Take care of your feet!

I haven't noticed anyone posting a little routine I do every day that I am in the parks. I always take a washcloth from the room (yes, I return it) in a zip lock bag and a pair of extra socks. At some point in the middle of the afternoon when my feet start to ache, I will wet the cloth and find an out of the way spot to sit. I remove shoes and socks the wash my feet with the rags, then let my feet air dry and put the clean socks on. The rag and socks go back in the ziplock. This makes my feet feel soooo much better and I am ready to face the rest of the day.
Anyone else do this?

I don't do think his, but I do often have issues with blisters when my feet sweat and stay sweaty for prolonged periods. I also have very high arches and severe overpronation, which means I NEED shoes with a crapton of arch support, so here's what I will be doing this go around to keep from being miserable:

Before we leave the resort room, I'll spray my feet with aerosol deodorant. Much easier to get between the toes and such with aerosol, and does thesame as the bandaid blister stick.

Socks and my Mizuno Wave Paradox 2 shoes: I have two pair of these a half size bigger than my usual size that I broke in over the two months prior to our trip. I will be taking both pair and alternating which ones I wear each day, so they have a chance to dry fully between wears.

In a small backpack (think 10" tall max!) I plan to throw in an extra pair of socks, blister cushions just in case, the aerosol deodorant, and a pair of my Vionic flip flops with the fully molded footbed. These have AMAZING arch support!

I have tried a myriad of things in the months leading up to this trip, and the spray deodorant was the only thing that has kept my toes from rubbing blisters on each other. I also wear fully synthetic, Danskin brand max cushion socks to help avoid foot to shoe friction. Their thinner socks didn't seem to protect as well, even thought they were cooler.

Last time I didn't take these precautions, and I was completely miserable, and had to pretty much limp through 3 out of the 4 park days we had planned. I was so focused on hurting, I totally missed taking pictures, which I really regret now.

I get horrible blisters while there just about every trip. I keep trying so many different things. One thing that has really helped me with the blisters between the toes are the Toesocks by Injinji. They are pretty thin so I put them on first and then put another very thin pair of socks over them. That has stopped the blisters on my toes. Now I am still trying to figure out how to prevent the ones I get around the outside of my heel. Always huge ones on the side. Never get them any other time. Tried Bodyglide and it only seems to make it worse. I use Dr. Scholl's blister pads.

Great thread! I can't stress enough how important it is to have good shoes. I have a collection of sandals/casual shoes that I use to tour the parks and I never have issues. I travel a ton for work and am on my feet at conferences. The first few times were hell for me because I wore the wrong shoes, and prior to this last trip I invested in three pairs of dressy/work shoes for these trips. I was amazed at how much the foot pain I used to get affected my entire well being--the difference was amazing! Definitely money well spent! So yes, take care of those feet!

All great advice. When we are going back to the resort for a break I will often soak my feet in the tub for a few minutes in hot water. It is so helpful! I also rotate the shoes I wear so I avoid blisters. I bring 4 pair of different styles that I know are comfortable. If I am at the parks all day I typically start with my good tennis shoes. I bring along a pair of supportive flip flops to change into in case my feet start to ache and need some air!

A former supervisor of mine swears by changing socks half way through your park day. I've never tried it, just because I don't want to carry the socks around.

Taking a couple of ibuprofin also helps before you head to the park and during the day. I also wear moisture wicking socks and powder my feet heavily with talc.

One our last trip, on the last day, we were at Epcot's Pixar Film Festival. My feet hadn't bothered me all week, but having to stand on a downward sloping floor waiting for the next showing put all my weight on the balls of my feet. After that, my feet were done and I limped around for the rest of the day.

I bring a golf ball in my suitcase. After getting back to the room at the end of the day, I put the golf ball on the floor. I take turns rolling each foot over the golf ball. It stretches everything out and in the morning I am ready for another day at the park.

I have PF that can flare so I have been proactive...we shall see how successful my prep is.
Bringing Body glide, moleskin & blister bandaids.
Freeze water bottle for foot (and my endless shinsplints--and I don't run!)
Bringing: Vionics (new convert), FitFlops, Sofft wedges & Croc wedges--the Crocs a little higher than I like, but they are crazy comfy & good for night out if nothing else.
I will also bring ASICs nimbus gels & orthotic inserts. I HATE HATE HATE hot feet, but I know this is essential--at certain point could be only option.
I need to head to Scheels & get cool/moisture wicking socks.
4 weeks to go.
(had been on diligent walking routine then fell down 3 steps into garage last Thursday when flip flop caught on step & wrenched my knee. Still stiff but at least I think I will be OK to walk there)

I also take a small blow up foot bath (get them on Amazon) and individual packets of Foot Soak (think it is Johnsons or something like that) to use each night. Then at the end of the trip, I just toss the foot bath (it was cheap!).

I took DD the last two Augusts to Disney and we did open to close most days and we swear by: body glide, two pairs of good sneakers which we switched off, balega cotton athletic socks, Grand Floridian peppermint foot cream messaged into tired achy feet before bed with two advil.

We get blisters so i did tons of research to find ways to combat them what with all the walking and sweaty feet in August i thoyght blisters were inevitable
But this was the perfect formula.

DD is so trained that when we went to Universal for spring break last month she'd already packed the glide and peppermint foot lotion in her cosmetic bag

each morning while at Universal she got out the glide and sat on her bed waiting for me to get every inch of her feet.

Although i bring blister bandaids and moleskin -knock on wood -we have not needed any if it

That body glide is AWESOME. I thought it would bother me and feel sticky but that's not the case!!

I wear reef flip flops for our entire trip and never have blisters or sore feet.
If I wear shoes and socks, blisters and sore feet.
Sore legs? Have your travel partner give you a nice ten minute leg massage each night. Does wonders!

The best thing I ever did for my fallen arches was buy Sketchers with memory foam. Those things are godsends on a full park day. Without them, my feet feel shattered by the end of day.

I always have a change of shoes for after we leave the parks and I make sure that we take wicking socks for days we don't wear Keens. I keep moleskin and bandaids in my park bag, though we haven't needed them. And we never take new shoes, always broken in shoes. I try to buy new shoes for everyone that needs them at least a month before the trip so they can break them in.

We leave in just 5 days, so this thread is so very helpful! Thank you, everyone, for your great ideas!

One thing I always pack is either Aspercreme and/or Icyhot cream. I always apply this after a long day in the park and before we head out in the morning. It really helps achy feet and legs!!

I had ankle surgery back in 2012 I broke my ankle in 3 places and have 2 plates and screws all up and down my right ankle. In 2014 was the first year we went after my surgery I was very miserable because I did not think I had the right shoes for that much walking. We did sit alot as I could and thank god for fast passes because some days not sure if i would made it standing in line sometimes. Yes I was one of the adults who sat in waiting for Mickey's PhilharMagic before they let you in the doors. I didnt care. Well last year I bought me some some new shoes made by vionic. OMG what a difference last year in 2016. I still had a few issues but not as much. About 5 months ago i bought tennis shoes made by the same brand. They are so comfortable. I am hoping they work good like they have been for me the past few months. We go in 16 days whoo hoo
