JMHO but I would attack that last $900 of student loans before tossing money in any other direction (except necessities and min payment of bills)
Once that is eliminated, the monthly payment that once went to student loans is now available for other uses, and you will reach those goals more quickly.

Made a 600 payment in Jan and the balance later this month when the statement comes in

Our only debt is mortgage and 1 car payment so not much to worry about. The student loan is simply more of a nuisance now than anything but it will be gone next week or so!!

Congrats on paying off your debt! :thumbsup2  It feels great doesn't it? :goodvibes
I didn't have student loan debt but mostly credit cards and seriously I would log back in every now and then just to see the big ol' zero balance! :cloud9: :cool1::rotfl2: It takes a lot of hard work & persistence but it's great when you can cross a bill off your list.

Now, how on Earth you have the patience to count how many things you've uncluttered is beyond me.

Week 8, wow!

First of all, congrats @comicguy for eliminating those student loans-that is a wonderful feeling:cool1:

As for me...

1) no more McD's for breakfast (it is soo close and easy)
2) eat at home during the week (DH works out of town so he enjoys eating out on weekends when he's home but if I can eat at home during the week it will help)
3) gym 5X week--I was really getting back into in until the flu hit last week
4) less random spending (okay this doesn't conform to the SMART method at all but I know what I mean-not going to Target and coming out with 20 things vice 2; not getting an Amex offer and spending $50 unnecessary to get $10 back).
5) hoping 1, 2, and 3 will assist in getting BMI back to "healthy" window

1) I think this past week only on Thursday, my read to VPK child day. I dread this volunteer project so have decided it's okay to bribe myself :)

2) Ate out two lunches (1 scheduled with a friend, one because I was super lazy and wanted a nice big salad someone else was making:rolleyes1). On the other hand, DH and I have only eaten out once this weekend so that's a positive change!

3) Gym-good with that, also walking the dogs almost daily since it isn't too hot yet.

4) I definitely didn't take advantage of the Amex $200 off $1000 spend at Hilton Hawaii offer so proud of myself:rolleyes: However, had to schedule a last minute flight/hotel for next week to NYC BUT used companion pass for DD and miles for DM so the hit to the credit card wasn't as bad as it could have been, I suppose.

Also, decided to postpone DH's and my big DD is out of the house trip from 11/19 to 4/21 so I can buy more time to save up both money and miles.

5) Made the mistake of weighing myself. I have lost 1 whole pound. Sigh...but better than gaining or staying the same. Darn the middle age metabolism!

Hope everyone has a great week :)

I love this idea. We have had a horrible year and a half and some of the major stress has been alleviated as we head into 2018. In Sept of 2016 my DH lost his job. He was off work for 4 months. 3 weeks after he went back to work I lost mine. I was lucky! i started a new job 13 days later and I am 10 times happier. My mother in law had been living with us the past year and we sadly lost her this winter. I hate saying this but every cloud has a silver lining we had been working the Dave Ramsey plan prior to her death. We are now at baby step 4. In addition to paying off some silly debt we were able to do some much needed repairs to our house, have our savings for baby step 3.
My goals for 2018
Get an actual working budget
Continue to save for house work
start college savings for my boys
Work on my marriage- This should probably be at the top and might speak volumes that its not...
continue working on my personal health.

Way to stay on track, @comicguy :)

As for me... well...

1) better, not perfect in the ams...
2) I think I only ate out for lunch/dinner once so that is quite a change (for the best)
3) I missed the gym because of a headache plus my new foster dog. Did manage to meet with my trainer twice and we came up with some new
goals and ways to meet them
4) If you ignore the 2 cruises I booked (ouch) this week, I did pretty well. DD and I actually need new shoes and it was painful to spend money so
that's a nice change in attitude! I did use an AMex offer to buy tp, paper towels and razor blades, saving $20 off of $75-nothing I bought was non
essential, though so happy about that
5) BMI the same, sigh. Hoping continuing to change the diet plus shaking up my workouts will help. I keep reminding myself this is a long, slow
process.

Good luck to everyone on their goals this week.

Haven’t updated for a bit.

New house is progressing!

Condo going on the market 4/4.
Movers been scheduled for 6/4 and we are heading to MA 6/6!

DD is waiting on last college decision coming 3/22, she was denied last week at one, but she had already decided it wasn’t the one.
Think she will be accepting at one, it is offering her so much! Only way she will consider Thursday decision if accepted is the $.. she realizes huge debt it not how she wants to start her life.

Packing has gone well for getting condo ready. Have a few more cleaning things to do and we are set to go!

I’ve lost 5 of my 10 pounds!

Made two extra CC payments and put money aside for our spring break trip to MA.

When we get back packing will be in full force.
Prom 5/5
Graduation/good bye party 5/19
Baccalaureate 5/31
Graduation 6/1
Movers 6/4
Move to MA 6/6

Plus work, school and other senior days at school activities.

Thinking of taking a few days after we get settled in for a little relaxing vacation on a beach someone.

I have several goals this year.

Financial:
  1. Pay off CC1 (charged up by DH without my knowledge--see Debt Dumpers thread).
  2. Pay off upcoming WDW trip before going in December. $7068.68 in Jan.
  3. Follow through with tracking expenditures and planning ahead, since I suck at budgets (yes, I've tried YNAB)
  4. Pay down CC2 to $8000 by December.

Personal:
  1. Finish writing projects - End of April for current project
  2. Exercise - Start walking.
  3. Research new writing project with dad (who is succumbing to cancer, so this is important to me)

Around the house (aka, zero dollars):

  1. Declutter office
  2. Organize garage
  3. Declutter my bedroom
  4. Keep living room and kitchen picked up daily
