We can't decide...... We are going to Disneyland in October. Trying to decide between: a road trip to vegas and then Zion NP and Bryce Canyon, or drive up to Yosemite, or drive up the coast hit Monterey, etc. and end up in San Fran.

It's me, dh and dd10

We've done Sedona, Grand Canyon, Sequoia and Kings Canyon on past trips. We like to through in a little road trip after Disneyland.

Thanks!

We just got back from these areas.

Keep in mind the road closures on the coast road route. supposed to re-open september but might have to watch out for changes.

Yosemite was amazing but it is a long drive there and back and is a fairly expensive place.

The coast road is beautiful with so many places and things to see along the way. This time we stopped at Santa Cruz (did boardwalk area and roaring camp railway), Cambria and Santa Monica.

Well - if you're going to Vegas, then October is a better time to visit Death Valley. It will still be warm but not typically dangerously so.

The drive on 1 is amazingly beautiful. Hearst Castle is a lot of fun if you go that route. Depending on the construction of the bridge in Big Sur you may be be good or have to plan on a detour. Monterey and 17 mile drive are beautiful as well. You could start in Santa Barbara and see all the beautiful stops on your way up. I think it depends on what your family prefers. My husband loves Yosemite but I've been once and that was enough for me! You could add some nature stops on the way up the coast too, like stopping to see the redwoods in Santa Cruz.

That is a hard one. I am not a city person, so I would personally leave out San Fran and Vegas. I would do the Monterey/Yosemite portion. You can also do a side trip to Reagan Library on your way up from DL to Yosemite.

I'd do the coast, especially with DD. San Francisco and Monterey are much more fun/interesting for a kid (and even as an adult who goes to Vegas yearly, I'd pick SF over Vegas for a one-time trip). Zion, Bryce and Yosemite are all amazing so you can't lose there.
