Will you wear your nurse's uniform???

I have a better idea. How about if I wear my jail warden's uniform, and I can just hose you down with very cold water to clean your wounds.

Am I the only one who doesn't know about altoids...:scared: Do I want to know? I'm not starting a thread about it. :rotfl:

Hi Paige :wave2: I just sent you an e-mail.

No DON'T start a thread about that!!!!!!!! :scared: They'll never believe you didn't know.

Hi honey, still sick?

Good Morning everyone!

Are you talking about Altoids...those mint things? :confused3

I must be hanging out here too much, now I have a headache. I haven't had one in weeks.

But I am feeling very stressed and upset today so I think that is why. DD6 is having difficulties with school and I don't know what to do. She is really struggling with reading and so she is going to the Reading Specialist (with my absolute support). But the only time the reading specialist can see her is during their "resource" time, so she misses Art, Music, and PE. She is devistated. She loves those classes and has come home crying every day because she missed them. She has also missed Recess several times because of it.

Now she is crying every morning before school and doesn't want to go. She hates reading and cries when she has to read at night because she is seeing it as a terrible thing that ruins her day. My heart is breaking. We are a family that loves reading and want her to know that joy also.

I have talked to her teacher, but there is just not anything they can do to change the schedule. I have the option of withdrawing my permission for her to go to the Specialist, but she really needs the help and I do believe that reading should be a top priority. The teacher strongly recommends that she continue also. If her reading doen't improve, I really think she will be be held back.

So do I just figure this is one of those times that it sucks to be a responsible parent and tell her she just has to do it even if it makes her hate school and and hate and resent reading?????

Paige??? Vero???? HELP!! What do you think???

Running off to have lunch with a friend. I can't even cry on her shoulder cause she is one of those highly competitive "my kid can do everything better than your kid" types. Telling her something like this just adds fuel to her fire. :sad2: I need new friends!

LTS, That's a tough one and I'd be struggling if I were you, too. My gut reaction? Paige and Vero, cover your eyes... ;) I'd find a private tutor before or after school and let her go to the "specials", as we call them. You don't want her hating school. I'd figure out some way to work around what is currently happening--it's clearly not working for her and she is your primary concern. I know the school has hundreds of kids they need to think about and I do understand that, but she is your consideration.
