2008 Free Dining Plan

While waiting for it to come out I'm debating if we'll still add the DDP or not if it doesn't come out.

With the free DDP I was hoping this trip would just be relaxing, and focus on food more. BUT, if it doesn't come out I'm not sure it's completely worth it because we wasted A LOT of food last September on the DDP.

What a predicament. :confused3

(Not to mention whether we should add the DDP for our Christmas trip...)

Not sure if this was addressed yet or not (sooo much to read), but I was told by a co-worker of mine told me that the Free Dining Plan was only available if you booked with the Disney Chase Card. Is this true?

I just answered your question on the other dining thread :goodvibes

The short story

No it isn't true

In the past the Disney Visa cardholders could book a few days before everyone else, but it's never been limited to just them.

Free Dining plan:
In years past. They offered the promo, to Disney Visa Card holder's first. Then, they open up bookings for the general public.

They offered the bounceback this year. In Sept. For people staying @ the resort in Sept. And, it was also offered to people in the UK.

Sorry I'm new to the free DP.

Free Dining plan is usually offered in August - sept right?

Any dates released yet?

Nope not yet there are many assumptions based on different things! One assumption is it will start August 30th and go til September 27th!
Another assumption I' ve seen is it will start on August 24th and go until September 27th!
Then another assumption is that it maybe as early as the 17th of August!

No definite dates yet! Keep checking here you will know when the dates are out there!:thumbsup2

If I do receive the free dining plan, can I upgrade to the deluxe plan and just pay the difference?

Planning a trip in September!

I asked this too when I booked my package and I was told if they offer free dining that I could pay the difference and receive the deluxe plan. I take that with a grain of salt since CM's are notorious for misinformation. But I do have my fingers crossed that it is true :thumbsup2 It would work great for us.

It's explained in a variety of threads, including most likely this one, but...

Guests staying onsite last September were able to, at that time, book Free Dining packages for this coming August.

Free Dining = a package including your room and tickets, and the promotion of getting the Dining Plan for no additional cost.

See the 2008 Dining Plan FAQ or disneyworld.com for an explanation of what the Dining Plan is.

Yep. I stayed at the Pop Century in mid-September of last year and got the bounceback for free dining for this year. I'll be there from the 24th to the 30th, again at the Pop Century, with the dining plan having been tossed in for free. That is an appealling offer, and is the exact reason I committed to returning. For the record, the reservation was originally for five nights/five days. I had no problems adding a night (at the beginning of the reservation), so it's now six nights/seven days.

I don't begrudge the rest of you guys the free dining, if its offered, but it does kind of diminish what I got if everybody else can. At any rate, it probably won't cover all of my food, but it will certainly help. A lot.

Um... let's see, you've had a reservation for nearly a year for the exact dates and resort you want and you KNOW you have free dining-- guaranteed! And that somehow is not so great anymore if free dining is offered to all? :rotfl: SURE IT IS! You can sit back and relax while the rest of us scramble!

I take your point. However, I did say that I do NOT begrudge you guys free dining. I didn't say I did.

We got bounceback free dining last September as well (we too are staying at Pop, some of our days will be the same so maybe we can say hello) and the free DDP was offered 2005, 2006, 2007 (to everyone) and hopefully 2008 (was for UK and bounceback so far, most likely will be to all soon).

There was nothing special about us (you or I or anyone else) being able to bounceback, other than allowing us to guarantee a Value, get our resort of choice, know for a year when our vacation will be, and know with certainty that we will have the free DDP. 2007 was the first year this type of bounceback did occur to current guests but UK residents get to do their free DDP scheduling in the fall.

The 2008 free DDP offer would not in any way diminish what you, me, and a boat load of others were offered during our free DDP 2007 stay.

I am HOPING it is offered to all, everyone deserves a little Disney magic! :goodvibes

I totally agree with everything you said. I too booked with the bounce-back promo, and I hope that's it's offered to the public for the sake of other DISers.

I'm glad I have it now though since I don't have to worry about it not being offered, and already know, like you said, my dates, my resort, and have my ADRs made.

I'll be at Pop too. :goodvibes

Being able to get the bounceback dining was great. I don't have to worry if values are included. They weren't for the UK.

I hope it's offered to everyone else. But unfortunately there's no guarantee. I'm sure it's a tough couple of weeks for all those hoping for it.

I'm staying at POP in September also. With all my DxDDP reservations made. :thumbsup2

We're already booked for September, so if they offer free dining, great. If not, I don't care we're going anyway!! Woohoo! Lol:cool1: :cool1:

We stayed at Pop last September with the free dining plan package. Although the weather was rather hot, I feel the DDP was well worth it. We were also offered the bounce back option while we were there. We declined as we will be returning to DL in December for the Holidays. I would still think that for a family even the revamped dining plan (if free) is still an exceptional value. For a family (3 ppl) you are looking at somewhere between $35-40 for each lunch and dinner in the parks (quick service). So depending on the length of your stay it's still a good deal.
