Montery is beautiful. Are they are at the base there?

No, they are Monterey natives. Emily met their daughter when we lived there in 2005-2007. They've remained close, so Emily has been talking about going to visit since we left in 07. She turned 16 this year and she didn't have a party because most of her friend PCS'd or went on vacation, so we got her this instead. I never thought I would say this, but, "Thank God for cell phones!":rotfl:

She is a pretty strong and independent girl. Rob has every confidence that if anyone were to try to "take" her, she yell like crazy. See, he thinks like a dad, worrying about physical harm. I worry like a mom/woman, not only for her physical safety, but also for emotional safety. I would hate for some pervert to try to talk to her. (Of course that could go on anywhere, not just at LAX.)

Once again--small town girl. I would have never thought to do something like this when I was just 16.

Paige, I was raised in a small town too, but moved to a suburb of Madison when I was 13. At age 14 and 15, I rode the greyhound bus alone from Madison to Bismarck ND alone to visit my dad, and had a 1 hour layover from midnight to 1 am in the Minneapolis bus depot both times. Trust me, I was on my guard, but things went just fine....I'm sure they will for your daughter too.

As a mother, I know I would worry too, but I'm also young enough to remember that things worked out ok for me. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

If it makes you feel better, when I had just turned 17, I flew from the Philippines to South Korea with a school trip - not a lot of supervision and I vividly remember walking around Seoul by myself and a friend. She'll do GREAT! :-) (But a good dose of mommy-worry is perfectly normal!):hippie:

Emily will be just fine. I know how we all worry. Yes, Monterey is beautiful. It was beautiful when I lived there back in 77. My Kristen loved the Dennis the Menace park. Walt and I visited Monterey about 8 years ago. It was still very pretty. I am drinking my coffee then I will be off to be with the kids. No camp this week since Asiah and Elijah have track meets Thursday and Friday. They will hang with me this week. We were busy all weekend with track and basketball. Both did well.

My kids liked that park too. Sometimes when they were in school and Rob had a break from classes, we would go and have lunch there. Nice and quiet.

We went there too!! When DH came back from Desert Storm I was staying in Sacramento with my sister and we went down that way for a few days. The kids were very little and loved that park.

Took DS #1 to airport this am, he is off to Europe!!! I am praying they make good - safe choices but still have a good time!

I'm sure he will be fine Joanne! Here's some pixiedust: to help get him home safe and sound :goodvibes

Good morning people!:goodvibes

Crazy busy day today - already stripped the beds, 2 loads of laundry and cleaned Ellis' room. Too much to squeeze into today, oh well, it'll keep me out of mischief:rotfl:

ps - WW weigh in this morning - :scared: - pray that I'm a big loser:rotfl:

Good luck Karen!! :cheer2:

I just weighed-in too, all my hard work this past week has paid off, I am down 3 pounds :woohoo:

Catching up is no longer an option for me!:scared:

I just have to decide that a couple of pages are good enough and jump in!:goodvibes

That's the best idea Beth. Unless you have no life like me and spend you whole life on this thread!!!

OK, I just got off the phone with DCL.

The Magic now has an "Ocean Quest Club" for 11 to 13 year olds. The 13 year olds can still go to the Teen Club as well. They said the Ocean Quest Club was down on Deck 2. :confused3

I will be making my final payment on the 24th. (Just in time to make shore excursion ressies.) :thumbsup2

We are still debating on the Trip Insurance (or as DCL calls it the Vacation Protection Plan). I usually don't purchase trip insurance, but the potential "flu" situation has me concerned. Any thoughts?

Matthew

P.S. More pics coming...

MAtthew - I am so glad to see that I'm not the only one that happened to. Since it's our first cruise I didn't know what to expect, but when we checked our online ressies, the only one showing up for the oceaneers lab is our 8 yo becca- not our 11 year old Abby.

I will be calling Disney tomorrow to give them our passport #s - I will ask them then and let u know (it's a
sooooo confusing!!!)

BTW - are you comfortable letting her check herself in and out of the clubs herself? If I remember right, she is going into 6th grade (like my. 11 yo Abby)

I didn't check to see if Matthew answered, but Megan checked herself in and out in 2007 (after we were on board for a couple of days.) I even let Sarah check out with her sister so they could go for lunch. We actually left them on the ship twice when we went ashore. That was much more fun for them. (This was on the Med cruise).

OK, here we go.

First park to visit had to be the Magic Kingdom for the girls!

Whhen we walked in, we met this most unusual puppet person...

This lady was practically perfect in every way.

Ah, the Castle. (OK, there were a few people there)

We got trip insurance, but bought it on our own. I think it is cheaper that way. Check with your insurance company, they may offer vacation insurance and in many cases, the kids are free.:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone. It is hard to believe that the CC booking window opens in less than two weeks!

I am at work doing a few things in the morning, then probably home this afternoon. IN the summer, thats what we do. With the kids its a lot easier that way. The good thing is I have a work laptop at home and can work from home as needed.

"Dad, can I have a car?........NO"

Here are a couple of pics from KSC.* The first was taken from the tour bus. The second shows the Space Shuttle on the pad as seen from the viewing platform.

Maybe you should mention that you have a great camera with a telephoto lens????

This pic makes it look like the observation deck is right next to the launch pad.... it's not that close!!!

WooHoo, Cass!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

:banana::banana::banana::banana:Great news.

Thanks  3 down, 22 to go :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I've heard good things about OQ. They get to dock a virtual Magic down there, Rob was a little sad that he was too old to do that  :rotfl2:
