Will gondolas impact BCV/BWV experience?

Maybe DW will let me sell our contracts if the crowds get too big.

One can always dream......

Ooo, maybe people will start parking at Riviera or CBR and riding the gondola for F&W, instead of filling the lots at BW!

Explain how it enhances the experiences for Beach or Boardwalk?

I did in my post. I said it adds another transportation option that is only a stroll away. And its an interestesting mode of transportation. Just my opinion, and you are certainly entitled to yours.

I happened to be there yesterday. CM was adamant they aren't enlarging the IG entrance but who knows.

How does it add a transportation option for Epcot resorts? It doesnt stop there.

The location of the gondola stop at the International Gateway is roughly 275 feet from southeast exit from Disney's Beach Club. By comparison, the Friendship boat dock is over 1000 feet. So for at least some people staying at Epcot resorts, the gondola stop is closer than the Friendship boat dock.

We don't know if it will be possible to board the gondola from outside the park (due to the way security checks are being done). One may have to enter EPCOT and then leave through the exit to board. We also don't know if we would have to transfer to get to DHS. So other than a "once and done" trip for the experience, getting to DHS this way may not be a popular choice!

I was thinking of it just as a means of reaching the Riviera resort and its restaurant.

Why would they put the gondola stop in the circle if they were going to make it available only from the park? That would cut off access to the restrooms for people waiting for the Friendship.

Maybe. But since they are now doing security checks at the resorts before allowing guests to board bus & monorail transportation, I have to wonder.
I doubt it'll be inside the security area but it really doesn't matter much since it'll be outside the entrance gates and there is 100% certainty one will be able to access it without park admission. If they have a big enough area, it'd make sense to have the access within the security area to avoid the extra work and cost of additional screening. Then they'd also be able to use existing staffing to do both as a single unit.

IIRC, that's only the monorail, not the busses---bus guests are checked after arrival at MK.

Maybe they will stop the unnecessary security checks that don't keep serious people who want to do harm from doing so. IMO More of a show to make guests feel secure.

For the gondolas Disney is able to calculate exactly how many additional people are going to get into the parks per second. If a gondola arrives every 10 seconds (made up number just as an example), and it has maximum 8 people on it, then they need to allow less than an extra person per second throughput through the tapstiles. Probably a single CM manning one tapstile block (it means 4 touch points, 2 on each side) can handle this. I've been at the IG only in January where there weren't many people, so I don't know how busy it gets during F&W or Christmas, but not all tapstiles were open. I think the increased trafffic due to the gondolas won't be too difficult to handle, especially if the station is within the security perimeter (which would make a lot of sense).

For rope drop, they can easily start letting guests in before the time and hold them at a barrier inside the park.

On a recent trip to Japan I traveled by gondola a couple of different times through the Alps there. They moved a lot of people very quickly. It was comfortable and fun to ride in them. Even prettier than the monorails!

We own at Beach Club. Epcot International Gateway is just steps away which is where the gondola line is going to be. If we want to visit one of the resorts that are on the gondola line we can easily walk to the gondola and hop on. It's just another option. I think its exciting. But I'm an optimist and love new things.

I think it only helps if you have a reason to visit the Riviera resort, etc.

In my opinion, the gondolas add NOTHING to the BCV/BWV/Swan/Dolphin experience.

They used to have a park ride that was similar and ike some people will ride the monorail there will be people that will enjoy riding the gondolas. Many ski resorts operate their gondolas as a ride during summer seasons. At the end of that ride will be a couple other resorts for dining etc. So I think it has possibility to enhance BWV/BCV/Swan/Dolphin. From what I've seen on any plans the station is outside of the park so anyone who is in the area will be able to use this transportation just like all other transportation.

It's also not going to be like a monorail dumping out a few hundred people at once nor even a friendship boat. It will be much more controlled and steady. Some minor changes at the entry should cover it without too much difficulty.

The sight lines etc are going to be changed, that's for certain and although I find this a bit of an odd choice for WDW I can see some benefits that go along with any negatives.
