Why do I get this message on a lot of sites, I can't see any of Dan Murphys they are all forbidden, and many others, Also what format can I put a midi file into so that I can upload it to the dis website. Thanks again

1) It sounds to me like you have the parental controls on, security settings set lower than normal or something is denying you like a firewall or proxy server.

Do any of these things sound familiar to you?

Are you at work or at home?

What browser and version # are you using?

2) You can't upload a .mid file to the DIS server.

Mr. J. I have medium security settings, no firewall, general access, IE 6.0. All of Dan Murphys sites are forbidden and Misc. others. I use my PC at home. Thanks for your input. Sherrie

I have IE 6 on another computer. I'll try it out a little later and see if it's that or not for you. It may also have some other setting that I don't have on this one.

While there are some new settings on the security page, I don't think that the defaults would stop you from seeing the pages that you mentioned.

Can you give me a specific link that doesn't work?

What is the EXACT message that you get and in what form does it come up (pop up box, web page information...describe the event please)?

Have you changed anything from the defaults at all?

Have you tried to re-install IE 6?

If you don't mind me asking, why are you using IE 6? It's part of the XP core and still in beta. It's really not meant for use by the general public.

It's IE5 sorry, mistake. it's AOL 6.0 got confused. here is the message i keep getting. You are not authorized to view this page

Sherrie,

I also get this error when going to this page. Where did you see this?
Was there a link directly to this page? What page had this link?

Not all links will show up it you modify the address. Did you remove some of the address to come up with this one? My site is at http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/stormalongbay/
If I remove the /stormalongbay/ from that address and try to go to http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites, I will get that same error. If a website does not have an index.htm or index.html, it can give you this error. It can also give you a file listing, like an ftp session.

Correct SAB! If your URL is pointing you to a directory without an index file, it is 403. The DIS server will not allow you to browse directories. You need to get the correct URL to see the page. There is nothing really wrong at all.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/aaaa1/, i go to the Dis homepage, click on visitor web sites, then a-z webs listings, the above properties listed is the very first link under the letter A, it is blue and has a line under it titled aaaa1, I got the 403 erroe on this one.

So will everyone else. Many of those sites are just storage space. You will not be able to see all of them unless the owner gives you direct links to the content. Just because they are blue links doesn't mean that they go anywhere.
