First, I must say, I am extremely jealous of all of you Beach Club owners. We own at SSR and AKL - however, DH and I agreed that if it would be simple, we'd sell our points and buy a Beach Club resale in a heartbeat and wouldn't think twice about losing the additional 12 years or whatever we have on the other contracts!

This was our first Beach Club stay and it exceeded our expectations. I've read here in the past and on Trip Advisor from a few reviewers that the rooms were in need of a re-furb...so my expectations were not too high for the room. We were in room 303 not far from the elevator which was nice with a 2 & 4 year old. As many of you know, all the hallway carpets have been replaced and look fantastic. When we got to the room, I was floored. It was in great condition, I don't know what these nitpickers could be talking about!!! The bed was so comfortable I literally told my DH I want to go shopping for a new king bed and get something similar to the BC mattress. Everything was very clean in and perfect working order!

Of course, the pool rocks. But I don't think you can truly appreciate how valuable that pool is to your vacation until you experience it. I had seen it before, but never stayed there. BIG difference between the pool at BCV and other DVC resorts. For starters, the shallow beach pool that is perfect for little kids. You can sit in the sand and play with little ones and don't have to worry about them! The lazy river! The slide. The view. Hurricane Hannas. I could go on and on. And of course, the pool games and music they had in the afternoons. DH had originally wanted to try a water park on this vacation but we didn't need to with Stormalong! We stayed back at the hotel 3 days just to enjoy the pool and activities!

I saw someone else had mentioned the movies on the beach at night. This was very cool, but I only saw part of the movie "The Pacifier" one evening because they had moved the screen to the pool area due to a private event being held on the beach. I thought this was a really neat idea. They also had a bonfire and sang songs on the beach every night at 8pm too. We did that one night, and they offered to roast marshmallows and make smores, but that was $7. So we didn't do it because we were still very full from dinner. (think dining plan)

Also mentioned here previously, Lilo & Stitch were in the lobby every afternoon playing games with the kids. It was a nice touch.

The grounds were perfectly maintained and it was just so relaxing being there. But one of the biggest differences I noticed this trip was the cast members. They went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. They offered help when you didn't ask for it or even need it. They ask how you're doing everywhere you go. Another very nice touch. It just added that extra touch of magic to our stay.

This was low season so we were able to get in easily for a week at BCV. If that changes in the future and we can't get in, we'll seriously look into selling and buying resale. This resort is what DVC is truly all about!!!

:cloud9:

Glad to hear how much you loved BCV! We also own at SSR & AKV but will try in a few weeks (7 mos) to book a stay @ BCV for May '08!! We like trying all of the DVC resorts and I have to say, so far we've loved all of them (for different reasons, of course). They all have their own special "feel" about them!

Thanks for your report!! Wish us luck with our reservations....we'd love to experience all the great things about BCV for ourselves!!

I couldn't agree more about BCV. We hit the pool on our first night a couple of weeks ago. It was about 9:00 pm. It was sooooo wonderful. DH and I floated around the river and DS played volleyball. Probably one of the best moments of the trip.

Oh- I am so glad things a alive and well at the BCV's. Sounds like you and your family had a wonderful time. :thumbsup2

We check in the end of the month for my Birthday trip!!!! I can't wait.

I'm glad you had such a great time. We became add-on BCV owners this summer because we want to share the whole BCV/SAB experience with our extended family! (March '09...it's a long time away, but hey, we're planners!)

I bought at BCV back in 2002 just before it opened. I have been in love with it ever since. Every resort we stay at doesn't hold a candle. I love the rooms, the pool and being right at EPCOT's backdoor.

I hope they offer contract extentions like OKW. I will be signing up!

Now you've got me so excited. I just finished making our first reservation to BCV since purchasing resale last Jan. I purchased BCV un-seen for the pool area and being close to EPCOT & MGM. Our first DVC trip will be next Aug, can't wait.

Rest assured - you made an EXCELLENT choice! That's pretty impressive to have bought in sight unseen. You're going to love it and be so glad you did! :thumbsup2

I have also bought Beach club, our first trip is Dec. We just can't wait. I have stayed one night last year. My bed was wonderful too. We are so excited, glad to hear the resort is falling into the ground. :rotfl2:

Glad you enjoyed it, many times it is all about timing. For one the carpet replacements makes a world of difference in first impression, believe me it was nasty looking.

The new mattresses and new sofa beds help too. With the new carpet they have tried to touch up the rooms and clean the rooms to make it all look nice and fresh.

And you went during a less than packed time for SAB. It is a great pool but not a fun pool with crowds. During the peak summer the "lazy" river looks like 5 o'clock rush hour with bumper to bumper rafts.

As to the movies, Lilo and Stitch and the very friendly CMs, you were lucky to be there during the YC/BC test program that was also going on at All Star.

Be sure to let Disney you noticed a difference and glad you had a great time.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip!!! We used to own at BWV, OKW, and VWL...and sold all of them to buy at BCV, so I completely know where you are coming from!!

When my dd was smaller, she was scared of ALL pools except SAB. I think sitting in the sand and being able to "play" in the water was a HUGE thing for her. Now that she is getting a bit older, she is "adventuring" to other parts of that amazing complex!!

I seem to always have BCV witdrawals (about once a week), and your trip report certainly reminded me about how much I love (and miss) that place.

I can't wait for our next family trip.... I was able to get BCV from Feb 27 - March 8. I love SSR and I would never think of selling....but it is nice to be able to book at other places.

Actually, we were there for the whole weekend of Labor Day and the pool was packed over the weekend. We got to the pool early and had no problems getting a chair but people that came later did have problems trying to find chairs. I didn't mind the crowds at the pool. My 4 year old had lots of other kids to play with!

I will definitely be sneding an email to them to let them know how awesome it was. :goodvibes

I'm so glad you enjoyed the trip! We bought at BCV back in 2002 before it even opened, and added on to the contract last year. We stayed at SSR one year for a change and have decided we never want to stay anywhere else!

Thanks for the report. The last time we stayed at BCV they didn't have Lilo and Stitch in the lobby nor the movies on the beach. We are staying there next summer with DH's family and I can't wait. My DNephew will be 8 and I bet he will love it.

Do you know if there is a charge for the floats on the lazy river? We never did that before, but I bet my girls would like that (but they probably wouldn't do it for long, so I'm not sure if it is worth renting a float).

I can't wait to see Lilo and Stitch in the lobby!

The floats are $3 for an hour or $10 for the day. You can get either a single or double at the same price.

Zalansky, we were there the same time and watched The Pacifier that night when the TV was by the pool. I noticed a alot of changes this summer that were definitely for the better. The pool games and music were great every afternoon. My DD won the Hula Hoop contest and I won the "What's in your Beach Bag contest! My DH forbidded us from winning anymore games since they would not fit into our luggage! It was nice to have the camp fire and movies on the beach every night. The CM's were extremely friendly. Whenever you went throught the BCV lobby they always commented. enjoy the pool, the day or have a safe trip back. We bought a BCV resale in 2003 and have added on twice. We love the BC! It feels like a second home to us.

We bought inflatable rings at Walgreens for $1.50 and the lifeguards let us use their machine to blow them up! One lady told me the ones you rent from the hotel were too big for her little kids. We also got one noodle and that worked good in the lazy river also.
