DDA Chapter 10

I forgot to tell you guys I met Beth! Very briefly at MGM! We were trading pins outside of ToT and she was going in with her kids. She came over and said hello. :) Then I saw her again for a minute as we were leaving Pizza Planet. It was too bad we didn't get to chat, but at least we got to say hi!

Debbie - Good luck dishwasher shopping! :wizard:

Vicki - Wow! $420 is a lot for airfare! YIKES! Funny thing is, if I was going in October I could get air for $240 on American and they want $1100 in March. I don't want to book a room on points if the airfare is going to shoot us out of the saddle. Better to use the points in August when we KNOW we are going no matter how high the airfare is. Although $1100 per person would force me to consider other options!

Most of our trips are over $300 each. The March trip is always over $400. I was excited to see that we might be able to do $318. We need to wait one more week before I can book though. The reason we did December last year after going in October was because airfare was under $250 for us. We couldn't resist.

   I remember those times (though I was blessed both girls were SLEEPERS and no colic:goodvibes ) I was still a zombie, you can't help but be a zombie.

Deb - The duck pins are what made DS want the actual rubber ducks.
I hope you aren't getting sick!

Amy - Sorry Noah isn't sleeping! Not fun! :sad2:

Thanks! :grouphug:

Thank goodness for leftover birthday cake...though, stress-eating isn't helping me lose my pregnancy pounds very quickly! Yum, cake! (Right Elizabeth?!! ;) )

You look super, Debbie! :goodvibes

All seems quiet right now, so I should try to rest a bit.

Take care, everyone!

So i am starting to look for childrens books..i should have thought of this earlier in the summer for yard sales and stuff ,but it just hit me that i want to have books for a library when i eventually hvae a classroom...does anyone know of any good sites to get books that arent tooo expensive?

I would check yard sales and used book stores locally. I'm sure that scholastic has teacher programs too.

Thank you for the warm wishes back. I have really missed being able to check in with everyone! (And to answer your question, Chanon, yes, my interns are gone. Of course, we've already started interviewing for next year's batch, so I really won't be "calm" again until sometime in October. )

But work be darned, I'm still going on the Wonder! And we're going to stay for a couple of extra days, and do the first MNSSHP. It will take a lot of will power to stay out of the parks otherwise, but we don't want to turn in Jonathan's AP voucher until December, so we'll just have to content ourselves with the pools and DTD.

Elizabeth - glad DS is feeling better! Sounds like you guys had quite another pin haul! I hope to be able to check out your TR soon. I'm scared to look at airfare now. :scared1:

Janet - the link you posted just took me to Photobucket's home page. :confused3 Is there another, pretty please?

Chanon - you're getting so close! Home stretch, now! :yay:

Jennifer and Amy - your kiddos are looking as adorable as ever! I hope you both get good nights' sleep. I'll say a prayer that the kids are little  tonight!

Deb - glad you had a chance to enjoy your evening.

Vicki - yay for you, getting started on your training regiment! I'll keep my fingers crossed that those airfares hold up for another week!

Terri - looks like a beautiful wedding, and a fun weekend! I'm glad Hal wasn't hurt - what was that girl thinking?!?! :sad2:

Jen - congrats on the potential job(s)! I'm with Deb - check yard sales, library sales, etc. If you could find good shipping rates, I've sometimes seen good sales on eBay or half.com. And don't forget, once you have a classroom, to set up a "wish list" on Amazon - a good friend of mine who was a kindergarten teacher did that, and her parents (instead of getting her random gifts for Christmas and end of the year) would buy her books off her wish list for her room.

Well, I'm going to call it a night - another fun-filled day tomorrow! Sweet Disney Dreams, DDA! :cloud9:

It was a lovely wedding and I cannot wait to see the pictures. They even managed to get a picture of the cousins which included Jake, Mike and his sister and my three kids. That was very special and I cannot wait to have a copy of that.

The links and pictures you posted were gorgeous, Terry! Sounds like you all had a wonderful time, with the exception of Hal's poor foot! Thanks for sharing the weekend with us. :goodvibes

Deb - Please take care of yourself. Have you thought about making a doctor's appointment to talk about all the symptoms that keep cropping up?

Amy - I wonder if Noah is a little night owl? Kristin used to scream at night until we let her be awake and then she was much happier. Of course, she slept during the day when I needed to be awake and alert. Does make for that zombie-like life for Mom.

Jennifer - Love your new signature, the girls are so precious. I was looking at baby girl things today, but I will wait until we know for sure before I buy anything.

My dishwasher has officially died, so it looks like I will be shopping for one. Ours was not an expensive model so it wouldn't be worth the money to try and have it repaired, it's warranty has long since expired.

When will you all find out what you can shop for? :) I'm sorry your dishwasher went out!

   I remember those times (though I was blessed both girls were SLEEPERS and no colic:goodvibes ) I was still a zombie, you can't help but be a zombie.

SO UNFAIR!

;)

Mine are sleepers, in that once they fall asleep they sleep for about 5 hours. Before that though, we enjoy 2-4 hours of surround-sound, inconsolable screaming. Woohoo!

I can't complain though, because before the Zantac it was those evenings, plus another round from about 11pm-1am, then waking every 30 minutes. Thank God those memories were mostly erased quickly!

How cool! I think I officially know the fewest DDAers ..... and hmm.... there isn't a good "pout" smiley that isn't uber dramatic. :)

So i am starting to look for childrens books..i should have thought of this earlier in the summer for yard sales and stuff ,but it just hit me that i want to have books for a library when i eventually hvae a classroom...does anyone know of any good sites to get books that arent tooo expensive?

Nope! :sad2:

(seriously, I haven't had luck. Books are EXPENSIVE! Check yard sales? Craigslist?)

Speaking of non-sleepers, please say a prayer the next day or two if you wouldn't mind that something works for my girls. I'm not really in the market for pixie dust for myself, because I know it will pass one way or another - and I haven't slept much since the 9th grade .

The pediatrician is really leaning towards milk protein allergy though, and I REALLY don't want to deal with that. It's nothing to do with lactose, in that a gentle formula or soy formula would work. Instead, it would require an elemental/hypoallergenic formula like Nutramigen. This would be at least 2 times more expensive per can, with no bulk sizes or generics. :guilty:

Of course I would do it in a heartbeat if it would make them in less pain, but I'm hoping it just isn't necessary! We have tried just about everything, day and night, but they get horrific belly pain, poop issues (can I talk about that here? ;)), etc with almost every feed -- and it's magnified at night during the colicky "witching hours". They get about 4-8 hours of truly restful sleep in a 24 hour period, which isn't good for their development I know! Furthermore, it's just heart-breaking. That part I don't like at all!

For the past 3 weeks or so, we have been trying various routines without success -- different bottles, nipples, formula, sleeping arrangements/locations, medications, etc.

Last night I pulled out all the stops -- special bottle+nipple combination, baths, warm compresses, loose swaddling (for security but not restriction), white noise, massage, timing their feed early to avoid belly pain right at "bedtime" but then supplementing with pedialyte and meds to avoid an empty belly, etc. (And by myself no less  :rotfl: ) During the "rough hours", things were better than normal at least. They had fitful wake-doze cycles and no sleep, but less screaming.

This could be because we were outside all day, or maybe something helped soothe the colic - and that that's all it is. I'm obviously praying for the latter. It's a heck of a cumbersome routine to try and keep up, but it's better than the alternatives (both poor diagnosis and/or hurting baby girls!). Of course, I still can't ignore the other feeds with the same result. :headache:

Anyway, they go to the pediatrician tomorrow for their 2-month well-child check. We'll chat about this I'm sure, and I was just hoping (praying!) that I would have "figured out something else" by then. I'm running out of time!

Ok, I'm off! Staying in for the most part today, other than a quick run to the grocery store. My cousin is coming to visit for a little while this afternoon, so I need to get a few things done before then.

Have a wonderful day, DDA! :goodvibes

Today is Leighanna's first day of First Grade.:sad2:
She was very excited to get on the bus this morning.
Hopefully we won't have bus issues for awhile.
The school did say that they might make her walk a couple of blocks to get the bus, even though the bus goes right past our house.
He said with the price of fuel, they have to limit their stops. We told him that the bus goes right past our house.
His smart alecky response was that the bus goes past everyone's house!:scared: Whatever.... if worse come to worse we will drive her to school everyday. At least I know that she won't have to walk in the rain, snow, or other adverse conditions.
Leighanna met her teacher at the open house yesterday and loves her! She seems really nice and I know her husband. So she doesn't feel like a total "stranger" to me!

Sorry I have been MIA again! Now that Leighanna is back in school, I might have more time to post more often and not just "try" to keep up!

Anyone heard from Kristine lately? I was concerned with how Bill was doing. Hopefully everything is alright!

Debbie, you look great! I need to get back on track again.

Jennifer and Amy, how nice of Bernadette to make something for you! I have about three unfinished projects on my sewing table. :rolleyes1 :goodvibes
I might have some time now that I won't have my "helper" around so much!
I see that some of you are back from your vacations! Sounds like you had a good time!

Hopefully those who are there this week will be able to dodge some of the rain from Fay! Fingers crossed for all of you! At least you're at Disney!

Glynis, I noticed your post about Leslie's friend. I feel the same way about Leighanna's friend. I guess we all don't raise out kids the way I think we should! Wish you all lived closer, I am sure Leighanna would become fast friends with her, and she would obey your rules.... or else!

Oh, and Jennifer, hopefully you can get the twins on a better sleep schedule. I know that for a while we had a few problems with Leighanna. She seemed to grow out of it fairly quickly though! And cute new signature!

Well, enough of this novel. Hopefully I haven't bored you all to tears!:sad1:

Time for some sleep for me. These summer months have been very busy with overtime like crazy. Helps to fuel the Disney fund, but I am beat!

Lots of  :wizard: to everyone!

Jennifer - I hope you are "on to something' for those little girls. Having babies who hurt (and other issues) is not fun. Take care and keep experimenting. Something will work!

Tom - How nice to hear from you. :goodvibes Leighanna in first grade??? I cannot believe it. I am hoping for a good year for you all, especially if it means that you might get to visit with us more often. :)

H! I can't believe Leighanna is in first grade! I hope the bus issues don't return.... and that she won't have to walk so far to the bus stop!

You are absolutely right, Elin! I hope that "something" is inexpensive and only needed on a short-term basis, though! :rotfl:

How is your Wii fitting? :)
