Vacation insurance?

Hi, first time poster long time Disney fan. My sister and I are going to Disney this November. It's our first time going during what is considered hurricane season. Should we get vacation insurance? What does that cover exactly?
Thanks

Different policies will offer different coverages. Disney also offers one you can purchase with your package. Do a little research to see which policies best fit your needs and their corresponding prices. it's a great thing to purchase if you are concerned that something will happen to cancel or interrupt your trip. Typically a policy will offer coverage on your non-refundable airfare/rental car/ hotel stay and usually other benefits like baggage coverage & medical expenses. If you have any particular coverage concerns be sure to read the fine print of the policy before purchasing.

Insurance covers what you pay for it to cover.
We travel from the UK and won't even attempt travelling to USA without insurance.

Definitely get hurricane insurance, it's saved me before. You can find cheaper vendors outside of Disney, though.

Welcome to the boards! I'm... well, new myself. Lurked around before but finally decided to make an account and start posting.

Whether you get insurance is entirely up to you. I'm definitely considering it for my upcoming trip, though I never bothered with it in the past. One of the Dreams Unlimited podcasts recently mentioned that the insurance Disney offers also includes flights even if you didn't book them through Disney, so... yeah, definitely considering looking into getting that added.

Thanks everyone. I watched that podcast as well. It doesn't sound like a bad price especially when covering flight. Just have to do some more research to see what allot covers.

Lol. "Hurricane season" is listed as June-November, which puts over half of people's trips in hurricane season.

I lived in Florida for 8 years. The worst time you have to worry about is September and early October.

We went to Disney in November in 2014 and it didn't rain a single day.

I booked my room, tickets, and dining plan this morning for a trip in December, and I declined Disney's insurance. I won't be booking flights until Southwest releases their flight schedule next month.

How long can I wait until I add Disney's insurance?

You can apparently add insurance up until the time that your reservation's final payment is due... or so I've heard.

I was going to call tonight and find out, but with today being the first day of the Free Dining Promo, I'm kind of afraid of the wait times on the phone. But I will try to call sometime this week and report back with a definitive answer.

That's a great idea to check with my credit card company. I always seem to forget that they offer those kinds of services.
