Mandalay Bay or Cosmopolitan

I know these two are quite different, but I am trying to decide between Mandalay Bay and the Cosmopolitan. Both are simiar in price. It is a trip for DH and my 20th anniversary. We aren't party animals and mostly want to take in the sights. Any input would be appreciated!

Just returned from Vegas, and we popped into the Cosmopolitan for drinks, Pretty awesome place if you ask me. Plus the location is a bit more convenient to the rest of The Strip, with the rest of City Center and Bellagio being right there. Between these two, I'd chose Cosmopolitan hands down...

Cosmo. I stayed here in October and loved it. Stayed at Mandalay Bay about 5 years ago and wasn't impressed with the service or the location.

A few reasons for Cosmo:

1 - Far more centrlized that Mandalay, very easy to access areas to the North (Ceasar's, Mirage, Paris, Bellagio, Hard Rock) and south (a big mall right next door, I forget the name), New York, Excalibur and MGM. A hot tickets booth is practicully right across the street
2 - Opt for a high level room with a balcony, no other hotel in Vegas has balconies. The one I had was up about 30 stories and looked out to the north and the Bellagio fountain. The views are magnificent, I would go back just for this feature alone.
3 - The food, although not cheap, was outstanding, not to say convienent! Lots of different cuisine's to choose from and, of course, the options at the nearby casino's are there for you too.

The only option that I liked better at Mandalay was the pool. Cosmo's pools are rather small and shallow, Mandalay has more options here. Depending on the time of year you are there, this may or may not make a difference.

my vote is for cosmo. pretty much for all the same reasons as the above posters has mentioned. unless there is some special nostalgic reason for mandalay, then right now the cosmo is the best choice

Another vote for the Cosmo. My DH and I stayed there in November for 4 nights for a convention and the hotel was amazing. Also the location is excellent, we had a view of the fountains everynight.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I have never been to Vegas, so any tips are great! Looks like Cosmo wins hands down. I don't think we will rent a car, so we want to be in a good location.

The rooms look really nice and we are celebrating our 20th anniversary!!

MB is a nice hotel and we like some of the restaurants near there (Ri Ra Irish Pub, Burger Bar), but it's just too far away from the rest of the strip for me. I have only been through the Cosmo, but I have heard great things about it!

I'd choose the Cosmopolitan. Great location and restaurants.

Another vote for the Cosmo. At night they close the pool for swimming, but open it up to the public. They allow anyone to visit and buy drinks. They also invite you to sit down on the lounge chairs and watch a movie. You don't need to be staying at the hotel. They show the movie on their Video Digital Board. We were there last year in October and they were showing the Hangover.
