Thinking of a quick trip as in leave tonight. Am I crazy?

Airfare is so cheap this week and we're out of school this week so I'm seriously considering booking a short trip. I am a super planner and although I've been many times I've never done it last minute. I'm wondering if I'll just spend my time waiting in lines because I won't have time to do fast passes and we won't stay on site so no early entry. I've only stayed off site once and it was fine but it was also a well planned trip. Any thoughts or advice? It would just be myself and my middle son (he's 18) because the rest of the family has obligations.
Go for it. You are living the dream. Have fun! If you get to AK an hour and 15 minutes before a regular opening you will even be able to get right on FoP without a fastPass and likely be walking off the ride when the park is supposed to be just opening. Enjoy!

We haven’t done this in a long time (I was in high school) but it was a phenomenal trip. No plans, just floating around and seeing what we wanted to do. I think that was the trip that we did the most character interactions to help shake things up even more.

My parents live their life’s like this, and always have!

Even with 4 Kids under 10 (and a dog) my dad would be like, pack a bag tonight, we are going to (insert destination here) leaving at 3am! We would all pile in the car and drive! Many trips to WDW happened in my childhood in this exact senerio!

I wish I could be more like them...I am a planner, the exact opposite!

Have SO MUCH FUN!!!

Wow, the thought of such a last-minute trip gives me anxiety, but good for you! Just because I couldn't handle it doesn't mean nobody should do it!
Have an amazing time!!

Have fun! I love planning trips, but I would also love to just go on short notice! Especially since you have been there several times before, I'm sure it will be a great time. . .Probably rank as one of your favorite trips

Impressive!

I’m such a planner. Couldn’t do it. Don’t have the money immediately available; would need to find summer clothes and do laundry to pack; so many details to take care of...

I appreciate spontaneity in others. Good for you!

Before I moved to Florida, I often used to wonder how folks did with last-minute trips to Disney too. Great question! Just stopping by to let you know that your thread was picked to be featured today on the DIS Daily Fix! :goodvibes

We JUST did this! Decided last week to go this past weekend; the kids had Friday and Monday off of school (Presidents' day) so we bought APs (EEEk!!) on Valentine's day and drove though the night Thursday to arrive at rope drop AK Friday morning! It was so crazy and the kids had no idea. We have been to WDW probably 10 times in the past 7 years and this weekend was the best trip yet!

Got fast passes for what we could and used rope drop for what we couldn't. For FOP we got in line at the end of the day but still waited 2 hours, next time we will get in line closer to closing time. Spent one day at each AK, Epcot, and MK; skipped HS as there isn't much there for us right now. We stayed off site but very close to the action.

DO IT!!!

Have Fun!!! I dream of the day that I can just decide to go on a whim and be able to afford to do it! I am going in November and I am super excited but it seems so far away. If I could I would drop everything and go today! And really a one on one trip with just one child is also really awesome. I know when you have more than 1 it's not easy to get that one on one time doing something awesome.

Have fun! I would definitely do that! Our BEST WDW ever was a last minute trip. In 2011 we planned it about 4 weeks out. I think not going in with a million different plans and expectations is the best.

So jealous! I would LOVE the spontaneity... It's the time off and the money that I don't have to do it..

One day...
