First, I must say, I am extremely jealous of all of you Beach Club owners. We own at SSR and AKL - however, DH and I agreed that if it would be simple, we'd sell our points and buy a Beach Club resale in a heartbeat and wouldn't think twice about losing the additional 12 years or whatever we have on the other contracts!
This was our first Beach Club stay and it exceeded our expectations. I've read here in the past and on Trip Advisor from a few reviewers that the rooms were in need of a re-furb...so my expectations were not too high for the room. We were in room 303 not far from the elevator which was nice with a 2 & 4 year old. As many of you know, all the hallway carpets have been replaced and look fantastic. When we got to the room, I was floored. It was in great condition, I don't know what these nitpickers could be talking about!!! The bed was so comfortable I literally told my DH I want to go shopping for a new king bed and get something similar to the BC mattress. Everything was very clean in and perfect working order!
Of course, the pool rocks. But I don't think you can truly appreciate how valuable that pool is to your vacation until you experience it. I had seen it before, but never stayed there. BIG difference between the pool at BCV and other DVC resorts. For starters, the shallow beach pool that is perfect for little kids. You can sit in the sand and play with little ones and don't have to worry about them! The lazy river! The slide. The view. Hurricane Hannas. I could go on and on. And of course, the pool games and music they had in the afternoons. DH had originally wanted to try a water park on this vacation but we didn't need to with Stormalong! We stayed back at the hotel 3 days just to enjoy the pool and activities!
I saw someone else had mentioned the movies on the beach at night. This was very cool, but I only saw part of the movie "The Pacifier" one evening because they had moved the screen to the pool area due to a private event being held on the beach. I thought this was a really neat idea. They also had a bonfire and sang songs on the beach every night at 8pm too. We did that one night, and they offered to roast marshmallows and make smores, but that was $7. So we didn't do it because we were still very full from dinner. (think dining plan)
Also mentioned here previously, Lilo & Stitch were in the lobby every afternoon playing games with the kids. It was a nice touch.
The grounds were perfectly maintained and it was just so relaxing being there. But one of the biggest differences I noticed this trip was the cast members. They went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. They offered help when you didn't ask for it or even need it. They ask how you're doing everywhere you go. Another very nice touch. It just added that extra touch of magic to our stay.
This was low season so we were able to get in easily for a week at BCV. If that changes in the future and we can't get in, we'll seriously look into selling and buying resale. This resort is what DVC is truly all about!!!
