WOW JAJONE!! You were sure busy! Just love each one! What did you use for the pattern for the letters?

70 outfits! How many in your group?

I just used word and made the letters really big. We have 10 in our group-5 kids and 5 adults. We are going over Easter. I have 2 outfits planned for almost everyday. I know I'm crazy, but I'm a planner and it keeps the excitement alive for me until we go. I have almost all made already (13 left and a bunch of tshirt iron ons to do) The 3 girls will always match so when I figure out 1 outfit I just whip out 3. I have kept a schedule of what I want to sew each month until we go. As long as I can do 5 each month, I'm good.

It is most definitely JAMBO, not JAMBA. The librarian in me had to look it up or it would drive me to insanity.

YEAH I don;t have to make friends with the seam ripper again.

I love the outfits. I could not handle making 70 custumes. I would go crazy. And my hubby would lock me up and take my plastic away.

eeyore3847 I love it with the apron. It's the best of both worlds dressy warm and comfy. Great idea.

We already had the discussion this am of how much more $$$. The outfits are a xmas gift for 2 of my nieces, so that is money we would have spent already.....at least we would have spent some of that money

Hi!! If you are still needing the fabric code. For the Mickey head on red and its cotton flannel. I bought it yesterday at Hancocks on sale for $4.89 a yard normally $6.99. I am abought to make a robe and pajamas. The code is #6841 thats what is on the fabric or do you need the one on the recepit?? If so I will look at it?

HI - the fabric from Joann's is just regular cotton(not flannel), but i dont have the receipt anymore but on the salvage of the fabric it has #6841- chucked it in the trash as i left the store - bummer!

I am making a lion costume and I am taking 6 inch pieces of ribbon, gluing the ends and then gluing to the costume (which is a thin fleece) to make the mane. I have Alene's fabric glue which is supposed to be quick stick...or whatever, but it isn't too great.

Anyone know what I could use that would work better? I have to sit and keep pushing the ends down.

I would have said to sew them on, but then we went to this resale shop looking for costumes the other day and I found one like you're making. It looks like they used hot glue? It's clear and those ribbons are on there really really good. I think they make a hot glue for fabric? It turned out really cute...whoever made this one did a good job and the ribbons stick up really cute on the hat part so it looks like a big fluffy mane. She used 2 different colors of ribbon too, which I think added to the cuteness

Eeyore3847-The "give thanks" applique would be a great touch! I can definitely understand wanting to move on to the Christmas projects though.

Was just taking a break from things & well, you girls have "SEW" inspired me...I'm working on a prince costume for DS & have to sew on 24 buttons now! This has to be the worst sewing pattern/project I've ever attempted!!! My seam ripper & I have become the best of friends

Then I have to start other DS' Mickey pjs (he keeps stealing my fabric & wrapping it around himself-hugging it , very excited to get these sewed!!!!) I've got to get these done tonight before bath time or he's gonna let me know what an awful Mom I am for sure!

Where is everyone? These are some travel pillow cases that I made. Super quick and easy. The girls Disney pillowcases will have rick rack along the seam between the red gingham and white. The white fabric is that minky stuff - SUPER SOFT, the others are made from fannel.

Love these! I am going to have to case these!

My grammie ended up taking over the sewing of my costume- Thanks grammie- I have a ton to do and on 4 more days!!! So it is all basted together I tried it on today and it fits good. She is going to get it all sewed up and it will be ready tomorrow- but I might not get over there until monday. So I will put it on and have Dh take pics before we leave. It is so cute I'm really getting excited.

Your daughter is adorable and the pumpkins are awesome! Great job!

I just threw together Tigger using the face cut out of an old Halloween costume I got second hand.


I'm so proud of myself for completing sooo much this weekend. I also did 3 shirts for my DSIL and finished a pheasant cinderella top for my DN xmas present. I sewed the elastic on 3 tutu skirts and have one more to go. It's only Sunday morning! I only have my DS15mos here today, the other 2 are at grandma's so I have time to sew again. 3 minimum bananas right? Sorry for the long post, just haven't posted any completed projects for so long I got a little excited

All of the outfits are awesome! You are a "sewing machine!"

Ok, so I finished the thanksgiving outfit, I think. Here is the 3 peices finished. I was thinking of still adding the apron but it might make it way tooo busy. a sash for the shirt and pants combo probably and maybe appliqueing GIVE THANKS on the bodice. I don't know, want to start on xmas already so I may just leave it the way it is..

I finally started on Zoe's Halloween costume. I'd bought some cute green wings earlier this month with no specific plan and she decided she wanted to be Tink. Well, as cute as Tink is, her outfit is kind of plain plus not really warm enough for this time of year in our area. I decided to use lime green for most of the outfit but I'm adding fall colors as accents. Here's what I have so far:

I ended up using 5 1/2 yards of fabric for the pettiskirt and could have used even more but I bought all that the local JoAnns had. It's not as full as a Kaiya Eve pettiskirt but it works. I want to make some kind of sheer overskirt that I can attach leaves and flowers to. That way the pettiskirt can be easily worn with other skirts later. I have some stretch velour (in lime, of course) to use for a leotard and leggings. I'll probably add a few leaves and/or small flowers at the neckline of the leotard unless I can think of a way to add some to the wing straps. So far, Zoe seems to like what I've done and hasn't pointed out that it doesn't look much like Tinkerbell. LOL I did casually comment that the costume is Tink going to a harvest party just in case the subject of my deviations comes up.

Wow! I think I am caught up! Sorry if I missed anyone, everything is absolutely fabulous though! Soooo glad I went to my 10 year reunion! I had a BLAST! It was soooo fun! We didn't get home until MIDNIGHT!

Also, YES my miss piggy had a purple dress and gloves! She has a sweet story behind her and such sentimental value! I hope I always have her! I should take a pic of her and put it in my avatar!

I know it's been a while since I've seen an apron dress around here, but I have a question about them. The pattern has you putting buttons on and I"m not quite understanding the directions. Would anyone who has made one explain the buttons to me or take a picture of theirs?

I can't wait to show you all of my creations for our Thanksgiving trip! Just have a few finishing touches left!

Alrighty, Lisa! I've been waiting for someone to spill the beans about pettiskirts. How was it? What fabric did you use? Did you use the YCMT pattern? I want to give it a try, but I'm SKEERED!

I'm not sure what the fabric is called but it's a sheer knit although it doesn't have a lot of stretch. I got it at JoAnn's with the line that is called "Just Pretend" or something like that. They had this in green, pink, lavender, blue and white with coordinating tulle and stretch velour. It's usually $8 per yard but it was 50% off when I bought it... which is still more than I would typically spend on costume fabric but I figure this can work under other skirts as a petticoat. I think the fabric might be called tricot chiffon or something like that. Because it's a knit, it won't fray/unravel like a woven will... which meant I didn't have to finish the edges of the bottom ruffle. The fabric isn't as soft as the Kaiya Eve fabric but I think that's because what I used has glitter on it.

I didn't use a pattern but made it basically like a tiered twirl skirt. I did two layers for this because the first one was definitely not full enough. For that layer, the bottom one, the small ruffle at the bottom is 8 widths long, the next tier 4, the second 2 and the top 1. For the top layer, I made the small ruffle 18 widths, the next tier 9, the third 3 and the top 1. I used a cotton woven for the waistband. The fabric I used wasn't very slick but I think the glitter helped there. I don't know how a plain version of the same kind of fabric would be to sew, though.

I'd never have even seriously considered doing this if I didn't have my ruffle foot. That allowed me to ruffle and stitch to the next layer in one pass. If I were to do this again, I'd make both layers like the top one. I'd also try to figure out how to cut the strips the length of the fabric instead of the width so I didn't have so many lengths to join.

thanks for the tips! I'm gonna give it a whirl. It's just fabric, right? If I mess it up, I'll just throw it away and pretend it never happened!

you know the sewing itself did not take that long to do. except the peasant tops, those annoy me but are adorable! have 5 different colored ones to make today, but of course putting it off to talk here! HEHE anywho, it was the design that took awhile, I was trying not to get overwhelmed and make it too busy.

I love those peasant tops too, however I haven't had the guts to try one just yet! Maybe one day! LOL.

Aww that is too cute...sounds like he definitely loves the fabric already. I hope you make your goal and get them completed before bedtime!!!
