Purchasing a PE upgrade

Would you be able to check availability on 26th August VS027. I have not requested seats and there do not seem to be 3 together left at the moment. Also interested in the possibility of upgrading to PE at reasonable cost

Only 12 seats free in economy, all singles, but class ticks shows 9's in all but the very cheapest, so try o;ci when it opens, but you will probably get the "Seats will be assigned at Checkin" message so try at twilight checkin iff that happens.
PE is showing full, class shows 9's however so Virgin Holidays looks like they ahve not sold their allocation, so some may be available at checkin for upgrade. When the VH seats are released at OLCI then you will have a better information.
UC only has 4 people in it and plenty of Z class tickets available, so go for the big upgrade!

Hi All

I am going to florida (Orlando) with Virgin in September booked with Virgin Hols for 5 adults and a child. We are currently travelling economy but would like to know if you could pay or use our miles at the twilight check in to upgrade to PE or UC, or is this not possible because we booked with Virgin Hols?

Sorry to bump this thread but i thought it wiser than creating a new one.

We don't go to Orlando till September 2010 but having just paid it off 10 months earlier than expected we were thinking of upgrading.

However I wasnt sure whether to pay for an upgrade now £645 for two of us one way or risk it and try and get them cheap at the airport.

In March we upgraded at the airport for about £150 each and got amazing seats, row 75 next to the emergency exit in the bubble.

We fly on the 21st September 2010 which is a tuesday out of term time so i was thinking the plane possibly wouldn't be full.

Ah decisions decisions, also if I convince the wife that we should be able to upgrade at the airport she may let me book an extra 4 nights :p

Just a quickie

We have booked direct with VA. It shows that we already have seat numbers for PE.

Will these change at all or are they defiantly our seats ? Do we have to do online check in to guarantee them ?

Thanks :wizard:

With Virgin its a seat request not a booking. As they use planes with two different configuarations and this can change rigght up to OLCI, yes, do OLCI to reserve those seats, but they can still be chenged right up to boarding the plane of course..

we flew to florida yesterday with VA and they were charging £199 for PE upgrades

they were really pushing them as well, we got asked 4 times during bag drop!!!

I have 4 economy seats to Orlando, usually we travel n PE.

I bought my seats using miles, so they won't let me buy upgrades and they are to expensive anyway. They have told me to wait until the day and see what offers are available then.

When is the best time to try?, we are at the airport the day before staying at the Gatwick Hilton, so can try anytime.

What upgrade prices did you pay?

Can I ask out of curiosity ... I note people say they "pay" for their flights with air miles, what do they do to get air miles, is a credit card or every time you fly or what? As I say, no idea, and just curious. :goodvibes

If you join virgin atlantic flying club, and fly with them you then will get 8448 miles for a round trip to florida in economy. you can spend miles on your next trip - 2000 miles in economy + money which in theory will give you a cheaper flight price, when you have accumilated loads and loads of miles, you can spend them all on a flight and just have to pay the taxes. I probably havent explained all this very well though!
I have just spend 75000 miles for a round trip to florida in premium economy, all i had to pay was the taxes which was £236.

essentuillay yes.
If you have had no movement on your account within 3 years AFAIR, then the miles expire.
there are various ways of keeping them alive, by buying some wine from Virgin wines, etc etc.
Unfortunatly yours have gone.

Hi
I'm thinking about upgrading to PE for the return leg of our Nov/ Dec trip. Can I upgrade if I do OLCI in Florida or would I have to wait until I got to the gate?
We travel back on Sat 5th Dec and I'm hoping the flight is not going to be that full.
