Hilton Head lovers....

We will be there next weeek for Spring Break. Any suggestions for good seafood? We were there for a quick weekend in Septamber last year and ate @ Hudson's. It was good but pricey. Not sure if we were paying for the popularity and wondering if it was nesssisarilly the best option.

Also, my wife gets clausterphobic easilly, so the size and crowds of the Sea Shack wouldn't be a good fit. :goodvibes

I would recommend the Crazy Crab on the north end of the Island. It's very casual and reasonably priced. Another place we love and learned of from a local is Charley's Crab on Squire Pope Road. It is not inexpensive, but it is very good, has a large selection, and an outdoor area that looks out toward Pinkney Island. Red Fish down near Sea Pines Circle is also consistently good. Have a fun trip.

We were just in HH and loved it! I just wanted to update a few things - Sea Pines now charges $5/day for entrance, so plan your trip accordingly. The lighthouse tour also charges a dollar or 2. Signe's bakery and Salty Dog are just a couple of the restaurants located in the Sea pines area.

Another note, we took the Dolphin Cruise with Captain Scott of Low Country Adventures and booked through the resort. We were charged $40/person (we have 2 kids 5 & 3). When we were on the cruise, Capt Scott answered his phone and booked a cruise, he stated he charged $40/adult and $30/child. Even on member day ($4/person discount), this is a better deal depending on number of kids you are bringing. Capt Scott's boat is right in the marina next to the resort, so transportation wouldn't be a problem either. So, I would suggest calling Low Country Adv's directly to book a cruise.

Happy to hear you had a great time! Is there a fee now to get on Arrow Rd to visit Signe’s? I was thinking Signe’s was located a couple of minutes outside of the Sea Pines entrance?

No fee to get to Signe's. Went to get some key lime pound cake last Saturday while we were there. You reach Arrow Road before the Sea Pines entrance.

Are there any babysitting services like at WDW? We would love to golf as a couple, but don't know what to do with kiddos.

Hey, you all have me soooo excited about our first trip in mid Aug. A few questions for those with experience. We are arriving on Wed and leaving on Monday. I wish I could stay longer but couldn't get a ressie for any more nights, they are booked. So, it seems I hear a lot of talk about Tuesday nite activites, is there much to do on the other nights? (DS's 9 & 5). Also, we will be driving and will hopefully be bringing our own bikes, beach chairs, etc. Is lugging beach chairs and other gear difficult on the shuttle? How about if we rode bikes, is the beach house too far to try to carry beach stuff on a bike? Is there anywhere at the beach house for storage of those things for the next day?

Thanks for any input.

We went last year in Aug. and had a great but very hot time!!! There is lots to do at the resort everyday and evening! There are campfires several times during the week at night. It was quite amusing and sweaty to sit around one in Aug., but the cm's make it fun and those smores are so tasty! The pool party and BBQ are on Tues. and the shrimp boil is on Thurs. at the beach house or at least it was during the summer.

As far as lugging stuff to the beach house. Although I don't think it would be a problem to get the stuff on the shuttle. If you drive, you could just park at the beach house. We thought that was the easiest. This year we are bringing our bikes and plan to have DH or I drive the car with beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys etc. and then the other bike over with the kids. That is if the kids want too, otherwise we'll save the bikes for family rides maybe in the afternoon or early evening along the island's many bike paths.

You'll have a great time!! We can't wait to go back in two months!!!

Hi Carneymom! What are your dates? We're going August 11-15th, first timers also. Also driving down. So excited about the trip- HHI sounds like a wonderful family resort, doesn't it?:goodvibes

Well, it looks like we're changing our vacation dates to July 28th- Aug 1. Anyone else?

hey everyone! Just thought I'd bump this informative thread up. I'm stayed at Palmetto Dunes in a house, so I've enjoyed this thread, even though I won't be with Mickey 24/7, :) Will anyone be there next week?

Sadly we skipped this year at HHI..

Happy to see people still finding this thread useful :thumbsup2

OK- I'm a little afraid to post, last time I posted I killed this thread for 3 MONTHS!!!! but I am taking my chances- HHI lovers, please don't let me be the thread killer again!!!:scared1: Please?:flower3:

Funny enough I was just looking for this thread when I saw my email saying there was a NEW POST!!!!:cheer2: I'll be in HHI after you, vettechick99, I am so sorry- I'm really looking for someone to celebrate my countdown with, and set up some Dis meets! Anyone for the last week of July???

But I have a ? while I'm here- do any HHI vacationers/lovers have any updated restaurant reviews? Has anyone been to the Sea Shack? How far is it from HHIR?

Thank-you!
Ellen

Darn! Oh well, I know you'll have a good time. Have fun!

Like Vettechick, we are renting a house this year in Palmetto Dunes instead of staying at the resort. Thanks by the way Vettechick for a question I read on some other thread about the food window at the beachhouse being open for anyone, not just resort guests. My daughter really wants a Mickey Premium. Anyway, we have driven by the mini-golf places many times with no interest. This year, my kids discovered mini-golf while we were at Vero Beach. So now they want to try one of the places in Hilton Head. Has anyone ever played while here? I don't remember ever really seeing people playing them, but they have stayed open year after year, so they must be fun. I can't remember any of the names of the places, so sorry I am not being specific. Thanks for any info!
P.S. I just googled mini golf places in Hilton Head. The name of the place around the corner from the resort is Pirate's Island Adventure Golf. If anyone has played there, please let me know if it was fun or what.

We've been the last couple of years for lunch. We try to get there just as they open, as it gets very busy and it's a place where a lot of the HH people come for lunch. It's very casual although I wouldn't head there in a bathing suit. Their menu varies depending on what has been caught. It's always been good - even for my non-seafood/fish eating son.

It's located not far from the resort, although it's not within walking distance. In order to get there, you have to head as if your going to Sea Pines and then continue on the traffic circle, exiting on Pope Avenue, and then turning onto the Executive Drive.

I see they have a website under constructions which has a sampling of their menu:

We're checking in on 7/20 -- looking forward to a relaxing week. :dance3:

I was there a few weeks ago. The beach house needs a room key to have access to Signals inside but there is a cart with ice cream and snacks for sale outside at the bottom of the steps at beach level which may get you the Mickey premium access you need. :goodvibes I did not see the side window open or in use but that may change from day to day.
