My wife and I are doing the DD option this time around and was wondering how important it is to pre plan (180 out) for the breaskfast and lunch meals. Dinner I will go for the top restaurants because you need to but breakfast? Eggs to me are Eggs. LOL... I guess my question is outside of quick service for these two meals should we have issues getting in anywhere for lunch and breakfast at a moment notice ?

Short answer, yes. TS breakfast and lunch books up too! Especially if you want something popular (BOG, Ohana, Akershus, etc)

Unless you want the "must haves" like above or character meals, you should have no problem booking ADRs closer to your trip. We never book any earlier than day before and more often than not it's day of and have never had any problems finding somewhere to eat. I will admit we have APs so park hopping makes it easier and we like to find new places so we are always open to something different and frankly, haven't really thought the must do places were all that great.

that's the key . those meals don't need something popular

I have hopper tix as well and that's the thing I don't mind planning a nice dinner TIME but I don't want to be pegged downed for breakfast and lunch as well.

You should have no problems with breakfast at the resorts without an ADR, I think there are even some that don't take them. As far as lunch, if you want a TS, you will probably have to book it the night before, although we have had no problem doing that the morning of we sometimes have to pick odd hours.

thank you don't mind looking the night before

I have not had any luck with the disney trip ticker !
Do you mean the reservation finder or the countdown ticker many have in their signatures?
I only make breakfast and lunch ADRs for special time frames like Christmas and NYE since I've no idea what parks I'll be in this far in advance. Once I can book FPs I'll firm up any eating needs then.

Disney trip countdown ticker

Find one you like on someone else's post, click on it (it will take you to the website to build your own) then follow the directions.
I Did but it either didn't format correctly or something and than do you have it in a file that keeps it live time? ect..

well its a new day where is it? or should I say where do I find it, to paste it?
If you put the code into the signature section of your profile, then it will be there every day, and you don't have to update it. I have no idea what you have done for that not to happen.

I suggest making ADR's in advance being on the DxDP. Otherwise you risk leaving credits on the table and or eating lots of QS, which would not be a good use of the DxDP. Additional advice from someone who has experienced the DxDP many times: Although the plan allows breakfast, lunch and dinner each day - I would advise not to use the plan that way. I suggest just breakfast and dinner, or an early lunch and late dinner. With three meals per day plus snack credits, it will be a lot of food. I suggest using some of your credits for a few Signature restaurants that require two credits. For example: We will have 15 credits each during our trip, not including snacks. Here's how our reservations are set up:

Flying Fish dinner (2)
BOG breakfast (1)
Yachtsman dinner (2)
Teppan Edo lunch (1)
The Boathouse dinner (2)
Tiffins lunch (2)
Raglan Road dinner (1)
Sci-Fi lunch (1)
Hoop Dee Doo dinner (2)
Ohana's breakfast (1)

No breakfast or lunch scheduled the first day. Will use snack credits at Food & Wine.

Your planning is much like ours w/ similar ADRs; heavy on 2 credit/signature meals but with a few changes.
We wont be there for the F&W event; we aren't big breakfast, are light lunch eaters and no character meals at all as things currently stand. We currently have 33 credits (this might change along with the people in the party) and plan to eat breakfast in our room with our own supplies for the most part. The refill cup will come in handy at that time of day as well as the on site QS restaurant's microwave.

Being its our anniversary trip I went with the DxDP so if we wanted to eat ...we eat! last 2 times with the kids we did the snack and quick serve and dinner which we used snack for breakfast. this time I figured we may want breakfast so we will but thought we would skip a meal and have a double point dinner
