Organizing 101/ March-The Basement

PN96-Yeah for you and Dh! Hope that he stays under control, NO FLARE-UPS!! :wizard:

I'm done because the kids and I did this project (and it was a project) during Christmas break. DS15 wanted a sleepover, and that was what he had to do to get it...

And I don't have a Living room either, so I have 2 months off :rolleyes1 (OK, don't hate me, I never finished my craft room...:sad1: )

Glad to know the attic is May, since I don't have one of those either, and with the cruise I wouldn't have time. Don't have a garage for Sept, but it looks like I will be busy for the rest of the months.

here is the list:
Jan - Family Room completed
Feb- Home Office I didn't even attempt to touch this one
March - Basementdon't have- maybe I will try tackling the office
April - Living Roomsame room as the family room
May - Atticdon't have one
June - Dining Roomonly things in here are my pantry and the table
July - Bathrooms2 of these
Aug - Bedrooms2 bedrooms but only 1 is used, technically we have 3 in the house but one is DHs music room and I won't touch that for anything
Sept - Garagebig and but we keep both cars in it so it is not too bad
Oct - ClosetsI have lots of these- my walk in, a large hall one, linen, 2 other bedroom closets, and a AC closet
Nov - Kitchenmy mother just did this room but I will need to do it again
Dec - Laundry Centerfilled with tons of stuff

I don't have a living room so I'm taking 2 months for the basement too. Plus I miss a full week of March. I also don't have an attic but I do have a loft over the garage. 1 bathroom, and a separate linen closet, and only 2 bedrooms, easy enough for me.

I do how ever have a huge building too so I have to lump that in somewhere, probably with the garage. If you need a specific room let me know and I can PM you the list.

Well- I guess I have a few months to keep working on the office and it is cleaner(only because I shoved all the papers in a big box for mom coming.

We only have 2 rooms downstairs, a kitchen and a big room which is a living room/dining room/family room/lounge/scraproom and home office! I so need to actually start doing some tidying. DF's parents are staying tomorrow night so need to get on with the spare room today and put all my clothes away (half my wardrobe is on the bed from last week when I had one of those "try everything on because I don't know what to wear" moments!) In fact I'm going to go and do it now!

DONE!

Just opened my wardrobe and had a heart attack, most of the clothes are thrown in there, not on hangers or folded, it's an embarassment. Don't have time to do it today but it really needs doing soon.

I am so in this month! And I am done!!!

Did I mention we don't have basements in Florida? :teeth: ;)

And before you tell me to clean my craft room, I don't have one of those either, that would be my kitchen!:thumbsup2

No basement, no craft room.. Do you babysit? I can send you 5 kids right now and that will allow me time to get caught up.. It won't take more than uh, 3-4days! :rotfl2:

Yeah, no problem. I hope they are good at folding laundry. If not I have plenty of weeding that needs doing!:thumbsup2

So mother nature gave me a head start on cleaning the basement. As I type I have 2 pumps running to get 3 1/2 inches of water out. I took pics, called to plumber, called the dumpster place, and called DH who is currently waiting at O'Hare airport. OH the joy of it all!!!

Next up is calling my insurance to see if I have flood coverage. The good news, it finally stopped raining. The bad news, the tax guy is going to be PO'ed cause he ain't gettin' paid. Oh and more good news, found one of the dead mice! :teeth:

SO beer and pizza at my place for anyone that wants to come help me shlep boxes to the dumpster! :thumbsup2

Okay, you are going to have the coolest page for this month' challenge.

Sorry to hear about the mess. Could totally go for some Pizza right now, but I guess I'm not going to make it there in time. :hourglass

I'm on my way... no beer for me.. .I'll have 5 kids in tow so we will have plenty of hands on deck.. Again, I'm so sorry that it's flooding...

Sorry to hear that Buffy. We went through the same thing last Spring, minus a sump pump. We have one now, of course. Pixie dust to you on the cleanup effort!!

Quick update:
The water is slooooowwwwlllyyy going away. The pumps worked like a charm, and some of the water receded back through the floor.
The dumpster arrived and they will come get it Monday before we leave. DH is really upset and discouraged, it seems that lately every time we get ahead in money and time and organization something comes along and messes it up. But I'm just going with the flow, pun totally intended!
In the grand scheme of things it's just stuff, most of which can be replaced. I wasn't going to bother with the insurance company but 90% of the boys books are destroyed, probably about $3000 worth. They have a HUGE library. So the cataloging begins.

I must say though, through this I found out who my true friends are. I called my neighbor whose DH is a plumber. He dropped what he was doing to go get me a pump and did not charge me to put it in. Then Chille's DH had come over to get D dude, his son, and he helped me carry buckets of water up before the sump pump came. He and Chille are both going to come over and help throw stuff out Sunday. And I've been carting 3 boys to and from school for a friend who broke her leg. I called her DH and he stopped pumping out his own basement to get my kids from school because plumber guy was on his way.

And last but absolutely not least ya'll are here to keep me sane!!! Thanks for letting me vent! I truly appreciate it!

This most definitely will make for an interesting layout.

Huge hugs Buffy.. YOU know if I were closer I would have been right there for you!!! Check you PMs.. and remember.. we love ya!!!
It's great that you had such good friends to help...
