Where are we, Jersey? Bye, Phoenicians! An August 2017 TR * NEW DINING/TR LINKS*

As in March not an ugly view by any means but not our MK view. I mainly wanted it for the kids, but in the end it didn't matter because there was only one night we were at the resort during HEA anyway.
I'm not crazy about the courtyard view, either. And it seems a little worse when you add the limited view from the dormer balcony.

I totally agree with you on the redhead situation.
:thanks:

Love the train platform photos. Oh and yes, I know the balloon photo is funny but I'm actually envious. I wanted that one, but completely forgot to ask for it.
This is the first time we've gotten this shot so I was really happy about it!

I loved the Yacht Club. I do think it is one of my favorite resorts.
I'm glad you loved it! It's definitely a nice resort and I do think our room location colored my feelings. Plus the no carpet lol. WL still has my heart!

I think when Steve went to get some food one day he walked all the way to the BC because he wanted a salad and wanted the discount, LOL.
:rotfl2:more power to him!

Mmm I've had this before! Which one do you like better, this one or Gaston's Tavern?
I think Gaston's has a small edge. It's a bit softer than the one from Kusafiri, but really I liked them both :goodvibes

We saw this too! Insane! I never knew that it would go OUTSIDE the FOP line.
I don't remember FEA being like this! I mean, it's nowhere near as awesome as FOP but still..................

Love this picture of you guys!
Thank you

I'm here and I'm caught up, loving your TR so far.
Hey! :welcome: glad you're here! I recently got caught up on your TR but I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't read your PTR yet :o I'm so behind in general on the DIS it's sad. I'll get there before you finish, I promise!

Ugh, me either. IS this what they are going to all over property?
I sincerely hope not. So far it's 3 resorts I believe and I'm crossing my fingers that's it.

Tell me how you really feel. I will be sure to avoid this place like the plague.
LOL you should! I wouldn't have been so down on it if it weren't completely HORRIBLE! I wouldn't send my worst enemy there. Well maybe my worst enemy, but not my 2nd worst :D

I just recently started copying the picture from the folder in my computer and then pasting it right into the box on the Dis and it you get the 35 picture limit :thumbsup2
Thanks, I'm going to have to try this! The 10 picture limit is really annoying as I'm having to do almost every update in 2 parts here and on my dining report.

It's like a glimpse into my teenage boy future, times three :faint:
Oh yeah, get ready for it! I never thought boys would be as temperamental as girls and in some ways I do think they're easier, but attitude wise is not one of them lol

Yay for football...though I think I would be a nervous nelly if/when my kids play.

Glad you enjoyed some Stormalong Bay time. Glad to hear dinner was so good. Sorry MK was a tad bit of a bust after dinner. Nice on the BW entertainment and heck yea to moving to the best resort on property, our very, very soon-to-be new home, WL!

Yay for EMH! And double yay for a dead park (except Pandora). You may remember we haven't done Na'vi bc the boys decided to skip our half PM day in AK and return to MK that Friday night. So I'd like to do it eventually, but Chad is still saying that AK is his least favorite park, so I doubt we spend enough time there to get two days of FP and we will need to if we plan to do both Na'vi and FoP....though I'm not sure if I'm doing it ever based on motion sickness issues.

Not a fan of cinnamon rolls, as I've mentioned before, but if I was, that one would be amazing, I'm sure!

Love the margarita and the boba balls, but apparently I'm in the minority...lol.

Glad the room was ready but sorry about the view. And how annoying about the MB situation. I hope it got cleared up quickly! We really love WCC and I think we might try breakfast there this next trip.

That Norwegian ship looks beautiful! Is she new to their fleet? I am conflicted on cruising. We didn't love our last cruise (on Royal Caribbean) but we were on Freedom, which is such a huge ship that I think it impacted our trip. I am intrigued by the Disney classic fleet or maybe a Celebrity cruise on one of their smaller ships. It was nice that you got a little preview!

I know you didn't get the MK view you had hoped for, but that courtyard view looks nice to me! I love having a Courtyard view at WL to check out all the hustle and bustle going on at the resort! Did you all have an open or enclosed balcony?

Whispering Canyon looks fun! The menu has never really appealed to me but I am sure we will get there some time or another. Next year for my birthday I think I am going to wish for a CL stay at either AKL or WL :teeth:

That cruise ship was very pretty. My aunt looooves cruising. She cruises like I Disney. She keeps telling us we need to go on one, but I have no desire at all, outside of an Alaskan cruise some day. But I really like the *idea* of a cruise. I think the ships are cool, basically floating cities. It's fascinating!

Then they had our itinerary printed out. I'd made changes since they printed it but still pretty cool:

img_6624-jpg.268398

This is a nice touch!

Oh wow, this is really nice! I love Artist Point, this is very intriguing. I've never seen this before, I wonder if it's always offered in CL or if it is just a once in a while thing?? Very cool regardless, and I'd have liked to get in on that!

That really sucks about the band/key issues. I do hope that gets straightened out, because I want your "send the kids in and out of the lounge on their own" thing to come to fruition!! That's one thing that's very appealing about staying club level...my kids could go fetch for me :cool1::rotfl:

I got to spend yesterday in Manhattan at a travel agent luncheon on the Norwegian cruise ship, the Gem:

That is so cool!!! I didn't realize you were close enough to Manhattan to go for the day!! I know it's a long shot but @chunkymonkey and I are planning to meet up this Thursday night in Manhattan in the evening to hang out and maybe get some dessert!! So if you are able...how fun would that be!!

OK now just catching up on your TR. That room at the WL CL looked fantastic...even with the not so stellar view...I'll take it. And I always love hearing about the food on these CL rooms. Makes me think about maybe renting points one day to be able to stay in one of these places someday...I think that may be the only way it will happen but...you never know!! Dinner at WC looks like fun too.

Yay for football...though I think I would be a nervous nelly if/when my kids play.
Believe me I'm nervous :scared: I was never nervous about basketball, even with multiple sprained ankles and broken fingers, until Ricky had the dislocated knee episode last Feb. Since then I cringe whenever he goes down. As for football I cannot handle watching him tackle and be tackled, but he loves it and is almost 16 so what can I do? He has friends he started playing football in kindergarten, we always said no b/c it was 2+ hours of practice 5 nights a week. At least he's padded up pretty good in football, the only thing that makes me feel a bit better lol!

Love the margarita and the boba balls, but apparently I'm in the minority...lol.
 yup, apparently nobody would mind if you hoarded all Disney's boba balls. I do remember you not returning to Pandora to do the rides. I think the boys would like Na'vi and you'd appreciate the beauty, but unless you were going to AK for other things it's not something I'd go there for alone.

We really love WCC and I think we might try breakfast there this next trip.
The breakfast looks good! I thought about trying to add it while we were there but it just didn't work. I'm positive there will be more WL stays in our future so hopefully we'll get to do it :)

That Norwegian ship looks beautiful! Is she new to their fleet?
She was very beautiful, especially the not cheap "Haven" suites with bathrooms the size of the regular cabins lol! Nope she's not new, actually old as in from 2006 or 2004? Um I should have listed those the other way around, whatever I can't do math anyway :snooty: We did learn a bit about their newest ship the Bliss which looks absolutely gorgeous!

Believe it or not I've never been on a cruise; we had one booked about 14 years ago but had to cancel due to my Grandmother passing. If we were to do one it would be Disney, just because they sound awesome. People who love to cruise often love all lines, but the Disney cruises seem to get the most praise. Let me know if you ever decide to try another cruise ;)

I know you didn't get the MK view you had hoped for, but that courtyard view looks nice to me! I love having a Courtyard view at WL to check out all the hustle and bustle going on at the resort! Did you all have an open or enclosed balcony?
Open balcony so that was nice. I don't mind the courtyard view, I think we've just been spoiled. We had about 6, 7 trips in a row at various resorts with outstanding views so the courtyard view here in March and not getting our request this time were small letdowns, but certainly nothing that bothers us.

Next year for my birthday I think I am going to wish for a CL stay at either AKL or WL :teeth:
LOL well just do a good job blowing out those candles ;) :rotfl2:

That cruise ship was very pretty.
It was, and it was the first time I've ever been on a cruise ship so it was very cool to see. I will say though, I was a bit disappointed there was only one pool. Most, or many, ships have multiple pools.

My aunt looooves cruising. She cruises like I Disney.
I love this sentence :goodvibes

She keeps telling us we need to go on one, but I have no desire at all, outside of an Alaskan cruise some day. But I really like the *idea* of a cruise
Honestly, I don't have a desire to cruise, either. I WANT to have the desire. I just don't :(

I think the ships are cool, basically floating cities. It's fascinating!
I thought it was so neat, I kept forgetting we were on a ship unless I looked out at the water! So I was fine, thinking 'hey, you don't even know you're on a ship!" Then I realized we weren't moving :rotfl:and remembered I might feel differently if we were.

Oh wow, this is really nice! I love Artist Point, this is very intriguing. I've never seen this before, I wonder if it's always offered in CL or if it is just a once in a while thing??
I honestly don't know if it's a regular thing, I know @Wood Nymph mentioned when she stayed CL there they got a complimentary cheese plate from Artist Point so maybe what they offer varies. I do wish we got to do this and if we stay there again CL I'm going to make sure I read everything in the room right away!

Aw, I would absolutely love to meet you guys! Unfortunately Chris has Parent's Night at school. You aren't that close to NYC are you? I'm only about 90 minutes at the most :goodvibes

That room at the WL CL looked fantastic...even with the not so stellar view
It was definitely a great room and the view wasn't bad in any way! Just not MK lol

rry it's been awhile since my last update! Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. I got to spend yesterday in Manhattan at a travel agent luncheon on the Norwegian cruise ship, the Gem:

We toured different rooms, got to see the casino, theater, a few restaurants, and then after lunch we were able to walk around on our own for about an hour. I went with a fellow agent from my agency who lives about an hour from me and went on the Universal training with me back in Feb. This was my first time on a cruise ship believe it

Ooh how lovely!!

The whole spa was amazing and while giving us the tour some of the staff even gave us a few minutes of massage. Ahh...........

Haha I would consider that the best part too!!!

I didn't actually read this until close to our checkout day, but even if I'd read it earlier I don't think we would have gotten there this trip:

img_7270-jpg.268399

Oh how cool! That is a nice touch!

img_6593-jpg.268434

Notice the cold glasses in there for beer later on. They had 2 beers on tap and in the evening, a CM was stationed by them to pour and also to serve wine.

That sounds soooo nice!

That's a pretty view! We made our way down to the lobby for lunch. We weren't happy about our bands not working but were hopeful the system would come up soon and didn't want to waste time worrying about it right now. The main problem was having only one key to get in, and that key wouldn't work to open the lounge door so if we wanted to get in the lounge we had to call a special lounge CM #, tell them we were at the gate, and they'd come open it. A big reason we decided to try club was so the boys could come and go from the lounge without us, especially if they didn't want to come to a park with us. With only one room key and having to call to access the lounge, it seemed this would be tricky and annoying. But again, we didn't want to worry about it now especially since we were starving!

Argh I would be so annoyed with the MB situation. I thought CL was supposed to make life easier LOL!!

He said we needed to build a castle with them so that's what he did. If you don't know, at WCC when you ask your server for ketchup (which isn't on the table) EVERY table in the restaurant brings you their ketchup!

Haha so cute! I have yet to dine here too!

It was, and it was the first time I've ever been on a cruise ship so it was very cool to see. I will say though, I was a bit disappointed there was only one pool. Most, or many, ships have multiple pools.
I'm not sure if this is true of most ships. I've only been on two, but they only had 1 pool each. Maybe they were older and the newer ships have multiple.

I love this sentence :goodvibes
Yeah, I thought it was cool too!

Honestly, I don't have a desire to cruise, either. I WANT to have the desire. I just don't :(

l

We went on a cruise last year and although it was okay, in retrospect, for what we spent, I was ho hum. It would've been cheaper if we'd just gotten an all inclusive resort in the Bahamas and it would have given us more time for sightseeing or excursions or just relaxing. I say this because although there are a lot of activities on the ship, they happen at a particular schedule, so if you want to do two things that are scheduled at the same time, you can't. Also, if there is nothing scheduled you want to do, then you (or at least I did) find yourself trying to figure out what can fill the void. I also wasn't impressed with the food(mostly the buffet, but somewhat in the dining room)...I'd heard how fabulous the food was on a cruise ship and so I guess I had my sights set too high. Just so I don't sound overly critical, I'm somewhat of a picky eater, so I suppose some of the food issue might be mine to own, but I'll also say when I'm at Disney, I can always find something I like.

Hey there! Happy Wednesday evening  Enjoying a nice breeze coming in the sliders, we've had temps in the low 80's again after a couple weeks of high 60's during the days, but now it's down to the low 60's and feels great. Always seems to warm right back up when the kids start school! FYI for those of you in the south: our schools don't have A/C :scared:
Wanted to share some news about our adults-only Nov. trip. I believe I mentioned somewhere in the beginning of this TR that we were booked at BWI with NO discount. None at all, as none was available. And it was not cheap but we like our deluxes :snooty: Anyway, a room finally opened up with a TA rate at CSR and since we enjoyed our stay there, we booked it minus our arrival night which wasn't available. Not as convenient for F&W as BW, but we've already been at deluxe resorts 3x this year and saving some $ wasn't a bad idea! I booked our arrival night at POR, which would be a new to us resort.
WELL
Today I finally went to link our reservations because you know, I do our stuff after clients, and somehow our POR reservation got cancelled and the $ refunded. Huh :confused3 No POR available now, so on arrival night we're here:

IMG_3232.JPG

Like that awesomely in focus picture I took on our first stay there? It might be weird staying at a beautiful monorail resort for a night and then CSR, but I think we'll survive. It'll definitely be convenient as I have to head right to GS when we get there and pick up my TA ticket, and if we were at POR I'd have to go to DS. Not totally UNconvenient, but I like the convenience of Poly-MK better.
Sorry for momentarily turning this TR into a PTR, let's get back on track:

Huh, Didn't Know That Was There

I left off with us finishing a delicious lunch at WCC and going to do some Wilderness exploring. The boys hadn't seen much of the lodge except the lobby and the pool from inside, so although it was about 125 degrees out we went to see the main pool and the new DVC pool:

IMG_6613.JPG

Continuing around to Boulder Ridge, we saw these guys chillaxin:

IMG_6716.JPG

Were they always there? Anyone? Next to them was this:

IMG_6715.JPG

Again not sure if it's new or not. This area was under construction and not open the two times Steve and I stayed here previously so it was all new to us!
A close-up of a cabin:

IMG_6615.JPG

We were SO hot, but we saw a sign that said "sports court" and were intrigued. I hadn't read anything that said WL was getting a basketball court; currently only 3 resorts have (had) one and as many of you know, the boys are HUGE into basketball. In fact before we moved our Aug. dates we'd promised Ricky we'd stay at a resort with a court, so we trekked on, slowly melting.
Next up was an area I know is knew, a cute little grill/picnic area:

IMG_6616.JPG

Look at the footprints, the resorts guests aren't the only ones who use this area ;):wave2::wave2:
And wait, what's this next to the picnic area???

IMG_6620.JPG

Ricky was so excited he had to post a pic on Instagram :rotfl2:At least he knows how to use it! He insisted he'd be back later in the week to play, and we insisted unless it was at 4am there was no way he'd end up playing in the 376 degree heat. He did not end up playing, but at least on future trips if we promise him a court the WL is in the running!
On our walk back we went past the outside entrance to Sturdy Branches gym and Ricky wanted to look inside. Unfortunately our MB's wouldn't open the door :headache: so we waited a few minutes for another guest to come and open the door for us. Annoying. I took a couple pictures but can't find them, however Ricky was impressed with the gym.

It was time to head back to the room and see if our bands opened our door which was doubtful given the gym experience, but I also needed to shower before we went to our next park. We had to use our ONE key to get in. While I showered, Steve took our bands to the lounge to see if the CM there had an info or could do anything to fix the situation yet. I looked at the toiletries in our room as there were a few extra ones than we normally get:

IMG_6626.JPG

Spoiler alert, that solar relief gel comes in handy later in the week and it's not for sunburn!
I showered and Steve returned with no answer to when our bands may work. We were both getting frustrated - dare I say, angry? The next morning our plan was to sleep in a bit with the possibility of Steve and I going to a park if we were up and felt like it. In that case, the kids would be able to hit the lounge, Roaring Fork, whatever while we were gone. As it was now with one key, either we wouldn't have one with us or we'd have to leave them without one, and either way they'd have to call a lounge CM if they wanted to get in.
We all left to go to Epcot but stopped at the desk in the lobby to at least see about getting a couple more KTTW cards. The CM behind the desk told Steve nope, they don't have anymore.
That's right, they had no more, so they could only give us one. He said ok and walked away but I was like OH NO, not happening. I nicely said to her " I'm sorry, but that just won't work for us." I went on to explain how a huge reason we booked CL was so that the kids could come and go as they please, and with one key and no real access to the lounge that couldn't happen. At first she said she was sorry but there was nothing she could do. I politely yet more firmly reiterated that for the price we paid ( not mentioning the discount we got) to not have access to the lounge and to have to share one key between 4 people including a teenager and pre-teen who expected to stay at the resort while their parents went to parks was not acceptable. Again she apologized and gave us $100 off our bill as well as pulling another key out of somewhere...........................I thanked her and moved on.
I won't go in to our BW troubles from 2015 but if you're familiar with that trip, there was no way I was taking an answer I didn't like and accepting it! I still wasn't happy with the non-working MB's but at least we got something, and I didn't want the situation to ruin the night. At that point we'd just hope by morning the bands were working!
It was 4:15 at this point and Steve wanted to take the boat to MK to take the monorail to Epcot so that the kids could experience the boat, even though this meant TWO monorails. We started out with about a 15 minute wait for a boat, which normally wouldn't be too bad if you didn't have sweat dripping everywhere sweat can drip. This brought out Chris's attitude so he decided he didn't want to sit with us on the boat:

IMG_6629.JPG
:rotfl: :rotfl2: Chris with his new boat friends. We started laughing when the guy on the end sat next to him because he also hates being in the middle of people, but he just turned his head farther away from the direction we were in......he kinda looks related to the guy in the yellow hat from the back!

In addition to the boat and two monorail rides, monorail black was "undergoing maintenance", so we sat waiting for that to finish for quite awhile. It was 5:20 when we finally walked off the monorail at Epcot; needless to say we took the bus to Epcot the rest of the trip! We had a 6:30 dinner reservation outside the park so we had just a bit of time to explore.

UP NEXT: IT FEELS OH SO GOOD...................

Oh this is nice! Are these just in CL or all over the resort do you know?

We all left to go to Epcot but stopped at the desk in the lobby to at least see about getting a couple more KTTW cards. The CM behind the desk told Steve nope, they don't have anymore.
That's right, they had no more, so they could only give us one. He said ok and walked away but I was like OH NO, not happening. I nicely said to her " I'm sorry, but that just won't work for us." Good for you! They at least need to have a back up system. You can't expect guests to not have access to their room or the lounge all day.

Haha I would consider that the best part too!!!
I wish I took more pictures of the spa! As we were touring it, the guests who were boarding to leave that afternoon were getting their tours and were being told where to sign up for all the spa experiences (the ship was heading to New England). That day and the next were already booked up for most things and the lines to book were extremely long! If I were sailing, they could've told me every service was $500 and I would have booked a half dozen of them lol. There was even a Dr. doing minor cosmetic procedures!

Argh I would be so annoyed with the MB situation. I thought CL was supposed to make life easier LOL!!
::yes:: I mean, I get that they have tech issues, I do. But like Steve said, if Starbucks is having tech issues and can't process reward points (or whatever they are, I don't Starbucks), they don't tell customers they can't use them; they figure it out so they can still accommodate them.

Haha so cute! I have yet to dine here too!
I'd go again! Not fancy, but fun!

I'm not sure if this is true of most ships. I've only been on two, but they only had 1 pool each. Maybe they were older and the newer ships have multiple.
I know the DCL ships have multiple pools, and many others do also but it could be that the older ones don't - the one I was on is over 10 years old.

We went on a cruise last year and although it was okay, in retrospect, for what we spent, I was ho hum. I
I also wasn't impressed with the food(mostly the buffet, but somewhat in the dining room)...I'd heard how fabulous the food was on a cruise ship and so I guess I had my sights set too high.
Funny, the one thing I always hear is how fantastic cruise ship food is, and I was not impressed with the lunch they served us! I'm not sure if what they served us was normally served in that restaurant or "special" for us lol, but it tasted no better than typical wedding food to me. We walked by one of the 24 hour cafeteria-style.......food options, OMG why are words escaping me now??? Anyway, the desserts there looked much better than what we'd been served.

Oh this is nice! Are these just in CL or all over the resort do you know?
I want to say the solar gel, food scrub, mouthwash and little things of H2O cream are only CL, because we've never gotten those before at our other deluxe stays including our stay at AKL in May :)

Good for you! They at least need to have a back up system. You can't expect guests to not have access to their room or the lounge all day.
Exactly! And if you're going to give a key to open the room door, which some hotels still do, that's fine, but you have to give more than one!

The MB's are really important so it is a problem when the system is down. It is amazing how you have to be persistent at times or sorry you get NOTHIN! Isn't it amazing how long transportation can take sometimes there.

Love your son sitting by himself on the boat!:rotfl:

He insisted he'd be back later in the week to play, and we insisted unless it was at 4am there was no way he'd end up playing in the 376 degree heat.
Boy, the temperatures sure rise fast in your TRs :rotfl2:

which normally wouldn't be too bad if you didn't have sweat dripping everywhere sweat can drip.
:lmao: Yeah, as a fellow August traveler... I hear that!
:rotfl: :rotfl2: Chris with his new boat friends.
:rotfl: Oh this just cracks me up.

I cannot believe the whole MB/key debacle! And what do they mean they "don't have more keys" - that's crazy! And how convenient that suddenly one "appeared" out of thin air. Good for you for insisting - CL has certain perks that should be a given!

We enjoyed CSR in July. Their concierge staff was amazing!!! You should enjoy it! We had a new room in the Cabanas section, and thought it was nicely done...The construction didn't bother us in the least.

I'd stay at Poly for a night, no problem there...That worked out nicely for you!!!!

Sorry about all the fuss at WL...I'm so glad you didn't put up with any s---, and got the discount and the extra key (that they had no more of)...I hope your stay there gets better...

Haha that's really cool that he has found his true love at WL!

img_6626-jpg.269388

Spoiler alert, that solar relief gel comes in handy later in the week and it's not for sunburn!

Sweet! Do they only give all these products for CL rooms? I got the gel and the foot lotion when we staed at GC at disneyland. I heard that GF has them too. But the other H20 beauty stuff I have not seen before!

My point exactly about how CL was supposed to make your life easier, not harder! And how do they run out of KTTW cards?!?
At least you got a bit of a discount.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: Chris with his new boat friends. We started laughing when the guy on the end sat next to him because he also hates being in the middle of people, but he just turned his head farther away from the direction we were in......he kinda looks related to the guy in the yellow hat from the back!

Haha that's so funny. That's something I do with my sisters too.

Love those club level h2o amenities! We got them once at the GF... will report back in October as to whether they are still there!

I love your boat diva :rotfl2:

Thanks for the tour of the new offerings at WL! That grill pavilion looks so nice!!!
