Rates for tent sites?

Hi everyone! I've been lurking around here on the camping forum, but this is my first post. We're thinking of taking a trip in the Spring, dates April 8th - 14th. We've been throwing around several options of destinations including WDW. We'll be on a fairly tight budget, so the onsite motels/hotels are out. The rate increases are just crazy IMO. Anyways, I haven't stayed at the Fort in YEARS, probably a couple of decades! I just searched my dates for available tent sites, and the rate is $84.83 per night plus tax - what what??? What is going on with these rates for the tent sites? That seems like an awfully high rate to me, have they been increasing frequently like the onsite hotels have been? Our last few trips, we've stayed offsite & have found terrific deals. IDK, might be going to Myrtle Beach or somewhere else more affordable instead....but we really wanted to visit WDW, ugh!

Thanks for your reply @chartle. We haven't been checking the tent site rates frequently, & were really surprised at how high they are. Do you know if they have been frequently increasing these rates? They sure have throughout the other onsite resorts, so we were just curious.

Without looking at the calendar, I'm going to assume that is Spring Break and that of course is peak season. Peak season will bring the highest rates. Our tent site this last January was $54 or $59. If you want to stay at the Fort, you might want to look at alternative dates durning value season.

Sorry, but if you are looking for a 'cheap' vacation, Disney is not it!! The camping sites are no more affordable than the value hotels. Yes, everything has gone up fast, and FW has gotten so popular that they 'can/do' get whatever they charge - and 'still' the demand is greater than the supply!

That's not even peak Spring Break - I'm paying over $100 for a tent site over Easter weekend! As a family of 6, it's the cheapest way for us to stay onsite so I pay it, but it's really expensive for a patch of dirt :rolleyes1

Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking!!!

Hi @North of Mouse, yes we know that WDW is NOT a "cheap" vacation, we visit regularly. That being said, we will be budget conscious about our upcoming April trip.
