We are coming in on a Thursday, around 2:30pm. Since it's mid-week and not a holiday is there any good reason to book ahead?

TIA!

There's only 2 of us so we won't be using a towncar. We'll use the $30 for a meal!!

I wouldn't book ahead unless you needed a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Just go to the nearest Mears counter, tell them where you are going and wait for them to put you on a van or bus.

However, with Mears, don't expect to get to your resort before 6pm.

Hi,

Is that really correct what you are writing here? The orginal writer of this tread wrote that they arrive at Orlando Int. Airport at 2.30pm. Of course they have to wait for their bagage, lookout for a Mears booth and maybe they have to wait a few minutes to speak a Mears person.
Let say they speak the Mears person at 3.15pm. And 45 minutes I think is a long time to wait for your bagage and go to a close Mears booth.
After purchasing your transportation there might be a wait.
Let say you can leave the airport at 3.45pm. Half hour wait. And a half hour wait is a long wait for a big shuttle company.
Sorry if I'm wrong. Going to use Mears on my upcomming solo trip for ther first time. In Las Vegas I'v used shuttle service twice. The wait time was no more then 10 minutes. And in Las Vegas are also many resort hotels.
How long is the drive to WDW from the airport? I guess 30 - 40 minutes. Say 40 minutes. Then its 4.25pm.
Of course they will tour some resorts
At worst you should be at your resort at 5pm.

Marcel.

It has happened to me before.

Plane arrived at MCO at 10am. Walked to baggage claim which was close to Mears desk. Went and redeemed Mears voucher while waiting on baggage, once baggage arrived, (10:20) checked in with controller, was placed on Mears van (11:00), Mears van filled with 7 sets of two people (11:15), left loading area (11:20), went to OKW (11:55), Boardwalk (12:15), Port Orleans FQ (12:30), Grosvenor (12:50), Marriot (1:00), Ft. Wilderness (1:20), Contemporary (1:40), then finally our stop, All-Star Sports, (2:00).

So yes, it can take that long to get from MCO to your resort.

Oh, indeed thats long. I'm sorry for you that it has taken that long. It seems that at the time you used Mears it was not that busy. If there were more people using their service, they should be able to have a shuttle for the MK resorts and Ft. Wilderness, one for Downtown and Epcot area and one for Animal Kingdom area.
It sounds very odd that you have to wait that long.
It seems that this company will only drive with full shuttles and if not they let their customers wait for over an hour.

I'm still planning to use them and will see what happens. My plane will arrive in the evening, so there is nothing planned for that day. The only thing I want is go to the room and bed.

Marcel.

I have no problems with Mears in the evenings, because as you said, I only want to get to my resort and crash.

It was very frustrating to lose so many daytime hours getting to my resort on that one trip.

There was a very large group right ahead of me that took about 6 vans going to Carribbean Beach, so that is why the initial wait was so long. Us individual folks were loaded very quickly once they got them out of the way, it was just bad luck that we were spread all over WDW.

I also need help with using Mears. In the past we've always used Your-ride which are great but on our upcoming May trip it is only two of us. And hope to arrive at MCO at 3:00. How much does it cost for Mears shuttle to CB? If it take this long for Mears to get me to the resort maybe I should pay the extra $$$ and use a private service. I don't want to waste a lot of time hanging around the airport, once I get in Florida - I want to get to the hotel ASAP, to swim and relax before hitting the parks the next morning.
