Tipsy is as Tipsy Does - A February '17 Dining Adventure - Complete 8/15

Hmm, I can see everything so maybe something weird was going on when you were looking. Either way, its great to see you. hope all is well

All pics are back! Food porn for everyone! Now I went back and reread the last updates I missed!

All is good here hope all is good with you too!

Finally back and all caught up! Life just keeps getting in the way of things. Loving reading about your culinary adventures and can't believe anyone would ever frown upon you getting an adult drink with the kiddos. You need to visit here where people would be thinking you must be on antibiotics if you didn't order alcohol with dinner!!! Really!!! Anyibiotics are the only viable reason for not drinking in Ireland anytime, day or night, with or without kids/pets/elderly relatives/random neighbors at weddings/christenings/funerals & wakes/parties of any type/ BBQs/ family gatherings of any occasion/ because it's sunny/rainy/snowy ( you get the idea)!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Woohoo!!!!!!!!! When are you all going????? We are headed down 3-11 November since Jason is doing the half marathon that weekend. We lucked out it was the same week I had veterans day off and Casey had 2 teacher workdays. We're staying at CBR (in a pirate room no less), which I'm not thrilled about either, but we got a military rate then the $75/night gift card offer so there was no way we could pass it up.
We'll be there at the same time! Nov 3-10! I ran out of DVC points since we booked a 2BR at AKL in April and couldn't pass up the good rate despite the construction! I'm running the 10K. Maybe the girls will see each other at the pool?!

SAUSAGE!!!!
I'm going to like where this is going!

Fried in Curried Corn Batter and served with Green Papaya Slaw and Black-eyed Pea Salad
Mmm you know how I feel about this; glad you guys finally tried it! I thought the slaw was decent but the sausage is clearly the winner

And in case you couldn't really see the sausage, here is a close-up.
:worship::worship: thank you so much for this! Exactly what I was hoping for when I read the word SAUSAGE :D

Fingers crossed Pandora hasn't spoiled this place too much crowd wise, because I plan to visit on more than a few occasions on our next trip.
Huh, hadn't even thought about this. Also haven't read anything to this effect but then for some weird reason I don't read much about Nomad Lounge anyway even though it's awesome. Mostly on your dining reports lol.

Hightower Rocks which is Casa Dragones Blanco Tequila, Watermelon, Sweet-and-Sour, and Lime Juice.
Sounds like something I'd enjoy, I'll have to try it if we get to Nomad's next month which I'd like to.

I should have been clearer that this may have been one of the few moments of brilliance she has had. Her "teddy" is aptly named "beary" and her most favorite stuffed animal, an owl, is brilliantly named owly :-)
 Ricky still has 2 of his stuffed animals from when he was younger. They sit in his closet; he won't let me touch them. One is a horse from Build A Bear that he did name Bullseye as he was into Toy Story then. More creative than "horsey" but still not original given the time period. However the other is a ratty green bird Steve won him at a carnival. His name? "Green bird".

Glad everything is back and you enjoyed all the porn :P

Keep me updated on your plans!!!!
Will do. We'll probably start refining things once we get closer to FP day

Hi there. Hope all is well on the other side of the Atlantic :-) Speaking of the Atlantic, we clearly need to get over there as we are much more Irish than Americans when it comes to our love of consumption. Heck, I'm actually on meds right now but that didn't stop me from having a few beverages last night :P

That would be awesome. Casey would love to make a new friend.

You knew I couldn't disappoint :-)

I think because it was so out of the way at the end of a road to nowhere, people didn't even know it was there. Which I of course loved! Now with people walking by it, I figured it would get more traffic.

Maybe they will start giving me discounts for all the advertising I am doing for them :P

Sounds like all our kids take their naming cues from the book of obvious names :-)

The Last Supper

For our last dinner of the trip we headed to one of our perennial favorites: Yachtsman Steakhouse. And let me tell ya we were really excited to have some steak.

But first things first, it had been a couple of hours so some drinky drinkys were in order. Jason got a double rye whiskey of some kind

And I got their Mule

It wasn't too long before these beauties were before us.

If you haven't had these before these are Yachtsmans amazing onion rolls and they are hands down the best bread on property. They come with butter and roasted garlic, both of which melt perfectly on the soft rolls. My little butter fiend was in bread and butter heaven and devoured 3 of these little gems.

We also decided to start with their cheese plate, which had these delicious options this evening.

I don't remember which was which from the picture and it really doesn't matter because they were all delicious. This was definitely the best cheese plate we'd ever had on property and strangely even beat the random Trader Joe's cheese smorgasbords that are often my dinner.

To wash down our cheese and our soon to come entrees we also got a bottle of De Toren Z which is a South African Bourdeoux style blend full of tannins and lots of spice. We had this on our last trip too and it again did not disappoint.

For our entree's we went with our favorites, because when you find steak perfection why try anything else. Jason got 16 ounce Ribeye with a side of sweet potatoes.

And here is a look inside to see the medium rare perfection.

$54 for steak is an ungodly amount of money, but I think Jason and I would both pay even more than that for the amazingness that is a dry aged, perfectly cooked, marbley steak. Sadly he didn't like his sweet potatoes as much as they harkened him back to not so good childhood Thanksgiving memories of yams from a can topped with marshmallows.

Casey and I shared the 10z filet, which we ordered with a side of their duck fat potatoes.

I know this doesn't look like much, and my rare meat hating friends are probably cringing right about now, but I can't overstate how good this filet is. You see a knife in the background, but you really didn't need it as this was so tender a fork could cut it. I was in meat heaven. Speaking of heaven, the duck fat potatoes, which I'd had one time before and loved were even better. These little beauties were cooked in duck fat then were loaded with cheese, onions, garlic, and BACON. Jason had some major potato envy.

We also got a side of their truffled mac and cheese.

This was really good and creamy, but did not have nearly enough truffle flavor for my truffle loving self.

We were too full for dessert, but our waiter was kind enough to bring Casey a birthday cake pop.

Which sugared her up and apparently drove her into selfie mode as I found these gems on my phone.

Overall this was yet another successful trip to the land of steak. Service was great, steak was perfect, drinks were good, and with our Tables in Wonderland card we even "saved" $48.30.

After dinner we headed over to MGM for some extra magic hours.

We were able to walk on Toy Story, Star Tours, and thankfully the Great Movie Ride because we didn't know it at the time but this would be our last time through Casey's beloved shooting lady ride. I still haven't had the guts to break it to her that it is gone. She is going to be devastated as she had big plans to be the shooting lady herself one day.

We eventually made it back to AKL where we sadly started to pack up a bit before bed. But thankfully we had a little more park time the next.

Up next, its a jolly ole lunch

Oh, wow. You are making me seriously regret not having Yachtsman in the lineup for my next trips. I've said this before but oh how I love those onion rolls. And the steak is pretty good too. :D So sad your trip is winding down.

I looove Yachtsman steakhouse  We always have it for our last night meal ( though if we have free dining plan we have been known to eat there twice on some trips). Seriously the best bread rolls I've ever eaten! Only hardship is trying not to stuff myself on them so I have room for steak:rotfl:They once lost our order and comped us our bottle of wine for the delay which was like winning the lottery as it happened to be a night when we'd pushed the boat out wine wise lol
Glad you had a great meal for your last night :goodvibes

I love reading the reviews on this board, but don't usually comment. However, I just love your reviews so much that I just had to tell you. You all always look like you have so much fun together and Casey is adorable. I also love all the drink reviews! I agree that vacation is much better for everyone if mom gets to have some adult beverages! Your review of Yachtsman made me very glad I made a reservation there for our January trip. We have been once before and loved it but it's been a few years so definitely time to go back! Now if I could just decide between Citricos and California Grill!

:p I'm reading this to get excited for trying YS when we go in Sep, and it's working already.

I know this doesn't look like much, and my rare meat hating friends are probably cringing right about now, but I can't overstate how good this filet is.

It looks sooo good :lovestruc

That also sounds wonderful! I just called Josh in to show him your meal :rotfl: I think he's confused as to why, but I told him I wanted to show him all the delicious food we'd be trying.

We also got a side of their truffled mac and cheese.

I want that too! Although Josh can't help me eat it so I have to save some room.

Aw that's so sad.

I had been thinking on our next trip to sub the duck fat potatoes with my filet when we do YSH. Your description is making it more likely. Sorry about Jason's sweet potato miss. I asked last year about it as a sub for the mashed that come with the filet and our waitress warned me it was very sweet so I went with my standby sub potato gratin.

We just discovered YS on our last trip and it immediately became one of my favorite restaurants on property! I love that they know how to cook a steak to the right doneness and the seasoning is perfect. My DH wasn't able to eat that meal because he had an emergency appendectomy mid trip :crutches:(yes, it was a crazy trip) so I'm excited for him to try it in December.

f you haven't had these before these are Yachtsmans amazing onion rolls and they are hands down the best bread on property. They come with butter and roasted garlic, both of which melt perfectly on the soft rolls
We've only been there once but when the roasted garlic came out we were in heaven. It was so hard not to fill up on it!

Sometimes people are surprised that we'll let Chris order filet at restaurants because of the price, but he loves it and as long as it's good we don't mind. Seriously if the food is GOOD we don't mind paying $$$ for it at all, we just love food THAT MUCH.

Casey and I shared the 10z filet, which we ordered with a side of their duck fat potatoes.
It looks delicious other than being too red for me, however if I (or anyone) tried sharing a 10oz. anything with Chris he'd bite fingers lol

While it may often seem like we are getting hammered we are seasoned drinkers who would never get hammered around our kid (or at all for that matter since its been at least 10 years since I could handle that). A few tipsy drinks in moderation to help everyone relax is a good thing and you should own it!

Chiming in here. I am not a big drinker by any stretch but love trying fruity cocktails on vacay, just one or two like you. Usually not an issue at all because like you said, drinks are expensive which leads to more tips...but one time I was at Kona Cafe at the Poly with my DD (who was 9 at the time) I was having a hard time choosing between two of their cocktails and so I asked our server "which one is better?" and she got a kind of judgey face on and said "well I don't drink so I've never tried either" and I was kind of annoyed that she said that. I mean because I am so not a big drinker and she was acting like I'm some boozer. I have no problem with the fact that anyone does or does not drink - to each is own...but a server in a restaurant that serves cocktails, when asked...maybe should not say it with that tone. She could have just said "well the X is the most popular..." or some other way to answer without throwing in a big of judgement...

Sorry to digress...that was the only time I've ever encountered that...every other time I've had cocktails with kids, they seem very happy about it.

OMG you are making me want to go there just for that bread. I'm such a carboholic and that sounds so yummy. I wonder if you can go and just order the bread lol. I don't eat a lot of steak because while I love the taste it doesn't seem to agree with me...but that bread sounds worth the trip!

We were able to walk on Toy Story,

Really?? Does that ever happen??? I am so hoping there is a time when I can get on that ride without a FP so there is hope of going more than once on our trip!

Your Yachtsman pictures are making me so hungry! I love their bread, I think I could go there just for the bread alone. I made a reservation for this weekend I can't wait to go back.

What an amazing last meal! Even more amazing is that Casey will share a rare steak with you lol.

I know this doesn't look like much, and my rare meat hating friends are probably cringing right about now, but I can't overstate how good this filet is.

It's funny that you say that, because I was looking at it going "NOPE!" I've just in the recent years started ordering medium well. My mom won't do anything other than well done.

apparently drove her into selfie mode as I found these gems on my phone.

Love it!

I'm sad that I never got to ride it one last time. I'm sure Casey would have been an excellent shooting lady!
