December 1-4, 2000 – Dixie Landings

Cast of characters:

Gina (Me), 34, second trip to the World this year, going for Single Mom of the Year title. :)
Tyler Dean (DS), 4 ½, train fanatic, nominated me for above-mentioned title. :)
My dad, 58, love for WDW from way back when, also a train fanatic.
Debbie (Dad’s sister), 46, more like my sister than my aunt, both of us prone to giggling fits. ;)

Our first trip (my little boy and I) was this past February, and I lasted until May before the AP started burning a hole in my pocket. (I had purchased the AP before the first trip because I knew I'd be back next February before it expired.) Somebody (on the DIS boards, I'm sure!!) put the idea in my head of going to see the Christmas decorations, and that was that. I made up my mind, and got a really good deal on the airline tickets.

I decided to ask my father to come. He is quickly losing his vision to diabetic retinopathy, and I wanted him to see the World again while he could still sorta see it. He's a big kid at heart (gee, wonder where I got it from :) ) and he loves Disney. He said he'd love to, and I started planning the trip. Then somewhere down the line, Debbie was joking that she felt left out, so I said she should come too! When Tyler Dean begged her to come, that did it. :)

TD got a stomach bug a couple weeks before our trip, and it was a very persistent bug. He would seem better, then get sick again, and on and on. Finally, after a week of being fine, I figured we were in the clear. On Thursday, the day before our trip, his preschool called me to tell me that he had thrown up again. I was panicked -- this wasn't happening!! How do the germs know when it's THE worst time??? I had visions of him throwing up from one end of the World to the other. I babied his stomach the rest of that day, and prayed. :) He had also started a bit of a cough, but no fever or anything, so on we went.

And by now, you're thinking, "Sheesh, if the intro is this long, how long are the reports going to be?!?" ;) I'm sorry to make this so long... I promise to try and keep the reports concise. :)

Up next, day one!
