New Member Website

I am checking it out now. The Vacation Points section looks similar to before with 'null' for AKV and 'Reservation Points' instead of vacation points.

I was just there looking for point requirements for next year ... and found out that there are no links to any 2008 points charts. Those charts had been available before on the old website. I sent an e-mail to member services through the website to tell them - hopefully that will fix some of these other glitches that these first two posts have run into, too.

The "Points Activity" statement isn't showing any activity. It shows each of my contracts, but none of the history of banking, borrowing, using points for a reservation, etc.

It is strange that they released the new website without fixing the "null" resort problem for AKV.

Also "points borrowed in" is 0 for a contract where I did borrow points. "Points borrowed out" for the next UY shows the correct number of borrowed points. That is not a new bug -- it's been like that for a while.

It doesn't surprise me that there are a few glitches. Hopefully, they will discover and fix them asap.

I'm glad to see the new site is finally here!

I do like that they put a link to "vacation points" right on the first page. That is the part of the website I use most often and it's faster and easier to get to that info now.

Well, at first glance it seems they've just moved some stuff around and used a different color palette and some newer photos. I'm still at a loss as to why "vacation details," which to me is a major reason for a member website visit, is still buried in tiny font on the points page. How is it that didn't merit it's own listing on the My Membership section?

Were any members part of a beta test or survey group asked about the usability of this website's navigational features? I'm no fan of people who gripe and complain about everything new, but I'm struggling here to see what the functional improvements are (not just visual). At some point, there must have been a meeting where the Disney powers that be had to make a business case for updating the DVC member website, and I can't imagine their being willing to sink money into an overhaul for just some pictures/colors. I guess I'm just a bit sensitive to this as I have to do this as part of my job.

And maybe it is just the way our display settings are set on our computers at home, but the DVC member site takes up just over half of our screen, with a big piece of empty real estate on the right. Perhaps this has just been done to ensure folks with older machines/browsers can still see it...just a bit frustrating to squint at the text with all that blank space we can't maximize into!

OK, it's Monday, it's hot as Hades here in Chicago, and our dishwasher is broken. That's why I'm crabby. :-)

OK - it appears that the Contact Member Services feature is not working, either. I've tried twice now to contact them through the website about the 2008 point chart omissions, but each mail has been returned as undeliverable. I would imagine they'll figure these things out at some point, though, right?!

I like it, maybe because it's new. (But then, I liked the old one, too  ). I guess I'm just glad that the information on my site is correct. ;)

I do like those little animated foursome, even though I had to save them for when one of my kids visits and can tell me what they're for and how they can be used :lmao: . I am soooooo computer-challenged.:sad2:

It seems to be the same thing under the hood.

The vacation countdown does have an AKV selection and it is supposed to count down to the second, but it does not allow one to enter a time of day into the countdown.

Also, the vacation calculator is the same. They could have improved that imo.

.. not much has changed. :confused3

It looks nice in the colours they have chosen but i cant see many huge differences to the usability of the site. I guess they must have changed something to go ahead with the change.. :surfweb:

I'm not a computer expert by any stretch, so I could be way off here... but...
Is it possible there is some new underlying code that will allow for future on line booking?? :smokin:

And I think it makes sense to report them here as we find them in hopes that the developers check in here to see what glitches we have uncovered!

yes...One can only hope! :)

I like the new design but the section about the various DVC resorts no longer has any links to any of the resort "tours." I enjoy those for a quick resort fix!:confused3

I just took a look and overall I'm disappointed. Not really anything new other than a "new look". I found it a bit slower and I keep getting the message "This page contains both secure and non secure items. Do you want to display the non secure items" not once but twice each time I go to a member specific area such as point summaries. Does anyone know how to get ride of that message (or if I even want to LOL)?

Overall I don't see much improvement. Maybe that is the next phase.

I've been watching for an AKV picture for the countdown and just a few minutes ago it was there at the very bottom.

I totally agree! I absolutely LOVE the new look!
