Since the Cusacks (both John and sister Joan) seem to be very much appreciated here on this board, yet underappreciated in the Hollywood world, I thought I'd start our very own "appreciation" group.

So whether you loved John as a geek in 16 Candles or as an obsessive puppeteer in Being John Malkovich or if you loved Joan in her body brace in 16 Candles or miss her weekly series on ABC here is a place where you can freely discuss the Cusack siblings!

he had me ever since he held up the boom box in the rain outside her window...

I'd really like to see Joan get more work. She's just brilliant! One of the funniest women I've ever had the pleasure of watching on film. She had a TV show that only lasted one season, it was just hilarious PLUS it also starred the underrated Kyle Chandler. After it was cancelled I was convinced the American public hadn't a clue on quality TV.

John. Well, he is just terrific. I've loved him in everything I've seen him in. One example of his fine acting is in the movie The Grifters. He conveys emotion without even saying a word, its his death scene, he is arguing with his mother, she hits him, he sees he is going to die no matter what, gives up the argument, looks at her in horror that she has just accidentally killed him and just slides down the wall. Doesn't get much better than that.

I second Terri's boombox scene....that song still gets me everytime.

Sign me up! :)

Snoopy -- I forgot all about The Grifters! I'll have to dig that movie back out sometime soon and watch that one again! :)

Wasn't Joan nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Working Girl? She was wonderful in that!

(Thanks to whoever deleted my double posting. Guess I was too caffiened and Cusacked when I started this thread! ;) )

Count me in as a fan of both.

I was VERY disappointed when Joan's ABC series got cancelled so quickly. I think it was a quality show and they didn't give it a chance to develop an audience.

John's movies are always good and he's not afraid to go out on a limb for a role. I really liked "High Fidelity," which basically didn't get any respect from fans, although it got a lot of praise from critics.

"Sixteen Candles" is one of my favorite all-time movies. I can say that and I am not ashamed.:o

I adored "High Fidelity", too. I think, maybe I like him so much because John and I are of a similar age. I was a teenager madly in love when "the boombox scene" happened (sigh), in my 20s for Gross Point Blank, and was fighting thirty-something angst when I saw HF. The only thing that sort of disappoints me is his dating Meg Ryan...

I loved the ending to Gross Point Blank, when he's hitting him with the frying pan. Cracks me up every time!
Isn't there 2 more, another 2 sisters?

I Love the Cusacks!!! John is so cute and Joan is very funny! Sonya I know of at least one more sister.
