I need to find her a blue necklace like Cinderella's now! This is the bow she wanted in her hair and I wasn't going to argue!
I got an email that this had been posted, and I had to run right over here to see the results (wouldn't you think I would get a sneak peak????:confused3 )

THIS IS GORGEOUS!!!!! HOLY COW!!! I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!! I laughed when I saw her first pose!!! That is the Lydia, isn't it!!!!!

Lydia just whispered in reverent awe, "Wow, that is so very pretty."
When I told her the name of that first pose, she said, "Yes, that is my pose, see?" And, of course, she did the pose. She was very pleased that Tessa was doing it!!

can you tell us the sizes for the ruffles on the jeans? Please teach me how to do this. Thanks so much.

I followed a pattern on YCMT.com but basically you divide the height you want by the number of ruffles you want and add like an inch or so. You sew the ruffles onto a large rectangle of fabric (so you have enough room for two triangles) and use the triangle pattern to cut out two identical triangles. You sew this onto the jeans (that are seam ripped open). Thats basically it. If you need help I can help you along. For my DD I made 5 rows of 3.5 inch ruffles.

HeatherSue ~ OMG that is so awesome! I love love love it!

Twobeforehim ~ I love the mix on the blues. Great fabrics! I am going to have to go looking for that outfit. I think my 14 year old would even like something in that style!

Ok, I am not good at this stuff but here is a onsie I just made for my youngest dd who 1, I am having a hard time finding things for her. A fellow member might be making a twirl skirt to go. I plan on doing all the princesses. What do you think? Please be honest

This is soooo cute! She will be adorable in it!

 OK here they are....pics of the pillowcase dress and my DD9's outfit.

I loved :lovestruc the whole princess and couldnt bear to cut her head off :scared: for the bodice, so I made it into a huge applique! ;) I made the top big enough to wear for the next year or so in hopes that a Disney vacation will materialize.....popcorn::

I feel bad for leaving DD4 out so here's pic of her sitting on the bench getting her shoes on this morning..... :rolleyes1

IMGP4911.jpg

And there you have it. Now I bought three pillow cases (with 2 pics each) and have 5 more tops to do plus any bottoms the girls want. I havent even gotten to the fact that Valentine's and Easter is coming

WOW! Love them all! Your girls are just tooo cute!

:lovestruc I post this as I am busting with pride that my sister's outfit is such a hit!!!! My chest is puffed out with so much pride, I can barely sit at the keyboard. :lovestruc

You guys are not going to believe this. My ruffler foot just BROKE! It's been acting kinda wonky. I was just finishing gathering the last section of the skirt of the pillowcase dress that I've been making, and I was about 1/2 finished, and there was kinda a wonky stitch, then a noise, and the maching beeping, and the thing just came off. The bottom part that attaches on the screw on bar thing just broke off. I paid $30 for this thing at Hancock's. I've had it since probably around August. I'm very, very sad. Now I'm gonna have to replace the thing. Anyone know where to find a ruffler foot for a good price?
That is awful!!! You really should take it back, it should not have broke allready! I hope you get a speedy replacement!

After I posted I realized I could just use peach or cream. ok.. blame it on my sinus infection
So, the search for flesh is off????? You've moved on to peaches and cream. YUMMY! I hope your sinus infection clears up, those are no fun. My brother in law use to have them so bad, his entire face swelled up and he had to go into the hospital several times. I know it can be very painful.
I love those crochet hats - My plan for the year is to learn how to crochet (last year I learn't how to knit and sew). I've only been sewing since march last year as we cloth diaper our youngest so thought I'd have a go at making them all for her - from there I ventured into clothes (just basic stuff) and then now I'm itching to do something a bit more adventurous ;) My good friend is a fashion designer and has been teaching me as I go ;)

Thanks for that Youcanmakethis link - they have some funky patterns - do they actually include patterns or just instructions :). I'm normally a wing it sort of girl and have a huge list of tutorials saved as favourites lol - patterns are a new thing for me but I'm sure I'll learn (the dressing gown I made recently was one of my first attempts at a real bought pattern).

I can't post pics but can I link to a picture in photobucket or flickr??

Sorry I tend to get carried away when it comes to crafty stuff and blabber on a bit :rolleyes1 just tell me to be quiet
Most of the YCMT patterns are patterns you print out on the computer. Honestly though, if you are any good at figuring things out, you can probably make them yourself. I have not been entirely impressed with most of the patterns on their. Although, I do have a very nice collection of them!

I love this fabric but have never seen it at Joann's here. I'll have to keep searching.

I introduced myself as a sewing newbie last week and I finished my tote bag and a pair of pirate pj bottoms for my son. Just trying to get the feel of everything.

I love my brother 270D sewing machine so far. Its so simple to use. Granted I havent gotten up the nerve to do any embroidery yet!!! :rotfl:

Ok everyone talks about a ruffler foot and I'm really thinking I NEED ONE!!! Are they hard to use? The skirts and dresses are just so cute.

I found some really cute patterns for dd7 at the store the other day. I cant wait to get started on real clothes. I'm looking for easy stuff obviously. I really wish I would have started sewing when she was younger because of all the cute toddler outfits you all have made! Unfortunately she's grown out of all the cutsie stuff. I'm trying to find patterns that look more like an older girls outfit but use cute disney fabrics for our October trip!

So quick question. Where does everyone get the cute minnie dot fabric? I've searched Joann's, Hancock and Walmart. Cant find it anywhere. :confused3 Thanks in Advance!!!

You only need 10 posts to post pictures, you are almost there!!!

The Minnie Dot was at Walmart as a Halloween fabric. But, Hancock gets it in throughout the year. (At least they did last year) It's called Minnie Dot on Hancock's site. Just keep checking there.

Another ? Wasn't there a mickey head cut out that you could print and use to trace a mickey head for a shirt? I am trying to make a shirt but need a mickey head, or am I just making this up
That is in the Photobucket account too, under fabrics and ideas/graphics (or something similar to that!)
Hey Any ideas or suggestions out there to help me out???
This was the pink and purple belle & aurora stripwork jumper
I'm sorry, I wasn't real clear what you meant, that's why I didn't answer.

HEATHER- I forgot to say the pup looks GORGEOUS in her outfit as well!

Okay I FINALLY finished a skirt that I have been working on caseing for like FOREVER!!!! I was sooo happy to have it finished and it turned out better than I expected, but it is not FANTASTIC! So hopefully, if you all promise not to look to closely, especially the ruffle which is HORRIBLE, I will post some pics later! First I have to straighten up, give baths, make dinner, and get the little one to bed! See you guys later!

You are a tease!!!!

BEAUTIFUL!

To make a bodice into an open corset style, post production is a bit of a hassle. I've always called them apron dresses, because that's what they call them on the hippie sites. :)

To make a corset bodice, you leave the center back open, and line the bodice. You can either make loops at even intervals along the back to lace the straps through, buttonholes, or grommets/eyelets. Post production, you could try edging the back with double fold bias to cover the raw edges, but I usually like the sew together and top-stitched lining for durability with the straps.

At the bottom, you add a strip of skirt between the two sides of the bodice, and either put in elastic or a drawstring into the top of that "free" skirt part, so as you loosen the bodice, you have room in the skirt, and as you tighten the bodice, there's no gaping in the back.

Make the straps SUPER long, attach at the shoulder, cross in back, and lace up. Make a bow at the bottom.

Clear as mud??

I'm sorry, I have no pics right now. I'll see if I can go dig out one of brianna's apron dresses later and post pics (hers and mine are packed up for the winter right now).

That makes sense to me! Thanks for posting that!!!

ETA: STILL NEEDS TO FINISH DRYING

I think it's pretty good! I have tried to use the fabric paint before, and I find that if you practice on something first, you don't get the globs so much. But, this looks really cute! I can't wait to see the rest of the ones you do!

Hope this comes out okay, I had to get rid or 27 pictures from my quotes so started chopping the reply!
That happens to me all the time too!

Awwww thanks Teresa....partly they are in color so I can find myself in the midst of pages upon pages of quotes! Here's one for you! ;)
Thanks! :)

Your daughters all look so cute!!!! I love the outfits! You did a great job!!! And your 4 year old's shoes are ADORABLE!!!

I'm enjoying all of the creativity here. I am so impressed with your sewing skills. I enjoy sewing, but really don't get around to it as much as I'd like. I have my hands in way too many projects :goodvibes I added a couple of links to my signature if anyone wants to see a few of the projects that I've completed. I can think of several that aren't on those links, but I will try to add them as time allows.

Heather that is absolutely gorgeous. And so is Tessa. She is going to be the belle of tha ball :). I can't let Kiley see this one LOL !

You weren't finished with college when you married Chuck, right? So, who knows! It's hard to believe that your babies are that old allready though!!! Wasn't just yesterday you brought a baby to my wedding?????? (A very good and cute little baby!) Of course, if you ever feel the need to just make some girlie things, I hear your old college buddy has two very cute little girls that love things like that! ;)

Yes, we were married in college when I was 20-1/2 years old. We knew each other about a year but our first date was 363 days before our wedding. So, I know you never know! We did wait 3 years before having the first cute little baby.

I have to say you guys have sucked me into this thread. I had to check it out because I wanted to see what Tom was up to and now I'm hooked! Now, I've got Deb sucked in too. I am trying to decide if there is something that I can make for my 7 year old niece and 10 year old nephew for our June trip. And then somehow come up with something matching for the adults in the group. My sister, mom, niece & nephew are coming with DH and my 2 girls. I haven't sewn in 25 years but I used to enjoy it. If I decide to tackle it, I'll be asking for advice from all you fantastic people!

I am SOOOOOOO jealous of your TWO tickers!!!

Hi Amy,

I got the scraps in the mail today!! Thank you so much - Wow - Monsters Inc???? So Exciting!!

Im still looking for some Disney scraps to make my big 40 mickey head sweatshirt and I'd be happy to paypal postage!! They really dont have to be big at all, just big enough to cut out a mickey head out of!!

Thanks So Much!! Wendy

Sorry Heather, I had the Tessa but I don't know where it went?:confused3 Maybe I can find it and post later! Okay, and like I said before, don't look to closely at that HORRIBLE ruffle!:scared:

Just a side note: That shirt DOES NOT go with the skirt! I just bought a bag full of clothes and they were lying there so I grabbed this shirt so she would not be "NAKIT" in the pics!:rotfl:

Thank you so much for your response to the Cinderella dress! It means so much to me that you all like it!! I even got my first couple of :worship: s!!

Is she going to wear it at BBB???? It is really beautiful heather!!!! Great Great Job!!!
Yes, she's going to wear it to BBB at the CASTLE!!!

Wow that is impressive. My dd is giong to :faint: when I show her this picture. Amazing job! did you have a pattern or just made it up as you went along? Its gorgeous!
I used Simplicity 9902 (the Belle dress) for the top. I added the sash to the top and the bow. It called for velcro in the back, so I also added a zipper instead. I just winged it for the skirt and underskirt.

Whoa! Hold the phone! Heather, that is AMAZING! You did a great job!
So worth killing your old machine to do this!

I just might have to TRY to CAB this one! Leigh is flipping out for it!

Thank you SO much!! I do still feel bad about killing my old girl, but I'm awful happy to have my new machine!!

HEATHER- I forgot to say the pup looks GORGEOUS in her outfit as well!
:rotfl2: Thank you, Josie was feeling left out!

I think it looks adorable!!

Oh, my Goodness...This is really cute! I Love the Birdie applique on it!!
Do I detect a glitter effect on the dark pink fabric? PERFECT Nana
Yes, both the dark and light pinks are sparkly!

These turned out so cute! I just love the ruffled jeans and the shirred peasant top! It gives me hope that I can keep sewing for Tessa for a few more years at least!

I checked out your pictures and there's some great stuff on there! I love the honeycomb!! Did you make the Hercules themed outfits? Is that you as Megara? Such great pictures!
