Tell me about babywearing in the parks!

DS is due in November. We are going in February for my birthday trip... yes, we are probably nuts.

We are staying at the Poly and have no intention of treating this like a normal Disney trip... we are content to ride very little, take multiple/long breaks, and/or just chill at the resort if it all feels to be too much. We are semi-local (2.5 hours south) and visit often enough that nothing feels like a real priority.

We are toying with the idea of not bringing a stroller into the park and instead putting him in the Ergo Babycarrier. We'd still bring the stroller on the trip, obviously, but I'm curious to know if anyone has feedback on babywearing in the parks.

I've never done this before... if leaving the stroller at Poly and just doing the carrier for a few very low key hours with regular breaks is a terrible idea, don't hesitate to tell me!

I've babyworn on several trips. In our case, we always had a child stroller age at the same time. That meant we brought in the single stroller and I used a sling. When we went with a 2 month old, she stayed in the sling the entire time - and we were in the parks all day long. But - when she went when she was 8 months old, she would only nap perfectly flat, so she used the stroller for naps and the sling the rest of the time. I also went with an 11 month old and he would only nap in the sling! So it depends on the child. I did fine with a baby in the sling all day on every trip. Since you're thinking just a few hours, I wouldn't think it was much different than a normal at-home outing for a few hours.

You'll know more once baby is here too. My babies always did far, far better in the sling than the stroller. (Meaning, only one of the three would sit in the stroller at all and was over 6 months old when that happened. Other two hated the stroller for quite a while). I see babies in strollers though so I know some must like them!

When my son was 9 months old, we brought him to WDW, and he spent a lot of time alternating between the Baby Bjorn (worn by Dad) and the Maya Wrap (worn by me). We did still bring the stroller because frankly, I didn't want to have to carry the diaper bag all day, and it was nice to be able to put him in the stroller now and then to get a break.

I'm an avid baby wearer, but I always take a carrier AND stroller to the parks. Both the baby and I need breaks from baby wearing.

This! I wore DD all the time, even around the house! But you will definitely need a break. I would bring the stroller. You can use it to store diapers/bottles/change of cothes, etc!

As you are 2.5 hours south, you probably already know this, but it can get warm in February. You're probably used to it but I can't stand being overheated, so I too would bring both.

This is baby #5 for me. I'm due in December. We are going in beginning of May. I do plan to baby wear some to give the baby a break from the stroller, but, as I said above, I can't stand heat, so not too much. DH will probably have to baby wear too.

At 3 months, your baby should be fine with baby wearing as long as you get her used to it first. Wear her when you are grocery shopping or vacuuming or walking about so she gets used to being in the carrier.

Good luck and have fun!!

I used a ergo baby for my than 6 month old 3 months ago when we went. I had her on the bus, through security and the ride lines. After a while it started to hurt me (i also have minor back issues) but it payed off to have that thing and have her in that. She was able to sleep in that so if she did fall asleep I didn't move her and just kept her in the thing. We did have a double running stroller too since we have a 2 year old and they would go in that and she would sleep in that too if I didn't already have her in the carrier. I would show a photo but can't seem to figure out how to attach.

My DS was a bit older when we went the first time, so I had a folding hip carrier rather than a sling, but I was SOOOO glad I took it! We mostly parked the stroller and used the carrier as needed.

But the stroller was nice for naps and gear, so I vote to bring it - at least on your first park day, to see how it goes.

My daughter was 5 months on her first trip and I wore her but also brought the stroller. Even though we didn't use it a ton, it was great to have just so I didn't need to carry around her bag as well. She was my third but first I wore, and it made the trip so smooth. I loved my Boba :)

I have worn babies at the park before, but I agree that a stroller will be helpful. It gets really hot and sweaty and a breather is nice.

Potentially dumb question here, but is there actually a stroller you can put a 2 month old in? When my son was a baby, his carrier clicked into the stroller, but taking a carrier and a stroller seems like a lot of equipment. I don't think I put him in the actual stroller part until he was about 6 months old.

It's not a dumb question at all. We went one year when my daughter was 12 weeks old and I remember searching for days to have that answer. The answer is yes you can put them straight in the stroller but it has to be one that reclines " near flat". We went with the city mini and 4 trips later still love that stroller!
