Day 1
Sunday 4 October 2015
It had arrived - the day we go to Disneyland Paris!
I had been well organised for weeks before the trip so only had a couple of last minute packing decisions to make. I very nearly added another suitcase to our flight booking but in the end managed to distribute our weights ok with hand luggage.
Some new socks purchased from Primark and this was my chosen first pair:
We had also treated Abbey to a new pair of Vans - of course she choose Disney ones
I'd planned to leave around 13:00 but we were all sitting about ready to go earlier so off we went on the 20 minute journey to the airport. Parked at a long stay car park and hopped onto the shuttle bus waiting for us The airport looked busy but we dropped our bag and were through security quite quickly. By 13:45 we were sitting in one of the bars ordering lunch. After lunch we spend some time browsing the shops and reading magazines. Flight was called but was a tad late taking off.
I think the wind must have been behind us though as we made good time and arrived in CDG a good half hour before the time we expected.
As usual, Ezyshuttle were waiting outside baggage collection even though we were early. I will say again how much I recommend Ezyshuttle - their service is excellent and completely stress free.
Soon we were passing Space Mountain and arriving at Hotel New York!
The hotel reception was quiet and we were seen to straight away by a lovely young man. It was about 19:45 by now. We got chatting and he asked it was our first time at HNY, I laughed and said no, this was number 9! I'd said that I had emailed earlier to ask for a room in Midtown if possible. He said he'd check and went off to speak to a lady who came out to look with him. She asked why we liked Midtown and I said I liked a central room if possible and didn't mind a car park side. No problem she said and we were allocated room 4216.
I was given all our vouchers for the half board, pause gourmand and park tickets. He took time to paperclip all the vouchers together so we had them in bundles instead of large sheets, which was thoughtful of him. He really was nice and I wish I'd taken note of his name.
One thing - we were not given breakfast slot times like we have had previously, but the breakfast times have changed to 7am - 10.30am instead of 11. This was going to mean changes to our last day, but not too much of a problem.
Bags dropped with the concierge we were soon on our way to the parks. There is a refurb going on outside HNY, replacing the paving slabs so we had to go to the left when we came outside and walk round what used to be the ice rink. It was a dry night, just perfect conditions. We were in the park for just after 20:00.
Into Town Square and we saw some Villans out doing meets. The Tremaines were outside the Story Book Store and some others in front of the band stand. We didn't wait and headed to Frontierland to try for Big Thunder Mountain.
Decorations everywhere again
BTM showed a 15 min wait but was actually a walk on when using the magic left hand lane - top tip!
Wandered over to Phantom Manor, also a walk on. Great again and the skeleton heads working at the end!
Molly Brown, currently closed for refurb:
BTM was showing 10 mins now, so we headed in again. We were all given the cards to wear, not sure why everyone had them
Once again it was a walk on
It was a fantastic ride, Dreams just starting as we went over the hill. Love BTM in the dark!
Took our time as we left Frontierland taking pictures of the pumpkin heads:
Next up a wander through the shops in Main St. Abbey got some Minnie ears, Lewis some pins and I got some nice new mugs.
We listened to Dreams for a short bit from Main St and watched the Frozen section which I think is really well done. Main St looks so nice all lit up.
Waved bye to Main St for tonight and headed back to the hotel.
