Coronado Springs expansion

Didn't CSR convert a bunch of rooms a while ago and offer more business class stuff ? Including some rooms in the cabanas section ? Wonder if that was just a trial run to test popularity....

A rising tide floats all boats.

If prices go up elsewhere it's easy to raise prices at POR, just not by as much.

The way to stop it is to not buy it...no matter what gimmick promo they throw at you...

It's almost like iger waited for Roy Disney to die to go complete d-bag in price escalation...something that was generally frowned upon by Disney as "cheap, inferior" product.

Now it's that they try first have no second move.

That's true, but it's been rumored that soil test in that area didn't go well. Here's a pictue that speculates the area I referred to.
Most rumors have said it will go where the garden rooms are or convention center.

Where did you hear the rumors about the soil tests? If there is already things built there why couldn't they build on top of that land? Remove convention space or garden rooms and it should still be suitable land.

I think I remember something about soil tests too. I'm sure there is a difference between soil supporting a 2 story building and a building with 16 stories.

That's exactly it. 2 stories vs 4 stories can make all the difference. That said, I never heard anything about the tests, so can't really comment on that.

Wow, thats, crazy. Are there permits filled to see the exact location of the building ? I am guessing they are going for views of DHS fireworks !?!?
Yes DHS view will probably be the best. Might be able to see some Illuminations from the higher floors too.

Also just wondering which Cabanas they are tearing down, and how the building will be positioned re: the remaining Cabanas. Also, if they are tearing down the cabana we honey mooned in ;(

According to the first post on the "Changes coming to Coronado Springs" thread, building 9B is the only structure being sacrificed to the Mayan gods.

Hahahaha, that was HILARIOUSLY put. If thats the case, I am, perplexed. By the Artist's rendering its a MASSIVE building, how could it fit in there ? I mean, I get how it could physically fit there, though I think it would be cramped, but, it would have to be so close to the existing cabanas, and who would want to stay in those in the shadow of that massive building ?!

Any new development at Coronado would have to be keyed to the convention center...which is really the purpose of the place now.

Eisner did what he always did: threw together a bunch of concepts to try and hedge his bets

"Sure...a convention center that's cheaper...but put some medium rooms
There too...and put in a bigger pool (at the time)...and outsource the food to save money...and put it next to animal kingdom...and across from the water park...get that done"

Ok...that's what they used to do...cast the net

But now...there's no interest in "middle priced"...not really any interest In "cheap" conventions..

So look for a "consolidation" That pushes prices up.

I have an upcoming reservation at CSR in late May-Early June and just got an email from Disney about this construction. Lots of construction and apparently very loud.

I hope this isn't a complete mess in December, but the recent last minute announcement of closures at CBR has me kinda nervous.

They were not converted, they just were rooms in the building with the best location. There was a lounge available in the morning and evening for the guests in that category. It was really nice because you could not only guarantee you were in a better location at the same price point as preferred, but you also got a little something extra to go with it. The problem was 2/3 of the rooms were King beds so it wasn't conducive to most families.
