Cabana bay? Opinions needed.

So has anyone gone from staying at one of the premium resorts (Portofino etc) to Cababa Bay? What are your thoughts? It looks like such a fun resort. We are booked at Portofino Bay but considering changing over. We are traveling with 2 teens and a 5 year old. Any suggestions and opinions welcome :)

I'm sure there are many that has done that and enjoyed it, but I'm not one of them

97% of the time I travel solo and prefer the closeness of the hotels to the parks

And just like the deluxe hotels for what they offer guests so I only stay there

Money is not involved in my decision for a place to stay

Money isn't involved in my decision either, since we would have to buy express passes we would actually be paying a little more to stay at Cabana Bay. I just happened to see a video on the resort this morning and it looked like a lot of fun. Especially with children in tow.

Cabana Bay is awesome. It has a lot to appeal to kids. My son and I love it there - we're headed back for a week in May! Before you buy seperate Express Passes, price out the cost of one night at a deluxe versus buying the passes separate. One night gets you two days of express so it usually works out much cheaper.

It's really a fun resort. Their attention to detail really makes the theme amazing.
Things like bedding are where you feel the price value. It's a cheaper hotel so you need to go into it with the right mindset. When we went, we'd actually spent the 3 days prior at a 4 star hotel so I did turn my nose up a bit when we first got to Cabana Bay. But, it won me over in the end.
You might want to wait and see on express passes; it'd be a shame to buy them but find the lines to be surprisingly small.

I love Cabana Bay. It has some great play areas for the kids. And also some nice ones for the adults as well. They will love the Lazy river and the slide. Two huge pools and a bowling alley.

I've never really had an issue with the bedding. Then again I compare them to the values at Disney and found them to be quite comfortable in comparison

You attitude on vacation is the root of your fun level. We have done an all-out deluxe express-pass club-level vacation in 2014 and we stayed CBay in 2016. We did not get EP's for our week at CBay in Aug. We just wanted to relax and go with the flow. And CBay was perfectly awesome for me and my teenagers. We also still got to pool hop and eat over at the other resorts along the way, too.
