Help me pick my Disney hotel

In the end, the truth is everywhere has good reviews and bad reviews. Sure a lot of people really like POR and POFQ. Doesn't mean you won't enjoy CBR. And in spite of the bad reviews, it seems like you really want to try CBR. I think if you don't, you'll always be wondering "what if?" It's not like it's the pits or anything. If you have specific concerns before you'll feel comfortable booking CBR, let us know and we'll try to address them. But just bad general reviews should not deter you from what you really want.

I happen to love Le Cellier (restaurant). A ton of people pan it. I still book it every trip and have never been disappointed.

You might love it, you might hate it. But if you don't try it, you'll never know.

I think most bad reviews is about people moaning about the amount of walking involved, the construction and the pirate rooms

Nice to hear a good review

Not really just hear a lot of people saying CBR is our least favourite not sure why lol

We've stayed at CBR twice and absolutely loved it. We never had long walks because we always requested Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51 and were placed right in that area. Or book a preferred room. You'll be fine. The pool is great and we love the tropical atmosphere.

Sounds nice. Think we will go for it

What's a preferred room get

It's neat to see how everyone has different preferences :) As for us, we absolutely HATE CSR (not fans of the theming, food, etc), but we LOVE CBR and POR. We always book a preferred room to be closer to the pool and food court, which eliminates the walking if that bothers you. Hopefully the construction will be done and the gondolas are running when you go. We can't wait to get back there! :)

Sounds good

If I book a preferred room, how far is the max we would need to walk to food court etc compared to if you don't have a preferred room

The furthest preferred room would be a 2-3 minutes walk. The closest non preferred room would be a 4-5 minute walk. The furthest non preferred room would be a 6-7 minute walk.

Oh right. That's a lot less walking than I thought

The way people were speaking I thought it was like half an hour of walking each time lol

That 6-7 minute walk will feel like 30 minutes by the end of the week :). I have never been to CBR but I don't think it is as bad as some people say. We have been lucky with room requests. We always ask for a room in the building right next to the preferred rooms have have gotten them each time.

I know. Unless you book a Pirate Themed room, we've found that there's no more walking at CBR as any other WDW resort that we've stayed at.

I've always found it hilarious that people go to WDW, which is honestly the most walking that I really ever do, and then complain about it being a 6 minute walk to the food court.

That said, we never get the reusable mugs because we aren't big soda drinkers, so maybe if we were refilling those all the time, we'd feel differently.

I'd do POFQ for an adults only trip. I'd be willing to bet that CBR is going to be a lot more expensive when it reopens with the gondola system, so that may rule that one out for you.

ETA: If you've ruled out POFQ, then POR HANDS DOWN. i'm staying BC this time and am still a bit disappointed that we're not going to POR!

Never even thought of that. Hopefully wouldn't be to much more

You have received great advice and I will offer up my decision process and conclusion for your consideration. I started with an open book of all possibilities and built a spreadsheet comparison of five options...Value, Moderate, Deluxe, Point Rental and off site. I then put in my preliminary plans..two people, 8 nights, 9 day Park Hopper tickets etc. Budget wise, I was surprised to fin a Moderate resort comparable to renting points for a studio without the third party hassle.

Our final choice after we investigated every resort and combination was: Port Orleans. We chose Riverside because Alligator Bayou most closely resembles our vacation home but French Quarter is nice too. We do not like the the decor and are creeped out by clownish things.

Wooo that is intreasting. Sounds like POR would be a great choice too

I'd go with CBR since that's where your leaning anyway. We've stayed there once and loved it there and never had an issue with too much walking. I expect to walk when going to Disney also, so wouldn't let that deter me from any resort.

Another thing to consider, you mention the negative reviews of CBR, well thinking about reviews most that post something is because they had a problem. So many more travel with no issues at all and enjoy the resort, however they don't take the time to post about it. So I wouldn't let a few bad reviews keep you away.

Yeah that's very true

We've stayed at all the mods
I'll rank them in my preferred order:

1.pofq
Size of resort,ambience,foodcourt -all lovely.

2.fort wilderness cabins
Nothing quite like it,being able to park right outside-amazing

3.por
Very similar to pofq but a different feel-liked foodcourt also

4.csr
Like the colours and the gym for my boys

5.cbr
I don't dislike but I didn't love it-it was the noisiest by far.
