If this wasn't a completely inappropriate place to swear I would right now. I have to buy $1000 in spending money, pay for the rental car and pay for the balance of our Cabana Bay reservation still. I can't prepay with Universal so I am kind of at the mercy of the exchange rate there. I stupidly waited to get the rest of our spending money until I had the last little bit of it.. I should have been exchanging as I saved. And the rental car is the rental car.. it will come off when we return it.

I'm in the same boat! We have to pay for the balance of our Hotel at Universal (RPR) and I should have paid for some of our cruise for next Sept (2018). I have carryover of spending money from our last trip, so that's not needed. From what I have read, you can phone the hotel directly and pay for your balance before your stay. I am going to call and see if I can pay that off now. I don't want the dollar to go down any more than it is, I should have acted sooner!

Well I guess the silver lining as it isn't as bad as it was in the Spring. That was atrocious. Thank you for the tip of calling and paying off the Universal hotel ahead of time. I am going to call and try just to have that portion out of the way.

Yup. Me too, I have my DL (offsite) hotel I can't prepay, and rental car for August trip. I'm cursing myself for not paying off the last $400 for Pop in Nov when loonie hit that high. I thought about it but thought it wouldn't drop again sooooo fast! However I have a USD CIBC acct and have been buying $ every month. So it averages out.

Enjoy Cabana Bay! I heard it's great. Love the Universal resorts. If you get a chance go over and explore Portofino. It's amazing. In the evening they have opera singers who preform off the 2nd floor balcony for an hour. Our last night I told my girls we had to go back to the resort to see it. We grabbed a dinner from the cs restaurant and took it outside to a table on the piazza to enjoy the performance. It was amazing.

I had my Universal pre paid. I went thru my Disney TA, so I didn't know they didn't have the option like WDW.

If there is a war with North Korea, gold and oil will rise dramatically. Canadian's economy is based on those resources so it will go up, especially when people start to dump USD$... but then, if there is a nuclear war, we don't need any USD$ either because there may be no Disney World left, or at least Disney Land because it's in the west coast.

Just bought $330 Cdn worth of US dollars. We now have $500 US in our account and I think that is all I'm going to feel comfortable with carrying. The rest will be WDW gift cards (if I can find enough of them) or on my mastercard.
