I have gone every summer, but had to make a change this year....

Are there special things you need to bring for winter trips to Disney; kinda swapping out the bathing suits and halters for sweaters, but what else?

TIA!:thanks:

Layers, because the winter weather in Orlando is unpredictable and variable. It might be warm at times. But in general, particularly this winter, which has run cold & wet, bring more warm clothing than you'd think you'd need. You'll be outdoors more than indoors at WDW, so clothing that feels fine in winter for just walking between a parking lot & a building might not be enough for 2-3 evening hours outdoors for the nighttime light shows & fireworks shows. I recommend coats, gloves, scarves & warm hats in case it gets cold during your trip, not just sweaters.

Thank you so much for this!:flower3:

Amen to layers. This past January I was there for marathon weekend. The beginning of the week I was sweating in the parks. By that Saturday afternoon it was raining and the temperature dropped and I had to put on a sweatshirt.

It was cold in the evenings when I was there in November. I’m going back in January and I’m presuming it’s the same deal maybe even more chilly... so layers and sweaters for me.

Layers.

We just returned from a trip: stays at WDW bracketing a 7 day DCL cruise. The first part of the trip the temps were in the 80s. We had a wonderful day at Typhoon lagoon.

When we returned from the cruise Orlando was experiencing a cold front and the temps were just above freezing. And it was raining. At least the rain let up after a day. But it was COLD. And the hotel had trouble heating the rooms [well, the hotel as a whole], so it wasn't just a problem when you went outside.

We went to MVMCP during the cold spell, and one of the things I did was put a pair of leggings I had brought (to wear with a dress on our cruise) under my pants so I was warmer. So having layers that can serve multiple purposes is useful and lets you pack less. For the party we also pulled out the scarves, ear bands and gloves we brought, and needed them.

Also, outer layers can be worn more than once. I had a long sleeve knit cardigan with hood that I would wear over a tshirt. I could change out the tshirt each day, but the hoodie could be warn for many days. Likewise I have a sun protective coverup that is lighterweight and a similar style -- it layers well over tshirts as well and I wear it many days in a row.

As a Floridian that lives about 75 miles due west of WDW, please, please remember to pack sunscreen. You will still need it and yes you can burn.
The past 2 winters here have been very warm and this year is predicted to be no different so layers will work but check the weather about a week before you leave as you may need more shorts than long pants.

Be sure to check the weather forecast before you go. When we went in October, the temp dropped to the 60s and it was so cold that we bought long sleeved shirts there (you win again, Mouse!). So this week I thought “Oh it’s gonna be cool. Pack that jacket!” It was 85 all week with incredibly high humidity. I wore one long sleeved shirt one night. We were sweating the rest of the time. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean squat in Florida haha!
