A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

Wait, that’s not right.

Way out west there was this fella I wanna tell ya about. Goes by the name of Jeff Lebowski.

Nope, that’s not it either.

I'm 36 years old, I love my family, I love baseball, and I'm about to become a farmer. But until I heard the voice, I'd never done a crazy thing in my whole life.

Okay, this isn’t going as I planned. Let’s try again!

Hey there! This may not be an epic opening line from an epic movie (can you name the three movies?), but it will be a great opening to an epic trip report. Come along for a 15 night, three resort (two of which include 3 bedroom grand villas), 10 person adventure that begins at the stroke of midnight (sort of) on Saturday June 3rd, 2017. This is not my first trip report rodeo. Three years ago we took a very similar trip, and I wrote (and finished!) a trip report for that vacation:

A 2-Week Grand Villa Extravaganza!

As the time for this upcoming journey drew near, I once again made the brave decision to write a trip report. It didn’t hurt that my wonderful parents made a book out of the first trip report and gave it to me and the kids for Christmas. We are now only days away from the beginning of this next Disney vacation. If you would like to read about our plans, including the three resorts, the 12 ADRs and our daily itineraries, check out my pre-trip report with my working title:

Exciting Half-Month DVC Trip - Boring Title!

I decided to get this official report going so that I could link in my parting thoughts of the above pre-trip report. For those of you not interested in reading the pre-trip report, let me get you caught up to speed. Here are the basics:

When: Saturday, June 3rd through Sunday, June 18th 2017

Where: One night in a grand villa @ the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House;
Five nights in a deluxe studio and 2-BR villa @ the Beach Club;
Nine nights in a hospitality house area grand villa @ Old Key West

Who: My family of four, my parents, my two sisters and my two nephews

Now for introductions. Who am I? Well, I am a 38 year-old, busy mom of two lovely daughters. As of the 15-16 school year I have moved on from my job as a secondary math teacher and school administrator and am now an “Innovation Coach” for an educational cooperative (known as a BOCES) that serves 7 school districts across the entire northwestern region of Colorado. My title is a little obscure, so let me sum up what I do- I help teachers become better teachers. Anyways, I love my job, and although I love teaching too, this is an opportunity that doesn’t often happen in a rural area like where we live. Here’s a recent pic of me:

oXbtJQiKNPBkSNgdTEpbSOd8L-B60mRQtJgSRt6C_RtATzuzxj-t68pH-lnN_QQGZUGx7Ajg04PiICP2cPZwf6au9G_-O9Ml301PUMWAyZl9XlCSo1kGeE2IhChBZMt1VIK4qRfY

Oh, where do we live? In a beautiful mountain town in Colorado. To be more specific, in Steamboat Springs. So hopefully now the title makes sense...

We moved into “town” just about two years ago to have more time with family - now we no longer have a 30 minute commute (in good weather) and enjoy one hour more a day with family NOT in the car! We used to live just to the right of where the lightning was striking but waaaayyy back, and now we live just minutes from the base of the ski hill. Do I ski? Not well, but I’m working on it. Anyways, when I’m not hanging with the family, I love playing ice hockey, camping, reading. Oh and I love all things Disney, duh!

My immediate family:

The first photo is from our amazing California trip last summer. The other is from Halloween 2015 when we rocked the Star Wars look, with my husband, Caz (short for Casimir- a Polish, family name), and my youngest daughter, Clara, as Jedis (Clara is a Youngling), and my oldest daughter, Emelia, as Padme (circa Episode II).

My husband - Caz:

Caz is 37 and is an engineer and sales manager for a small manufacturing company here in town. He loves to snowboard, drink craft beer (as do I), camp, play disc golf, read and hang out with “his ladies.” We met back in college and started dating in 1999, and in the summer of 2016 we celebrated 10 super great years of marriage. He is amazing, but Disney is NOT one of his passions, so he is very kind in more than tolerating my Disney obsession.

The first photo is from this Christmas and the latter is from the first day of school, in August of 2016. Clara is a third grader and Eme (short for Emelia) is a fifth grader (school year 17-18). They both love playing soccer, reading, camping, playing imagination games together, skiing/riding, Girl Scouts, and hanging out as a family. Although they love many of the same things, they are very different girls. Eme is outgoing and fearless, yet shy around adults. Here she is from May of this year on the day of her Confirmation:

Clara is cautious, loves deep conversations, has a wicked temper and will someday probably take over the world.

sELousnCZvF9MS8-BRSJMH4Rrpy2DLy3Mv_qgYPV6BEXgG4HT-zeu0I-KFx5FAuWoK5pXZo8ga3kHbm2gmVMk9uk8l0Lvepv07SDIJvvpICEPemTouJuCiq60YXG0N5SCXoJ3xB0

Both girls are happy, kind and pretty amazing. I’m biased, but most people would agree with that statement!

My younger sister- Brie, aka Auntie Brie-Brie:

HqlP6rkIP-P6zvO8LODsU080-CMOTR_xigR53qMby8OSaz9m4u5QecbZmK7GS4GS0aBW0-5Orn1u0rPDv-jrfOkqFdZ-l4-MS2PTUJMFhwZxw8vCMcIyNIgubvHjCGcu6_nnURb2

Brie is a funny, sarcastic bank manager who adores her nieces and nephews. She loves to hang out at home binge watching good tv, reading, and playing with her large, black dog, Lily. She also loves to travel, including WDW, but I think she’d prefer it if we’d slow down every once and awhile so she could sleep in.

My older sister- Andrea, aka Auntie Drea-Drea or Drea:

fXY9KLuQ1qF6cqs3YmigEnnjsmcZk4CStWFmbr89V7ob5CEqXB42-bxLz6y31Vz5k4ZxQAeptTfjWJlG8o-jQ5Ws_CQm-mXURC0JqckMdi1tygtt8owg1H3iUnZGLaSb_mxEgz4l

Andrea is a super hard working single mom. She works for an insurance company as a lawyer. She loves the MSU Spartans, reading, escorting her busy young sons to many, many activities, and hanging out with her family and her college buddies. She is also sarcastic (genetic perhaps?) and super funny, and is incredibly intelligent.

Both my sisters have had health struggles recently… Drea has been diagnosed with arthritis and Brie had surgery on her foot in late March and emergency appendectomy just last week, among other things. Yikes. We’re going to take it slow (right @pirtategranny ?) and take our time. After all this isn’t our first tour at WDW.

Onward... my nephews - Josh and Ryan:

Josh is just four months older than Eme:

Ryan is just two months older than Clara:

The kids are all super close, even though they and the rest of my family live in Michigan. They actually get to see each other fairly frequently, and when we do visit we pretty much all hang out together all the time. These past few summers we've been sending the girls to Michigan for multiple weeks all by themselves. Anyways, the boys both love Boy Scouts, baseball, soccer, football and are super smart, kind little men. The kids are more like brother and sister and although they can play together for hours on end, they can also fight like brothers and sisters! But they also love each other very much:

My mother - Becky, aka Buszia (which is Grandma in Polish) first with my sister Brie and then with my sister Drea:

My mom is the hub of our Disney obsession. She is hopefully going to retire in the near future, but until then she is an accountant for the Ford Motor Company. She loves to travel (she and my younger sister, Brie, went to Iceland for a long weekend earlier this year!), read, spend time with her 4 grand kids, and most of all plan and take WDW world vacations. It is because of her we go on these truly epic vacations. After a 2011 trip where we rented DVC points for a week, she started buying up points like they were going out of style. We currently own at OKW, WVL and BCV.

My father - Terry, aka “Papa”:

z_b4XxUK1cfG59rFVQiAueNDtFPa4FhqgC4f_ZHVaMw3D1coEHSjnCCv528zuyKCbNNXMTzHeU7CV8-N10v8y-GA8l_MPBewOV7q0bVfD2DyWG0pWN3uxzY_65liSBhCqWggU_f9

Papa became “Papa” long before the grand kids. My sisters and I have called him that for as long as I can remember. My dad retired from the Department of Defense a few years ago, and since then he spends his time watching my nephews, rocking out to loud music, and golfing. Most of all golfing. I think part of why Papa loves WDW so much is that he can golf every other day!

We are very blessed that Papa and Buszia "sponsor" these trips to WDW. Very fortunate. What a gift!!

So buckle your seat belts people - we’ve got quite a trip in front of us. Lots of FP+, great meals, the best beer WDW has to offer, wonderful accommodations, a birthday, and some pretty cool bonus experiences like dessert parties, legal pool hopping, cabanas and nights out. I’m very excited to share this trip with you all… I would love to meet new folks on the Dis, and will hopefully be a pretty consistent poster. I might even post a few live updates! You just never know… So introduce yourself, tell me about your trips and let’s get to know each other! And with that, I’m spent.

See you real soon!

Can't wait to hear about the trip. Now I have to go read the pretrip report and prior reports! :)

Joining in! I read most of your last report (even if I didn't always comment), and I've read pieces of your PTR :) Looking forward to hearing all about this epic trip!

Hurray we are leaving THIS WEEK

We leave in just under 51 hours! We're at double digit hours!!!

Looking forward to reading about your adventure!!! Sidenote... my Dad is from Poland:).

Thanks for reading and good to meet you!! My family is from just southeast of Krakow, and I'm not sure where Caz's family is from. Both Caz and I are 50% Polish, but we're a couple generations removed.

Yay! I'm happy you're along for the ride again! I hope I can bring the excitement of such a journey - it is sometimes a challenge to put it all in words. :)

Awesome! Joining in.

SWEET! Whoops, didn't mean to shout... What I do mean is welcome!!

Awwww, yeah! I'm going to try uploading a pic from my phone in the next post to test out live updating capabilities...

Tonight was pedicure night for the girls...

And this is my test to adding photos from my phone. Gotta be prepared for on the go live updates!

Well that didn't work. Hmmmm....

Okay, second effort was successful, but the picture is HUGE! Hmmm....

Our family is from Kielce, northeast of Krakow. I'm not sure how to make the pictures smaller, but you a sooooo close. Have a great trip!

It is indeed a small world!

I'm ok with the YUGE pictures for any live updates... They only look really big on computers. And the plus is that the quality isn't diminished like it is when I resize them. I wonder how many folks read the Dis on their phones or tablets vs. computers... Hmmm...

Following along!

Awesome - thanks for joining in!

And holy cow, girl! You are the trip report queen! I'll have to check some of those out...

:rotfl2: I think it's because I break my trips up into 3 separate reports every time.

Ummmm…. Sorry? I’m sure my legions of trip report readers have been devastated by my lack of posts. Simply inconsolable. HAHA. Anyways, it has been almost three months since I posted our introduction post. Yikes - three months! I can’t believe the beginning of our trip was almost three months ago… Time does indeed fly. It has been a busy summer - we moved in early July, I had lots of work commitments and well, to be honest, I have three (yes, three) upcoming Disney trips so I haven’t been so motivated to write this report. But write it I will (the kids love reading them).

Although I’d like to jump right in, here’s a brief preview of our awesome trip. It was beyond amazing… The weather was typical of June in Florida, perhaps a bit more rainy than usual, but overall not too hot. We had many, many great meals, took an insane number of pictures (including hundreds of PhotoPass pics), had very few disagreements and enjoyed three very distinct resorts. There were a handful of bumps in the road, some caused by Disney (but mostly made right by Disney) and some out of anyone’s control. But overall, it was a trip of a lifetime. Except we do this every three years, so perhaps a trip of three year period!

Anyways, we have so many photos it has been overwhelming to get them organized. I think I’ve developed a manageable system, though that includes the decision to not resize photos so if you’re reading on a computer - sorry for the full-size pics… That is just an extra step that I’m just not willing to take with the length of the trip (and hence, the report). On the upside, the photos will be pretty high quality! Anywho, here are just a few of my favorite pics from the whole trip to get you excited for the journey ahead. First off and in honor of the trip report title is…

Just a teaser! So onto the report itself.

Day 0.5: Friday, June 2nd, 2017 – Resort: AKL – Parks: None

(The final link in our very, very long chain)

To be quite honest we really begin, at least my family unit and Papa, on Friday, June 2nd. This is really one day before everyone lands in Florida, so we’ll call this day 0.5. Since Papa is retired he drives down to WDW, and along with him a car full of supplies, including groceries and golf clubs. So Papa actually arrived around midday Friday. As for the Colorado crew, I only worked a half-day, so as soon as it hit noon I said so long to my co-workers and headed to get a pedicure! It was super relaxing, but for some reason, I was really anxious. Poor me, feeling worried about vacation:

z2psHhK0DQqvFLRmSi6aXiOJH5x4gafpbytTp9mF6Hn5dR1xweHvHFMm2agbD2-tnp2RzsI-PgWlOyVvXEVhsmJXShYcPmEvRvnG_H5XaTSw5hH0HuTA2bjjJm3S_sFjrjmp7GKy

There was so much left to do- put the finishing touches on packing, finish cleaning our condo (there could be showings while we were away - we moved because they were selling it), pick up the kids from their last day of school, pack the car and although the pedicure was relaxing, it took an hour and a half! Yikes. No worries, though, I got through all this necessary work and was on time picking the girls up:

Wow! What full hands! We got home and from what I can recall, Caz joined us not long after 4 pm. In the meantime, Papa checked into AKL (a Deluxe studio for one night), and dropped off supplies at BCV as we’d be checking in there on Sunday.

Dropping off groceries and other random stuff we’ll need later in the week.

We got packed up without any issues and then headed out. For the life of me, I can’t recall what we did for dinner. It is a three-hour drive to the Denver airport and I believe we got to the parking lot around 9 pm, got checked in and then off to our gate:

My little readers.

Caz and I were hoping to have a pre-flight drink, but apparently, everything closes down in Denver Terminal A at 10 pm and we got there pretty much right at 10. Oh well. Did I mention we were taking a red-eye? Oh, yes… How will that play out? In any case, we had quite a bit of time before the flight took off, and Eme took the opportunity to try and snooze:
XkOyx3XE8OtAszL8big3TjL14DnL932K__HMxBzUK8nJRTW72_eOazku-9_TxH5NkyPDSqdQrDe0xS4IVHsGlxN25hXnmN4P5MWoLgQk1c6mbZogh_OmW5xMmeF_Yq6dL8tZtjT2

And then it was time to board as it was officially Saturday, June 3rd. The true beginning of this adventure! So that wraps up this first post. I’m glad I finally got started. Thanks for your patience and I really hope everyone enjoys the ride.

See you real soon!

Hi there! I read your last report and commented a bit. I am also from Colorado, but living in Westminster. Anyway, we were there for 2 weeks overlapping you! From end of May to June 13. It is our usual time to go and we had soooo much rain!! We have had rain before but this seemed like way more!! We are thinking of going in Nov for a short trip since our APs expire in Dec. Looking at flights, I see a red eye leaving at midnight and arriving 5:30am Orlando time. So I'm interested to see how yours went! Don't know if we could handle that! o_O

Looking forward to this report!! :jumping1:

Yay! Thanks for joining in again! As for the red-eye, it was pretty awesome. What a great way to maximize your time in FL, and not have to get a hotel room! At least for folks like us who don't live near the airport - Westminster isn't so bad, but there is no way we could take an early morning flight w/o a room nearby. Seeing that your kids are older, I think taking a red-eye is a swell idea! Granted, we were lucky to have Papa with a room where we could crash, but there are plenty of ways to snooze at one's resort.

What a beautiful intro and beautiful family. Staying in a grand villa sounds awesome, I'm excited to see your pictures. I recently traveled to WDW with 14 members of my family so these big family trips are fun to hear about. I'm sure it was a tiring trip but at least you had 3 weeks to spread it out. Looking forward to more!

Thank you so much! I'm totally going to have to check out your report... 14 people - WOW! 10 has been a challenge at times...
