DDA Chapter 16

I guess because we don't do anymore of that stuff I don't think about it. Unless it is a REALLY special occasion, of which I cannot think right now, I won't be making ANY more shirts. Between the 3 of us, we have Disney shirts up to our elbows that don't get worn anymore. We no longer do autograph books or invitations. The planning that I enjoy doing is the park days and restaurants. You sound like you will be busy, with everything you have planned. Good thing you're starting early. :thumbsup2

well if I can fin shirts that I like that I think will fit Virginia then I will probably do that. Olivia's shirts should fit. That will make the deciding factor on the shirts. The shirts this year for Christmas will just be coupons to redeem as we get closer to the trip. I am only doing a couple of invitations, and I might wait and give those to Olivia for her birthday next year. I know what I want to do the thing is will they get done and can I figure out how to make what I see in my head.

I think Princess did well at her interview. She was very shy when we arrived (wouldn't speak without prompting) but when the lady called her back for her actual evaluation she marched right in without a backwards glance. :confused3
It took about 35 minutes. The interviewer said it was a "treat" to talk with Princess, that she did well, and that the results will be submitted to the school and a copy will be mailed to my bosses. Fair enough!

As we were leaving Princess said she would like to go and have another meeting some time. :rotfl2:

Princess sounds like such a sweet pea:goodvibes

I will be honest....I've never heard in real life about kids needing to "interview" to get into school so young. (I had to take a test for 6th grade to get into a school I really didn't want to go to .....2 weeks into the school year it was mutually decided we weren't a good fit:rotfl: )

I got 2 phone calls today. The first was from the school nurse saying that Nicholas was sick. He had an upset tummy, but not throwing up, clammy and "green" looking. I got there, and he seems fine. A little more lethargic than normal, but okay. So now we are home and he is watching Star Wars #2. The second call I got was from a very helpful young lady, Michelle, from photopass. Come to find out my book was canceled because I uploaded a Redneck photo of our Dinosaur ride photo. I.E. - I took a photo of the photo and uploaded it into my book. Apparently that is a no-no.. So she is reactivating my photopass pictures and my pre-order code. Then I can simply replace the photo and reorder the book. Simple enough, thank goodness!

I'm betting it's some swanky preschool. ;)

well my Christmas tree is down. So when Jeff gets done with lunch it can go back in the attic.

eh!!:confused3

Is Olivia doing better??

yes. no puking since 930 last night, no fever. she has ate something, though she is still seems tired as she is pretty much just laying around watching TV. I'd say she slept pretty much from 1230 pm yesterday to 930 today with just getting up to go potty and stuff.

I hope Nicholas feels better soon! :wizard:
I am glad the PhotoPass issue is resolved! :thumbsup2

I'm betting it's some swanky preschool. ;)

Well, the preschool where she goes now is very good. The thing is, there is not a guaranteed "feed" for the preschool into the elementary so she may not have an automatic spot there after next year.
She is applying to 2 schools. The one we tested for today is not where I want her to go, but it's not up to me.
The other school she is applying to is a FABULOUS school. DS has done summer camp there, and we actually applied for him to go there in 1st grade but he only made it on the waitlist.

The whole private school phenomenon in Dallas is very peculiar to observe. You fill out applications and submit fees in October. They schedule testing for January, and letters go out in March. You are in, out, or waitlisted. Kids who get accepted at more than one school have a few weeks to choose one, which gives kids on the waitlist the chance to get a spot. My bosses are pretty laid back with it. If she gets in, good, if not, fine, no problem. Some of these parents act like the child's entire future hinges on this ONE thing.

My ex boss was CRAZED about getting her child in. She had him testing for 4 or 5 different schools, she bribed him, she threatened him, she sent ME to the testing because she thought I could make him behave, it was way too much stress for a preschooler. But he never got in anywhere, so he went through that process year after year. She tried to buy her way in by promising to make substantial monetary contributions. It was INSANE. She would tell him all these horrid lies about public school, then tell him that's where he would go if he didn't do well on the admissions exams. :sad2: Some of the parents hire private tutors to prep the kids for the exams. (That's how I got my job with Brother & Sister. The tutor was working with my friend's charges, and asked my friend if she knew any nannies looking for a job. For what it's worth, one of my friend's charges got in, the other one didn't - they were twins. You can't FORCE a child into these things.)

The interviewers are trained to spot these things. They know which kids have been coached, bribed, coerced, threatened, etc. They also know which kids are naturally smart and engaging. That will work in Princess's favor.

okay so Jeff and I decided we will go Nov. 29th or 30th 2010 to Dec. 6th or 7th. he said he wanted to go between Thanksgiving and Christmas. and he said only 7-8 days. I will use those dates for now but may change them depending on air fare prices next year. I think we will stay at Port Orleans French Quarter.

What are everyone's plans this weekend? We seem to be getting hit with a snowstorm of up to 10 inches over the weekend, so I'm going to Walmart to get a pizza and rent the Bucket List from Redbox. Or 88 minutes. Or Traitor. Not sure on the movie yet. :teeth:
ETA: And buy some Sabra Red Pepper Hummus and pretzel chips. That stuff is GOOD.

Complimentary parking: AP/PAP holders are entitled to free parking at the MK, Epcot, DHS and AK parking lots. Florida Seasonal Passholders do not get this benefit. Free parking is not valid for special events requiring a separate admission charge or special events that are not open to the general public.

You get free parking anyway, though, staying at a WDW resort, right?
