Vegas with Teens - Would you splurge?

Are you doing any buffets? We did 3 in June which was a lot for a 4 day trip. We tried Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan, Bayside Buffet at Mandalay Bay and Bacchanal at Caesars. Bacchanal was by far the best, followed by Wicked Spoon. We plan to try Aria's buffet in February.

No we don't plan on any. I suppose Vegas buffets are better than other places but most buffets don't sit well with my stomach. We usually don't eat buffets anywhere. We are also not big eaters. Right now daughter and I never finish our meal at a local restaurants. We have even split meals and not finished before. We plan to eat at Gordon Ramsay Cafe and Grill. Right now I have reservations for the Eiffel Tower but not sure I am going to keep it. I have it reserved at 4:30 for our last night before the Michael Jackson One show at Mandalay Bay at 9:00.

ETA I just looked at Wicked Spoon and it would be 4 adult (kids are adult age) at $49.00 each. That doesn't appear to include a drink since they are selling a bottomless beverage pass for extra for drinks. Yea, that is way over priced for a buffet for us. We just don't eat that much. I would rather take that overall price of $200 and eat elsewhere. I see their takeout express is $20.00 which is better. The plus side is perhaps you don't need to plan ahead with a reservation.

My husband's co-workers says the Top of Binions Steak House is reasonable price with a great view. We may go here. Mostly we are trying not to make a lot of plans and reservations.... because then it becomes an over scheduled trip like a Disney trip and becomes no fun. We might just end up eating McDonald's or Subway or whatever other fast food place is nearby.

I understand. We aren’t big eaters either but hey, it’s Vegas... lol and most buffets end up counting for 2 meals so it could work out. You may want to try hash hash a go go at the linq. Also I cannot wait to try in and out burger! There is also a burger place in Mandalay Bay that is awesome. Otherwise many of the casinos have food courts with affordable options. We tried the food court in the Venetian last time.

Also try the restaurants in the malls- fashion show mall and miracle mile mall both have reasonably priced food courts. We do plan to try circus circus just to see what it’s about.

Found a car rental-dollar at treasure island. $81 for 3 days! This will allow us to travel the strip freely. We plan to check out circus circus and Fremont Street. Dinner at Aria and brunch at Bacchanal at Caesars. Tour of horseshoe bend , Page Arizona and upper antelope Canyon. Driving to Hoover dam and Valley of Fire.

We were planning on using the hop on, hop off bus or Uber. I haven't even checked out what it cost to park a vehicle at the hotel. We are staying at Bellagio and there is a Hertz rental car next door at Cesar's Palace but their hours are 7-5. DH can uber to the airport 10 minutes away and the Hertz at the airport is 24-7. I planned on renting from Hertz with my USAA member discount just for one day. I plan to rent from the airport so I don't have to rush back by 5. We always rent from Hertz. I am weary about the low budget rental companies, but I also work in insurance.

How is the parking situation in Vegas on the strip? Does everywhere you go charge to park like most tourist cities?
I found this article that says 9 places you can park for free: http://www.latimes.com/travel/deals/la-tr-las-vegas-free-parking-20170413-story.html

Parking at the mirage is $20 a day I think. I've rented from budget with no issues at all. I've never had a car in Vegas before but will this time. I guess we will see.

I have M Life Pearl status by virtue of having the hyatt credit card so I park for free at all MGM properties which include Bellagio, Mirage, Circus Circus, Aria, Delano etc. I plan to park at an MGM casino and walk to where I need to be. Dollar is owned by hertz.

We're going to be there for 6 days and plan on doing Bacchanal, Wicked Spoon as well as the one at Rio. We're hoping that for lunch it is somewhat less costly...

Don’t know your dates but I saw a groupon for the rio buffet. There’s also one for Bacchanal but it expires dec 15th or so.

Thanks for that. Though we aren't going until May next year. Where did you see the coupon? Because I will definitely like to keep checking. Thank you

I've been following this thread because you guys have great tips and ideas. We're hopefully going back to Vegas in 2018 :)

While we are on the topic of vegas, does anyone have any suggestions for someone with a wheat allergy? We usually just look for gluten free options. I found a blog with some good information. Just thought maybe someone might have some experience with this.

I got an email tonight from MGM resorts. 50% off cirque shows! Includes Beatles love! Amazing deal!
