It's a hard question. Animals have no rights so I guess I would pick the least tortured one based on human desires (food/clothing/medical experiments/pets in cages). Maybe a bird in the tropics would be somewhat safe.

Ok my immediate answer was one of my cats.
But then I think I would like to be a pampered lil dog that goes everywhere with their owner. Seriously is there a better life than a rich persons lil dog

Will we remain the same gender or can we pick that too?

I want to be a narwhal, but only if I can be a male. Only the males have horns.

If I can't change my gender, I'd pick something highly endangered. Then I'd get myself into a breeding program at a zoo or something.

One of those little dogs whose owner has no kids and treat it like a human....designer clothes, awesome fru-foo bed, babysitter during the day, and special homemade food.
