Epcot to get major transformations

The Seas is still great for those of us with little kids as it is a great area to let them run around a bit - but fully agree it needs a redo (or at least a heavy re-fresh)

I always thought Figment would make for a great trackless ride system ride - but if that is the style ride going into France then probably not another one so close

I never thought of the Land as being dated - I never go to the movie, but Living with the Land is one of our favorites - we do it 2-3 times a trip

As for "band-aids", my guess is it will be a mix ... a couple of big, legit changes, a couple of things that are just refreshes or band-aids and probably a few things in the middle

I think they know the park needs a lot of work - and they put serious $ into AK and DHS so I have to think they will pony up at least a bit for EPCOT

Hopefully but for a "multi-billion" dollar project they need to make big changes and not squander.

The problem for Seas and Imagination ... it does not fulfill it's purpose. If a pavilion is virtually a ghost town then it's a waste of finances. I'm fine with the tanks staying, I love aquariums but not the 20K looks of bleached out everything, clouded glass, disappearing fish. They are running a half-attraction there. Now the SeaRider if it comes fits perfect in space to the West with an exit right into Seas. But when you bring in new it just accentuates how worn the rest is, just like when you get off Nemo.

Would LOVE a Figment ride, but totally get how Inside Out fits. But hate if it's just an overlay. Hate that the "create" pavilion is one of the least.

Land, meaning you walk through the door and total 1970's colors and look ... in FutureWorld. LOVE Living with Land, DH comes from farmer stock so we appreciate it (and total city stock) and ride each trip even if we don't do Soarin'.

DS has done complete overlay and Tron ride would fit perfect where Energy is, it won't fit in MK and I think it's too massive for that park. I think they need to be very careful with Galaxy, I'd rather they start with converting Star Tours to Galaxy since it likely will be closed.

Honestly I don't think Disney wants guests walking out of any park saying "it's okay" ............

Again, don't just stick Inside Out into the ride like you did the ducks to Grand Fiesta. GUT it and start over building a real attraction. DS question ... so Figment is mixing it up with them ... what about Bing Bong? Or maybe Figment is everyone's imagination and manifests himself into each person individually ... aka Bing Bong is Riley's Figment. Build new, no overlay.

ITA, and from what I understand, the ride already has capacity issues. So if this ride were to get it's Inside Out overlay, the lines for this ride will be more nuts than they already are.

This was my dream too! I would rather get this for the trackless ride than a clone of the Ratatouille ride where you're just riding around watching 3d screens. I don't believe the ride in France has any actual animatronics at all.

I would rather see an update of Universe of Energy, Wonders of Life -> Inside Out, and Imagination given a healthy dose of . . . Imagination. That would make me a happy Disney Guest. Throw in a new ride or two in World Showcase, one new country, updated films, and do something with Innoventions. Marine Institute for the Seas as long as it goes beyond just a simple facade / theme change is fine. Update Illuminations, and it is a whole new park!

That article has made me thankful I have been able to plan a trip for just after Labour Day so I can see some original Epcot for everything starts later in the year and next year. Also means I am going to have to work in Chefs de France at some point in the near future so I can say I ate there.

I just wish Canada would get some love on a biased level. Would love to see a canoe/white water type attraction back there.

Fingers crossed for a Spain pavillion. They could have a tapas restaurant and Flamenco dancers performing outside.

They also need to bring back the memorable music. For example, the Land boat ride had a catchy tune that added to the experience. If they can't use the original music, have new music added. They also need to fix the end of the ride instead of having nothing in the space after you leave the greenhouse and before you exit the ride. Imagination should go back to a great new Figment and Dreamfinder ride, essentially an update of the original, also with the music. The old Metlife building would be a great place to put Inside Out and a top notch Fantastic Voyage ride, perhaps a fast tracked dark ride rather than the old simulators. As for Innovations, we would love to see it continuously updated with new products and innovations. For us, Meet and Greets are a waste. Our family has absolutely no interest in standing in line to meet a college student being paid minimum wage to pretend to be an imaginary character. No thanks. We know others thrive on those experience and we think there is a place for them, we just don't think they are a substitute for great rides and shows. Disney needs to also remember to balance thrill rides with dark rides. Not everyone can, or wants, to ride thrill rides. We miss the old World of Motion and Horizons even though we like Test Track (we love the look of the Mission Space building but wish they had a different experience there).

I know it isn't the exact same as Spanish Tapas, but Spice Road Table has a lot of small plates/tapas type items and you want watch Illuminations from there (I find it to be a bit of a "hidden gem" of World Showcase)

Honestly, my last three trips to Disney in the last 4 years, I didn't even go to EPCOT. The rides that most people do there, I can't do because of my depth perception issues(3D, screens in front of you, etc.). So I'd be happy to see some changes at EPCOT because as it stands, I'm not interested enough to take the time to go there. These rumors make me excited for EPCOT.

Really at this point any changes will be welcome, from band-aids to full scale demo and rebuild. The location, and physical layout of the place has so much to offer. I'm thinking this park has the biggest potential to give Disney it's return on investment. I think it has the ability to grow capacity more than the other 3 park. So many restaurants in the park and just outside the IG. The revenue opportunities are incredible.
I guess I'm more surprised they feel the financial freedom to tackle this at this point.

I really hope they don't replace Illuminations with the same IP projection type show that is in every other park. All the Disney music/scene mashups get old. Illuminations is also one my favorite firework shows I've ever seen, and it isn't nostalgia, I saw it the first time in 2011 when I was 27.

I think it's also worth a mention of the relative size of futureworld. It's bigger than all of DHS including star wars and toy story land. My quick google earth measurement shows an area of 116 acres. Universe of energy and wonders of life pavilion account for just under 8 acres. That is more than half the size of Star Wars land or toy story land.
Journey into the imagination building is 6 acres. The land is 10 acres if you exclude the soarin theatres. The seas is 6 acres, then you have the land between it and the bus stops, where a resort is rumored to be under consideration.
Certainly is the wisest opportunity for future development that doesn't already have announced plan.

This is probably related to food and wine festival improvements. There have been a ton of permits recently for areas all around World Showcase, probably related to the F&W kiosks.
I kind of figured but do they always clear land for food and wine it seemed they removed some trees and such in that area.

Per Martin at WDWMagic.com they are going to densify the area with more trees and such....and is not related to Rat in France.

I am happy to have Rat in France, but I just hope they don't get rid of Impressions de France before I'm there in October. I've always wanted to see that but kept putting it off, so of course it would be just my luck for it to go away as part of any work on Rat.

its not confirmed that any change will come to Impressions de France. There may be some changes, but not guaranteed. So you still have hope.

I don't like Mission Space... or heck any ride where barf bags are an arms length away. That's the first sign that it's not going to be a good time. The only positive I can say for it is, at least it didn't come out the other end as well.

Hopefully with the new refurb they can at least give Gary Sinise some better hair, maybe a flock of seagulls or jheri curl.

You decide, which will it be?

I am so excited for some changes to Epcot. It has always been my favorite park, but it is starting to show its age. It's time it go some much needed love. Anything they do will help at this point. I would love a new ride where energy is. I think Imaginations and Innovations need major updates. I also wouldn't mind a few more rides thrown in. I love Illuminations, but I could agree that it is time for an upgrade. Can't wait till the actual plans are released.
