4th of July?

DBF and are considering a very last minute, totally unplanned trip to Vegas this weekend since we both have 4 days off. We would be driving in from Tucson thursday and staying through saturday. We're two adults, 25 and 22, very low budget. Just have a few questions to help us make up our minds:

1. What kind of special things go on for the 4th? I've heard about fireworks at Caesar's Palace.

2. Best place to stay for a teeny tiny budget? We'd like to be close enough to walk to things like Fremont, the main strip, etc...but a short (re: non gas-guzzling) drive would be alright if cheap/free parking is easy to find.

3. Things we can't miss no matter what? I've been to Vegas once, but I was 12. He's never been. So, it's pretty all new to both of us.

4. BF is convinced he'd need a suit since all the guys in movies wear suits all over Vegas, lol. Would it be a good idea to each have some "nice" clothes for anything?

I think that's all for now...TIA!

The fireworks can be seen from pretty much anywhere on the strip.

On the 4th of July weekend you're going to have to stay well off the
strip with a teeny-tiny budget. Not close enough to walk to Freemont
Street or the strip. All hotels are quite expensive that weekend.
Parking is free at all strip hotels but you are parked way in the back
and it's very, very crowded

If you plan on going into any of the upscale clubs or top restaurants you
should dress to impress. Everywhere else it's desert casual.

Two or three years ago my DW and I were in Vegas around that time. On July 4th itself, we found ourselves wandering through the Rio. There was a woman casino employee, dressed in Mardi Gras clothes, giving out free passes to the Voodoo lounge on top of the hotel for that evening. Needless to say, we went up there that evening. Not only was it a fabulous view of the Vegas skyline from 51 floors up, it was also a ringside seat to the fireworks that are shot from the top of Caesar's. They were basically at eye level when they went off, and appeared to be almost close enough to touch. Best 4th of July fireworks I've ever seen! :cool1:

I don't know if they still do this -- perhaps they were particularly slow that year. But it may be worth taking a stroll through the Rio on the 4th, just in case.

Have fun!

It would be interesting to hear from MissMichigan again.

I am in Vegas now - working. Last night my wife decided she wanted to go so
we looked for a hotel. Yikes! Crazy high prices everywhere.
