about the little sign that says GAS. My husband was labeling the pipes in the basement. I told him I didn't need to know which pipes carried gas. If there was a problem with them I would not be in the basement trying to fix them, I would be a safe distance away!
Cheryl...I have missed you.
I really love your version....hard to decide which of the 4 I like best! LOL
D love your third dress too! So what is the next theme? :surfweb:
:rotfl2: I just love that dress. I heard SWISS MISS is all the rage this year in the bottle fashion. .
CHERYL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We put the heat on for the first time yesterday so your hot cups of cocoa are looking pretty good. :cold:
We turned ours on a few days ago too. I told Josh we needed to "turn it on and double check that everything was working properly - before it got to cold and we'd have to pay for an emergency appt" - well, it never got shut off. He has it set pretty low though - to take the chill out of the air. And our gas bill isn't that expensive (I don't think, considering our house was built in 1886) - it's our electric bill that's outrageous!
I love the new series and someone else in the house noticed the prominent placement of gingerbread cookies on your dresses. Have you been thinking about me and G?
:lovestruc
Actually, I have... I've been missing the two of you, something fierce. :surfweb:
There it is, smack dab in the middle a big beautiful gingerbread cookie.
Yes, there it is... dd said that same thing to me when I did the last dress. I decided to have the coordinating fabric from the hot cocoa on the front - she said it was a "huge mistake" and I should have put the cute Gingerbread man on the front.
Whoa, so you went for bigger cookies this time. Great idea. Nothing says holidays like a plate of gingerbread cookies and an ice cold glass of ginger ale to wash it down. Traditons are made of this.
:santa:
Totally... Even Santa requests it. Ever notice how the cookies and milk never get eaten???? Well, it's because Santa prefers Gingerbread and Ginger Ale... popcorn::
It might be inappropriate - but have I really ever been appropriate???
You did an amazing job - although I agree, the Mickey ears may need to be tweeked just a smidge. I really love the delicate lines of the swiss miss - I mean, seriously - you are such an inspiration! :worship:
What a wonderful DH you have... maybe mine should do that? After all, any time I've smelled gas - I go down to investigate. I even called the gas company once (I am paranoid, after our furnace in our old house almost blew), and that dude couldn't smell it or find it. I thought I was imagining things, so did he. So, I had our awesome furnace guy out here a few months later (maybe even the next year) and aked him if he smelled it. Sure enough, just faintly - so he went through ALL my gas lines and found the leaker - fixed it and didn't charge me a thing. That is an AMAZING furnace guy! I haven't smelled any gas since. :lovestruc
D love your third dress too! So what is the next theme? :surfweb:
Well, I usually don't make a habit of announcing what I am making next.... but I still plan to make one more outfit in the WtP series - which I am planning to do tomorrow. Then DH came up with a couple of fun ideas - which wouldn't be part of a series, just an outfit here and there. However, in the middle, somewhere, I have a couple of holiday orders I need to fulfill - so I think I am going to sneak those in during the next couple of weeks. I want to have all my holiday orders finished by the 1st of Dec, so I am not panicking. :thumbsup2
NINI I just love that dress. I heard SWISS MISS is all the rage this year in the bottle fashion.[/quote]
I must have missed that newsletter - I better check that I am still subscribed...
Excellent idea! :thumbsup2
No sewing for me today... I have to work. :confused3 Which is a bummer, because I spent a couple hours in my sewing room over the weekend to clean it up again... I still had fabric out from Megan's POFQ dress! :rolleyes1
Maybe I'll post another planner page instead??? Or I could post an installment to my PTR??? Or I could post some of Tori's creations???? The options are endless, really.
D~
Remember how I said that I revised my first 3 park days??? Well, here's Day 2:
