I don't know what these flowers are. We saw them in a park while walking to some palaces.

Some old palace with a really cool island

There were a lot of people in traditional costumes at the old palace. I wish I'd known you could rent them. The costumes, not the people.

That's the entry to the Olympic Park from the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The day we visited, there were high school kids everywhere. We guessed that it was some sort of end-of-semester celebration.

This is a panorama I took from the Seoul Tower. You really get a sense for how enormous the city is from there. The metro area has about 26 million people! My wife and I walked up the hill to the tower. It was quite a walk. That ended up being our second consecutive day of walking more than 30,000 steps in a day. That's kind of a lot for me.

WOW...beautiful photos! One of our daughters high school friends, along with her military husband and 2 children, just recently returned from a year of duty in Seoul. Beautiful country and I looked forward to her pictures...as I'm looking forward to yours! :goodvibes :tink:

The purpose of our Seoul trip was to help my son settle in for something like a study abroad. He really wanted to go to Korea, but we couldn't find a good study abroad program, so we made something up. His main goals were to learn some Korean and to experience their League of Legends. It's a computer game that he really likes and he says that the Koreans are the best. Instead of a traditional study abroad, we set him up for 4 weeks of private Korean lessons and got him an apartment near his school and the main League of Legends arena. Then we flew over to help him get settled in.

That's a custom bag I printed for his birthday. The side facing him has a 7x3 grid of pictures, one from each of his first 21 years. I just started making these custom bags. They aren't very good yet, but I'm making progress.

That's in his Seoul apartment. Kid's can be expensive. He's got a room at home, an apartment at school, and now an apartment in Seoul. And he's thinking about spending a weekend down in Busan, so I could end up paying for four places for him to live at the same time. Sigh.

He love's Asian food, especially meat. This sort of restaurant is common in Korea. They bring you raw meat and you cook it at your table.

That's wonderful Mark! It's amazing what our offspring are into nowadays. I have a friend from Boy Scouting who graduated from college and then spent 3 years teaching English in Korea and traveled all over Asia in his spare time. He was there during the Pandemic and felt he was safer in Korea than he would have been in America. Now he is at Oxford getting his masters and certification in teaching English.

I love that he's so passionate about Korea, and it looks like you guys have given him enthusiastic support. I love that too!

These pics were taken at the lawn in front of city hall and the main library. It appeared to be a festival for families and children to encourage reading.

This was at a fair celebrating Central Asian countries put on by some of their residents living in Korea. This is me trying on an outfit from Kazakhstan.

My wife and I usually do a lot of walking when we travel. That was definitely the case in Seoul. We could have saved a lot of steps using their excellent bus and subway system, but we preferred to walk through town when we could to see more of what local life is like. This was our day with the most steps. Our average for the 5 full days we were there was above 28,000 steps per day.

Beautiful pictures! A blessed young man to have such support for his endeavors. My own did study abroad ( under grad) for a semester. A life altering experience that was greatly enjoyed. Beautiful Country, Gracious People, Eye Opening culture, felt Safe. Ohhh the Stories about food experiences, lol. I have no doubt his Expectations will be met. Best Wishes.
