Road trip from Toronto that doesn't include Montreal, Quebec or Ottawa

Stratford would be a must do then drive to Goderich and spend the day and night. Travel from Goderich to Grand Bend, if wishing to stay the night than Oakwood resort is very close to the beach. Drive onward to the Pinery Park for either a day visit or two. Go canoeing and go to the beach. Drive from there along Lakeshore to Sarnia Ontario. Check out Point Edward beach just north of Sarnia. Sarnia is right across from Port Huron Michigan. Port Huron Michigan has an amazing web cam on youtube. Stay the night in Sarnia at the Insignia Hotel, it is one of the Best Marriott hotels in Canada, many Americans from Michigan stay there. Drive along the St Clair River to Port Lambton, there you will see many freighters and boats.
From Port Lambton you drive to Wallaceburg and can eat at a great restaurant on the water called The Black Goose Grill. If you want to stay longer they is a full size apartment for rent by the day at the Kraft Marina, in Port Lambton which overlooks the river towards the USA. Beautiful area. After Wallaceburg drive to Chatham where there are some amazing places to visit including the history of the Underground Railroad. Fomer MLB player Fergie Jenkins is from Chatham and there is some great memorabilia including a ball park about him From Chatham you can go sw towards Essex County which has amazing museums and conservations area on the lake. Park HOuse in Essex is a must do. After leaving there you could go to Kingsville which is very similar to Stratford with many wealthy retirees from Toronto. Keeping driving along number hwy 3 until you get to St Thomas where you go south to Port Stanley. A real cool beach town very similar to something on Lake Michigan. Port Stanley via number 3 is about 2.5 hours from Fort Erie Ontario to the US Border. SW Ontario is very pretty, rural and spread out. Hope this helps.
