Umm .. yes you do! You can even just do it here since I am lagging on my updates!
Okey dokey, here it goes, not much different from yours...we sat at the Chef's counter like I always do because I love the interaction with Chef Sutton. At first he wasn't out there and I was very bummed, but after an hour or so he showed up, even though the staff didn't really expect him.
We opted for the tasting menu, but we split it between the two of us. they split it in the kitchen. For us this was almost plenty of food, I did order a second dessert...It IS the holidays!
So we started with this amuse bouche, "what she said" date and proscuitto and something, very good.
The breads are great and served in such an imaginative bowl. I love the crispy flat bread.
I love the view from here.
We watched them plate up lots of these scallop appetizers. They were in the cookbook I got, but I can't make those potato chip things. I tried this appetizer last new years eve and I was great, just wish I had some of the cross cut potato thingys!
Our first course was lobster & cauliflower, normally I don't like cauliflower, but it was very good and well seasoned.
So we had a braised veal cheek instead of lamb, it was amazing, it was plated over a small chunk of polenta, and came with a deep fried egg yolk that was still runny, I don't know how they did that, I tried to get a good picture, but it is a bit fuzzy.
Once the chef showed up, he remembered us from past visits and the cooking school and gave us a complimentary mushroom cappucino, (he did this for the other guests too, so good reason to sit there!)
Then we got our goose as seen on the Guy Fieri Special. By this time my camera battery had died, so the picture you see is someone's random goose that I watched the serving station for until someone finally had one and jumped up to snatch this picture, ours were halved so not quite this big.
I missed taking a picture of the dessert that came with the tasting menu, but we were still a little hungry and I wanted to try that Coco thing, didn't know it came with donuts. It was hot when we got it and so yummy. I ate most of the donuts, and hot chocolate, but got up to photograph the goose while I had some left, ran into friends and by the time I got back my SO had finished it off. Good thing, that much sugar and I would have been in a tizzy!
So there, now I have hijacked your trip report with my Napa Rose Trip Report!
