Buying DVC Resale

Hello All,
Long time reader, first time post here. Apologies if you've seen this before.
We are sooooo close to finally buying a DVC resale contract, Just wanted to get some opinions on DVC Resale.

Just some topics I would appreciate some insight on:

- How is Resort Availability in Adventure Season?
- We are likely to only travel in Sept and January, how concerned should we be on availability at certain resorts?
- Is a Studio at the Polynesian going to be available in January/September at the 6 month window?

Any info or advice anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS :)

The end of September is getting a bit busier since Disney is starting F&W and the Halloween parties earlier however it's generally been an easier time to book, and Labor day can be a bit busier too. January is difficult early over the Marathon weekend and MLK weekend sees a little uptick but it's also generally an easier time to book.

I'm guessing you mean the 7 month window for booking vs 6? I think you'd have decent luck in getting into PVB. I wouldn't necessarily buy somewhere else if PVB was the only place I wanted to stay though. But if you're ok elsewhere if by some chance it wasn't available you're looking at a couple of months that currently give you an excellent chance to book there at the 7 month window.

Thanks so much,
We have two young kids right now (3yr & 1yr old) and were thinking the Polynesian would be ideal while they are young, Monorail being stroller friendly is a big perk for dad :)
Just got back from a stay at Art of Animation, it was great, but taking apart and finding room for the stroller on the bus 4 times a day got a little old. I was blown away when we rode the monorail and they let the stroller roll on as is.

BLT is also great - you can just walk over. VWL (aka BRV) uses a mix of small boats and large boats - the large one also allows strollers to roll on.

Good to know,
We like the Studio at the Polynesian, the extra bathroom serves as a great 'baby room' for the 1 year old who can have a somewhat secluded space with the playpen for naps and sleeping.

Nobody knows what Poly will be like once it sells out.

My guess is that since 25% of its points are Bungalows and less than 10% of contracts are large enough to routinely book Bungalows, that Poly will end up being oversold on studios.

I think Poly will be difficult to book studios if you don't own there. Certainly for Fall Frenzy.

Whether that also applies to Jan and Sep, time will tell.

here is another great post on availability:

but poly is new and we are still getting a handle on booking patterns there - I agree with ziravan about the mismatch with studios and bungalows at the poly. there are bungalows available even over the next month - but studios are gone everywhere. so I would not count on getting a studio at the poly at 7 months - especially in adventure season which tends to be busier for DVC in general (though it's true that early Dec is much busier than parts of Jan and Sept).

I always travel in January and September and I always find plenty of availability. This year in January even got BWV standard view, which is difficult to get all year around if you don't own there. Marathon week end however is very very busy, even SSR standard was sold out before 7 months window opened.

I purchased a resale OKW contract many years ago and have been to WDW every other year since. I feel like I have gotten value for my money. However; the maintenance dues keep getting higher and I am older (retired) and want to travel internationally more now. I do not think DVC is good for international travel, way to many points needed for that. I think as we all mature our travel bucket list changes. Thankfully my grandchildren, ages 15, 17 and 21 still love Disney. I am glad I purchased only a 200 point contract and can rent points I don't use.

Thanks everyone, we just finalized our resale contract purchase today!!
Can't wait to start using those points.

Thanks again for all the great feedback and info.
Cheers
