Hey all! This is the first time we are going to the Christmas party. I'm thinking of proposing to my girlfriend during it. It will be our second day there. Our first day we're going to dinner at California Grill. I'm just lookingoing for some pros and cons for doing it during the party. Thank you all!

Is she OK with crowds? Sometimes people who are shy or anxious in large groups say they don't want a proposal during the fireworks/party/etc. Also, grooms are usually reported to be nervous wrecks the entire day leading up to the proposal, so if you want to be able to enjoy the party, you might want to propose at California Grill! :)

Otherwise, it could be a really magical experience and one you'll remember whenever you attend the party in the future.

She wouldn't be ok with crowds. I was just thinking it would be nice to have the photo pass photographer there to see her resction. Is there a way to get one at California Grill .

Not really. What if you took your server aside and handed him or her your camera?

You could see about hiring a local wedding photographer or Disney Fine Art Photography, but I'm not sure how they'd stealthily work that in a controlled-access place like CA Grill.

@Kubbie , the photographer David from Lilly and Lilly Photography here in Orlando has pulled off a few proposals at Cali Grill, if you're interested in hiring and outside photographer. I've seen his work and it's really good. I'm not sure how he works it out, but I know I've seen at least 2 proposals he's covered there. We almost went with him for our wedding photos but had a friend pull through for us instead. Might want to look into asking him if you're willing to hire a photographer :)

Here's an idea - dinner at Cali - then fireworks from the rooftop. I'm sure there will be others there that you could ask to take a photo ( but the crowd should be smaller than at the park during the party ) . When they agree, pretend to pose and then drop to a knee. It would win my heart and you have the bonus of the fireworks and a great view.

I'm sorry I'm in not to familiar with the magic kingdom. Is there any spots around the castle where a proposal could happen? With a Disney photographer?

All up and down Main Street there are several photographers in a row that could do it. You could pretend you are going to take a regular photo and then get down on one knee. There’s also the circular area closer to the castle where there’s a Walt + Mickey statue. There’s usually a photographer there as well.

Another good option is the bridge between Main Street and Tomorrowland. There’s usually a photopass photographer capturing pictures with the side of the castle, and it’s a little less hectic than MS.

Perfect Thank you for the help. I am still deciding on when I'm doing it. I really like the idea of doing it during the Christmas party. I'm leaning towards doing it by the bridge between Main Street and Tomorrow Land.

When DH and I were in the magic kingdom a few years ago, a guy had arranged for a photopass photographer to meet him and his gf at the wishing well along the path from the castle toward Tomorrowland. The photographer captured his proposal (he had pre-arranged this knowing he was going to propose there), so I think it can be pre-arranged to have some assistance from a photopass photographer

My now husband proposed to me at Magic Kingdom. He was going to do it in the evening when the castle was lit up but we arrived so early for morning extra magic hours it was still dark and the castle was lit up. Since it was early morning there weren't too many people and mostly everyone was hustling to the rides. All he did was give the photo pass photographer a heads up that is what he was going to do and he was able to capture the whole moment, including my very tired shocked face. He also took all the photos with our camera so we had them and didn't have to purchase an upgrade. I hope that helps.

Does anyone know who to call at wdw to talk to about special occasion/ memory making?
