Urgent Disney College Program Question!!!

So I was just accepted into the Disney College Program today and I am beyond thrilled! The only issue is I got my least wanted role, which is quick service food and beverage. I am vegan so handling food that isn't vegan doesn't sound so appealing to me. I listed this role as a low interest and still got it :(. Honestly, I would rather take any other role possible. So my question is if it's possible to get my role changed at all? I have 2 days to accept or decline the offer so I'm in a bit of a time crunch here. In my acceptance form it says if I have any questions that I should email them before I accept, so I emailed them stating my concern with the role and if they could consider me for attractions or merchandise (roles which I assumed they have a high demand for). I know this question is all over the place, but I'm stressed out about deciding whether or not to just accept the offer or wait to hear back, and if their is even a possibility they would give me a different role even if i request it before accepting the initial offer. Thank you in advance to anyone who can chime in and give me any advice.

Edit: I have no problem working hard, it just feels weird to not have eaten these foods for so long and then have to prepare food I don't agree with. Since I asked this question I have accepted the offer and I am hoping for the best. This was my only chance I had to do the college program because I am about to graduate. I was wondering though if it's worth mentioning that I would love to be a bartender because I have been one before (I'm 22) and it wouldn't have as much contact with food. I appreciate all feedback:)

Almost no one wants QSFB, but you can be accepted for any role you put any level of interest in.

They MAY consider your being vegan grounds for a role switch, but usually it's only for medical reasons that they move CPs between roles.

I worked in the food and bev industry, although not in Disney. I would say to you, just grow up and be professional. Your personal life choice is a non issue deal with it. I worked with Muslim people who did not eat pork / bacon due to religious reasons. They just wore food prep gloves and got on with the job. You have been accepted to work in Disney, do you realise how many would do anything to be in your position?? Get over yourself and accept the job and have an amazing life experience. Thats what growing up is all about, putting yourself in situations outside your comfort zone to grow and mature as a person

If handling the non-vegan food is just not gonna work for you, then I think you'll have to decline. Perhaps next semester you can re-apply but put "no interest" in QSFB, that's what I did, because I knew that no amount of magic was going to make me want that role haha. That being said, if you're ok with it and it's just not your preference, but you'll deal if it's not changed..than you can go. I HAVE heard of people's roles being changed but only for medical reasons usually.

My DD was not thrilled with her first assignment at all, but ended up loving it. Her second go round in Epcot Attractions she thought she would love it, she hated it. So you never know ....

AND not all F&B actually handle the food as you imagine, so it could be they will work with you on that while staying in the same job. You could be at a park kiosk that sells popcorn, ice cream and drinks; you could just be at the counters just handing out the food (not touching it).

I suggest you google and read some experiences and it may help you feel better about it ~

Thank you so much! I appreciate the advice and the articles you included! As I've done more research I've become more optimistic about my role :)

I can somewhat agree with what you are trying to say. I understand that life is filled with situations you must face that aren't the most comfortable, and I'm learning about how I can deal with those situations. I wouldn't say I need to "get over myself" just because I asked a question about changing a situation for the better. If you have the power to improve a situation, why not at least try? Settling isn't part of who I am. I have benefited a lot in life from asking questions and ensuring the best for my future by being proactive. I appreciate your honesty and advice.

I'm a vegetarian, so I completely feel this and understand your problem.
I'll be doing the ICP this summer (or CEP as it's called now), and I've heard it's basically impossible to switch roles except for medical reasons, so if you're really against it you might have to turn it down. However, it could be a better experience than you're imagining, as you could be in a lot of different locations and not necessarily always dealing with making the food. It just depends how much you think it would bother you, and you have to be honest with yourself, as it is something you will be spending a lot of time doing.
I think @HopperFan got it really right, just do a lot of research and really think about if you think you can handle it. QSFB can be pretty awesome, I've heard! Either way, good luck!

Thanks for the reply! I'm just going to try and be as optimistic as I can and hope for the best!:)

My DD was in same boat, going down after graduation so was kinda at the end of applying. Her phone interview went great, they suggested she be good at a job, she said sounds great but was open to lots of others. She got it but when she arrived Casting didn't even know what that meant. She ended up being crossed trained and had multiple jobs her first round ... her first week she was so bummed to be working opposite hours as her roommates who she connected with way before going. She was initially not happy about her location and as with many wanted the dream job in a park. And being 22 and not used to hanging out with anyone younger, just older she was nervous. But after she got settled and met others at work, ranging from 19 to 32 (DCP) .......... she really loved it. They became close friends, four of them signed on to stay another program and they still are in touch regularly three years later.

I would focus less on your daily task, think about it's only 4 mos when you know there is an end date.
If it was a full time job, then I would say pass on it and look for something else.

Focus on all the positives and try to walk away with everything you can.

Sign up as soon as it open for some of the Disney Seminars, some of them they teach to corporate training charging thousands of dollars. You can list them on your resume, and as DD found out - they made a difference in some of her applications.

Disney alone on your resume is a plus. DD found when applying to Grad schools and several jobs, it was one thing they brought up that they were impressed with. They know that you are taught a level of customer service, you work hard long hours, you have to be on stage and have patience.

Don't sit around in your off hours, find friends and when you are off - do things. All her friends got Universal Passes and they were probably there once a week. They spent lots of times at Disney Parks even if it was to just go grab a drink and watch Illuminations. They did some day trips ... hiking in a state park, swimming in springs, one day watched sunrise at Cocoa Beach and then drove across to watch sunset in Clearwater in the same day. Look at it as an adventure and work hard, take away experiences that will help you AND make sure you have fun!
