Hello all,

I apologize in advance if there is a different thread this should have been posted under but I could not find a specific area. What happens if you need an scooter due to a recent illness? Do I need a disabiliaty pass also? I am bringing my daughter as planned, despite being diagnosed with cancer, and having a very tough time recently.

Thanks in advance

Super big hugs to you, sister! Can't answer your question, but wanted to send support from Connecticut. I'm a cancer survivor, and actually performed at the Magic Kingdom in the middle of my chemo treatments (I had 6 treatments and performed between #3 and #4 - I had an AWESOME team!). Having the disney trip planned was really a big morale help. Good luck with everything!!

DO want to recommend, hats/headgear/parasol to help with sun, lots of sunblock, lots of water, and lots of heat planning. Don't skip meals, and try to focus on the awesomeness of disney! One of my best disney moments ever happened during that trip while I was waiting for rope drop at Epcot thanks to a total stranger.

you can rent a scooter on site at the parks or offsite or bring your own.

or you can rent the push wheel chairs if your daughter will be able to push you in the parks.

there are a few lines where you have to transfer to a push chair
I read that on the disability section of the UO website.

do read that section on the universal, site for those with disabilities.
it will cover more than i am listing here

you will use elevators instead of stairs when in a wc of any type.

you can go to guest services in the parks or outside the park to obtain their version of a disability pass
if a ride has less than 30 minute wait, you would be allowed to use the ep line right away.
if the wait is over 30 minutes, you are assigned a time period where you can return to use the express line.

you can include your daughtet on the disability pass.

if a TM sees you in a chair, they obvious are aware you will be using the hc lines where available.
you are not required to obtain the disability pass to use the lines.

wishing you a fun time at the darkside.
do hope it i will be a great day for both of you there.

do return and let us know how your day in the parks went

I rented a wheelchair for a broken foot. A cast member told me we should go get the disability pass - it certainly made life easier! I'd get one for sure.

Thank you all very much! It is humbling that you all took the time to reply to me. Thank you very much. I will be sure to report how things went :) Thank you for the tips and for the inspiration! <3

Very happy to help if I can

I have had the disability pass before and even though I stay onsite and have the express pass, I still need the Disability pass for using the elevators for a few rides

You can have more people on that pass than just the two of you
In case others join you that day, you are good to include them

Thank you! For Universal, should I have my doctor write a note?

No doctor notes are needed.
Doubt they would even look at it as they are not medical peeps at guest services.

The TM will take your word when explaining your needs in the parks.

Universal has tightened up their policies since last fall along the lines of WDW.

They tweaked things again recently. Was told in July the new policy is that anybody can request to use the elevators on the rides...No disability pass is required

If you would be denied, request to speak to a supervisor, but it shouldn't happen as all TMs should be trained by now.

If you aren't onsite with FOTL & do want to request the disability pass @ GS, make sure all your party is with you & has their park tix & ID so they can be added to the pass.
