Jim Shore Disney Figurines

My mom is really into the Jim Shore Disney figurines since she found a figurine of Belle at a thrift shop and she hasn't stopped collecting them since. Mom has an Aurora Jim Shore Disney figurine and two Tiana figurines and a very pretty Cinderella figurine as well. I was impressed at how well Jim Shore designs these Disney figurines and he sure knows how to make them authentic as can be. How did Jim Shore Disney figurines come to be and which was the very first Disney Jim Shore figurine released?
